Because my Stickles were in PA by that time, I don't have the deeds, wills, baptism records, etc for the time period of Clyde R. Stickles. Have you obtained the death, marriage, birth records for your grandfather, to see if his father's name is listed? WW I draft card? I'm guessing you see him with his Shultis grandmother in 1900 and 1910. I see daughters (Jane and Frances) of Esther Shultis in 1880 that would be the right age to be Clyde's mother. I also would investigate the Carrie Stickles relations in 1880 since Clyde's sister is named Carrie. Sorry I can't help more.

Hi, I am researching trying to find my grandfathers father. My grandfather, Clyde R. Stickles was born in the Hillsdale/Craryville, NY area where he lived until moving to Connecticut. He met and married my grandmother and together they raised 5 children. They are both now deceased, but unfortunately we never knew anything about my grandfathers father and I am trying to connect the dots as I believe he may have remained in that area of NY. If you have been or are still reseaching, I would love to share any information.

Thank you for your response to my query. I appreciate the information that you included.
I am descended from William and Editha (DAY) STICKLES through their eldest son, Walter and Margaret (PETERSON). They had Aaron Day STICKLES, my GGGreat grandfather.
The very sketchy information that I have indicates that Editha was descended from Aaron DAY of Colchester, CT, who first settled in Kent, CT, then moved on to Spencertown, NY. He had a sister named Editha and there were several other women by that name in the DAY family. I have more details, if you like.
I would like to include your family in my database, if you would like to share.
Can you offer an solid references (church or civil records) for family history, especially for dates. Most of my research has depended on the U.S. census and a couple of history books.
I am happy to share whatever you would like from my data.
Bill Stansfield

Stickles of Columbia Co., NY

I am not sure if anyone is still checking into the Columbia County, NY line of Stickles family so I am hoping this is not a dead end. I have been able to trace back (my) Stickles to a Frank A Stickles ( 1863-1934) my gg grandfather and his wife Mervelia Sharts (1864-1963). They had three children from what I have decifered so far - Royal, Sarah Eliza and Floyd.

I have not been able to find anything regarding Frank's parents other than we think they were Peter and Henrietta. We do know they all lived in Columbia County, NY with Sarah Eliza my g grandmother moving to Dutchess Co., NY.

Is there someone who knows about this branch of the Stickles? They almost seem to be lost or misplaced.

If you have any information - please email me at marnyismyname@hotmail.com.
Jacob Stickles of Brooklyn or Berlin, Green Lake, Wisconsin

I need some information on Jacob Stickles, born in 1825 in New York, and lived in Brooklyn, WI in 1860 Census, and Berlin, WI, in 1870 census. His wife's name is not known, but if my guess is correct, she was born in Ohio.
Jacob Stickles (in the censuses) had a daughter named Sarah Stickles born from 1849-1851. I believe she married George H. Payne (1846-1876) in 1869 and Daniel Reilly in 1877. It said in the 1880 US Census that her father was born in New York (hint to Jacob Stickles) and her mother was born in Ohio. Sarah was born in Pennsylvania, and so was the Sarah Stickles in the 1860 census record.

I strongly believe that Jacob Stickles is the father of Sarah Stickles. If anyone can assure that this is right, THANK YOU.

-Jack

I do have a note, however that one girl appears to have been named Aster. The hand writing was poor and that was my guess - it may have been Laura!
thank you for the response. Your Andrew is a different Andrew than the Andrew I am looking for. They are in the same family, though. Have seen family tree. Do you know of Wayne Stickles? He is a descendant of Gifford's. He is interested in Gifford's family from NY. He is a descendant of Gifford and ? wife #3 from Ca. Gifford left his family in NY and started another in Ca.

They had one daughter, Nellie Stickles who married Charles Weaver.

Griffin Stickles divorced Catherine and had 4 children with Sylvia DeWitt.
Hello there!

I've been doing some genealogy research with my grandmother's genealogy research and letters. Andreas Stickles is my great-great-great grandfather. He married Lucina (Lucy Ann) Rockefeller. They had a son Griffin Stickles who married Sylvia DeWitt (DeWitte). They in turn had a son Albert Louis Stickles who married my great-grandmother Agatha Mae Fulco. Their daughter Sylvia Rose is my grandmother.

Her parents were Frederick Stickel, born 6-18-1727 and Elizabeth Stickel born 2-8-1747---probably from Dutchess County. Does anyone know anything of them? Rick

A Benedik Stekle, his wife, and 5 ch., were on Capt. Thomas Key's ship in Holland in the 5th party of 1709 (Rotterdam Lists): he is a likely candidate to be the ancestor of the Duchess Co. group of Stickles. Ref: The Palatine Families of NY, by Henry Z. jones.

Benedik Stekel vrouw, 5 ch are listed in the Fifth party - embarked July 3 to July 10, sailed July 15, 1709. By 1712 and The Subsistence List Anna Maria Stockelin appears with 2 over 10 years and 1 under 10 years.
Ref: Early Eighteenth Century Palatine Emigration by Walter Allen Knittle, Ph.D. 1982 Baltimore.

The object in settling these people on good land near the pines, with their families, was to enable then to make tar and pitch for the English Navy from the pines, and support themselves by cultivating the land on which their tents were pitched.
They endured horrible hardships, especially when the English subsistence was eliminated.. The story is too long to relate here.

I have a photo of Ruth Miller Stickles in 1898 when she was 4 months old. The photo was taken in Hudson, New York. After doing some research, I found that she is the daughter of Edwin Stickles, born 1871, and Ella May Stickles, born 1877. The 1900 census of Auburn City, Cayuga Co, New York lists Edwin as qa confectionary. If she is in your family, please let me know and I will send you the photo.

Hello Steve,
Greetings from New York......
A few moments ago, I came across your name on Ancestry.com and thought I would take a moment to say hello.
A few weeks ago I took my mom to Oneonta to see her cousin Benny...your Great Aunt Harriet. I am happy to report that she looks amazing! Inher 90's and still volunteers at the local hospital and church fair. If what they say about good genes then you and I are indeed lucky.

Best wishes to you and your family,

Kathy ( mother: Jean Stickles first cousin to Bennie....Floyd and George were brothers)

This may be a longshot but I am looking for Willis Stickles or his wife's connection to my family.

Truman and Ina Stickles are shown as nephew and niece of my ggf Harold E. Bracy (Bracey) and his wife Mina Vaughan in Painted Post, Steuben, NY on the US Census (If I recall correctly it was btwn 1890-1910 and Truman was under 20 yo). I am trying to figure out how exactly they are related to my great grandparents.

Coincidentally, the names Harold and Milton are prevalent in your posts and in our family, Harold E. Bracy's son is Milton Delmer Bracy and his grandson is Milton Delmer Bracy Jr.

Any help would be appreciated!

Sincerely,

April (Bracy) Murphy
