William Boyd Stickland & Elizabeth Bromley Alcock are my G.G.G/parents, their daughter (my G.Grandma - Frances Stickland married John Barnes)and their daughter Frances Barnes is my Gran.

Next time I visit my grandparents, I shall ask if she is aware of anything, My Gran remembers everything and has been a great source of information. It would help if you provide me with information of names of your granparents.

My great grandfather was Charles Herbert born 1880.He had a sister Kate 1886 and a brother William 1890.Parents were Charles and Emma nee Baker.Can anyone help me with any info on them after 1891. Herbert died in 1915 ,but not sure what happened to others.

I've visited Tyneham a few times, its a very beautiful place. I am descended from William and Susannahs daughter Sarah Stickland who married James Gover. After James passed away, Sarah moved to the Rhondda Valleys, to be with her daughters Emma and Louisa Gover, who had moved with their husband a few years before. Which Stickland descendant is your husband descended from? Any information that you have would be very appreciated. If theres anything that I can help you with please let me know. Hi,
My husband is decended from William Stickland of Tyneham. Did you know he was a smuggler? He was also the first Coxwain of the Kimmeridge lifeboat so he was not all bad!
Tyneham is now a deserted village having been taken over by the army in world war 2. I dont want to list a load of information that you already know, but will give you more details if you would like them.

Just wondering if anyone else has any further information on the Stickland family living in Dorset? William Stickland was married to Susannah Orchard, I am unsure of where Susannahs parents were from. William and Susannah had four children Louisa, Louis, Charles and Sarah. William was born in 1817 and Susannah was born in 1812. I have traced the Stickland family tree back to 1690, Williams parents and grandparents etc, were all called William Stickland right back to 1690. Was wondering if anyone had any additional informtion on the family that could help me further in my search? Any information you have I would be most grateful to receive.

William Martin Stickland was son of Thomas and Elizabeth Stickland, and was christened on 25/1/1821. That's the only reference I can find on the Stickland Database.

My great grandfather Henry was born in Portesham in 1854 ti Jeremiah Brett Stickland born 1807 and Francis (Franny) Parker on 23 Sept 1835. I think they may well have been related. Henry moved to Risca Mon to work on the railways in the 1870s

Got her! Mother was Sarah Collins, and she had two elder brothers Henry and Francis. I know nothing about Mary Ann's marriage and descendants, so would love to find out more. I have her ancestors through to Henry Stickland b 1692-1702 ish.

Prior to my first messages I think I have discovered that william had a brother, called louis stickland who married mary churchill. Their children were called agnes, caroline, gertrude emma, gertrude eliza, and william. William had a son called frederick and gertrude eliza moved to london to marry james burgess. Does anyone have anymore information on these people? Any would be of great use to me. Thank you.

Does anyone know how I can find susannahs birth date, because if I can find that out, I have a few traces of families back of the orchards and it would be easy to find her parents then? I have found out who william stickland around 1817 brothers and sisters are, lousia 1809, sophia 1811, william lusk (how i am related) 1814, thomas stickland 1817, jane sarah stickland 1819, james lewis stickland, 1822. Also i think that william sticklands parents were sarah ann and william. And william snrs parents were joseph and elizabeth. Sarah ann was from london. I made an error. Elizabeth's Father was James Ellam Stickland not John Ellam. James died, I just got his death certificate, 30 April 1878 Corfu Mullen Dorset and is buried Wimbourne. He had 10 children with first wife Sara and 2 more with 2nd wife Mary Jenkins. He was one of 10 children of George Stickland and Sarah Wittel so we see why this Stickland family is confusing. I am off to Dorset one of these days a mere 3,500 miles or so .

Have of late made the big jump across the Pond and found our gr gr Grandmother Elizabeth Stickland b, 27 Dec 1833 Shaftsbury Dorset. Now have her gravesite and photos of it in Queens NY where she died in 1907. Her father was John Ellam Stickland, b 1806 and mother Sara King, b 1810 and she had a lot of brothers and sisters. williams and George who also came to NY and Delaware in USA. John father was a George b 1765 as far as we know. Piles of info from cousins and a stickland timeline website.Sure a whole lot of them

Phyllis - I do not have that Sarah Stickland. She is the right age to be a sibling of my George Stickland b. 1765 (possible in Somerset) but to date that is as much as I have on George's beginnings. I know that he married Sarah Wittel or Whittle sometime around 1785, but nothing else of his parentage or siblings. I'll let you know if I find anything else.

George Tucker Stickland was born in Bristol England, came to New York 1830, learned wagon-makers trade. Son Of Joseph & Mary (Tucker) of Somersetshire, Eng. Youngest of 4, John, Robert & Elizabeth. Nine children with Olive (Sheldon); Elizabeth Jane, Emeline Lusina, Edward Allen, Frances Mary, George Addison, Esther Anna, Sarah (Sallie) Maria, Fannie I, Robert Rosseau. Died in Chickasaw Co. Iowa.
