George was born 1902 CA and died 1970 CA. The 1930 census shows him as a reporter and living at the YMCA hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

Karen , sorry but I did not find a Eliz Putnam Stickney. Found Eliza Stickney b.1801 and Elisha Stickney b.1799. Wonder if she could have been a Putnam and married a Stickney. I am trying to locate Jacob Brower/Brewer (b. 5/20/1782, Centre Brunswick, NY) and Eliz Putnam Stickney (1782-1822), the brother and sister-in-law of my direct ancestor Peter Brower/Brewer (b. 5/27/1779, Centre Brunswick, NY) of Highgate, VT. They married in 1802, probably in Highgate, VT, and then they disappear. Some family members think they went to Canada, but somewhere along the way I found a small clue that they may have gone to Michigan. Many other family members migrated to WI>IA>SD, but we have not been able to locate this Jacob and Eliz (Stickney) Brewer. This Jacob Brower/Brewer is confused with my direct ancestor Jacob Brewer, b. 1801, son of Peter Brower/Brewer, but that's another story. I have been trying to find this couple for years but so far have found nothing.

If you or anyone has any info I would appreciate hearing from you.

Her obit. notes her father was an early pioneer of Gladwin area:
Obit. for Mrs. Alexander Muma Gladwin County Record 1/12/1933 column 3, page 1
Mrs. Alexander Muma of Roscommon county died Jan. 8, at 12:15 pm of pneumonia at Hurley Hospital, Flint. Mr. and Mrs. Muma were visiting their daughter in Flint, when she was taken sick. Mrs. Muma was 62 years old and before her marriage was Miss Jane Brown, daughter of William H. Brown, a pioneer resident of Gladwin. She is survived by her husband, two sons and two daughters. The body was brought to Gladwin by Rogers & Neely and taken to their funeral parlors. Services were held at the Butman Latter Day Saint church on M-18 Wednesday, followed by burial at Butman cemetery.

Alexander Muma died Jan. 29, 1934 at the home of his son, Samuel Muma, in Nester Twp., Roscommon Co., where he had resided for 36 years, going from there to Gladwin county, where he had lived for a number of years. Muma was born April 16, 1853, in Ontario. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, with burial at Butman cemetery.
Alex's father, Samuel, died in neighboring county. Both Jane & Alex are buried in Butman Twp., Gladwin Co. Cem.

I was wondering if anyone had ever determined the maiden name of David Stickney's second wife, Mary.

They married in Falmouth [now Portland, ME] in 1734.
She was born about 1708.

His first wife was Sarah Atkinson of Newbury, MA.
Mary was the widow of Jacob Adams of Marblehead [MA] and Falmouth [ME].

I find it very suspicious/coincidental that David had a sister-in-law, Mary Atkinson, who was born in 1708. But everyone seems to think she married a Major Goodwin.

I still haven't found anything else about Oscar either, nor hav e any of my other close cousins who are also researchers. You have already been in contact with the person who appears to know the most about him and his ancestors, Geary.

I truly believe he must have died since he was several years older than our Marilla. She appeared to be attracted to older men since her second husband, George McCreary was also older than her.

Thank you Ruth. Our Oscar was born about 1806. He married twice I know about. The second wife was "Marilla Stocking".They had 2 children Sherman b.1849 and Rhoda b 1847/48.
He and his first Wife "Rachael Sabin" had 2 children Myron and Julia.
In 1862 our Oscar would be about 56 or 57 years old. Unless the records or marker are marked incorrect he could not be 27 yrs.old. The other scenario could be this Oscar may be a child of Myron which could fit age wise.
Maybe the age is 57 and not 27.

I assume since he was about 6 to 8 years he left with his mother . I believe Mathew had no idea where they went west but probably Ohio where Oscar lived and married and had children. The last entry I found in the book is birth 11/1869, 1 yr. after Sherman was married. I assume Rhoda remarried and lived under her new name with little or no contact with the Stickney family. Question does anyone know Oscars date of death, burial and also any info on Rhoda Hazen,and Marilla Stockman. Would like an exact date and burial place for Abijah. Just gathered this regarding the Oscar you have mentioned. He was a son of Johnathon and Sophia Stickney. He died in the war in 1862 and was unmarried.He was born in 1835. Johnathon descended from William Stickney and Elizabeth Dawson as did our Oscar.

Still trying to find information on our Oscar. With the lack of information it is hard to figure how we have any information at all regarding him. I wonder if some one has the birth certificate or death certificate for Sherman Stickney? Those would show the parents name. Or possibly Shermans marriage certificate?

Oscar 's father Abijah died in the war of 1812 which means Oscar may have been 6 or so at that time. Abijah's wife Rhoda Hazen is said to have moved west after thiswith Oscar. Oscar must have returned to Ohio later in life since Sherman was born in Ohio. All food for thought.Still looking an hour or two every night. LOL.

I was born Lawrence Francis stickney in Tokyo Japan Dec 10th 1951. Given up for adoption in Japaneese orphanage 18 months later. Not sure of birthmothers first name but believe she was in the army at time of birth. Natural fathers name was hancock and he was a major in the army.
Adoption went thru State Dept in Washington but they will not co-operate. Just taking a shot here.
Adopted Lawrence francis Smith in Japan. Fathers name was Raymond Joseph and was in thee army there .

YES! It is the same family. George Randall Field and Rhoda Stickney are my great grandparents. I would be most grateful to have any information you have on the Jaqua family. Here is all the information I have been able to find.

Daniel's mother's maiden name was Stearns but I have no information on his father.

Abigail Jaqua, b. 5 Nov 1831 in Seneca County, Ohio, died 18 Nov 1905 in Beaver Creek, rock, MN

They were married 26 Sep 1848 in Branch County, Michigan

children:

Rhoda was born 5 Nov 1854 in Batavia, Branch co., Michigan and died 18198 in Leadville, CO

Theodore was born in 1857 in Batavia, Branch, MI and died 3 May 1930 in Eden, Pipestone, MN

Dolora (Della) Stickney Yarrow was born 1860 in Batavia

Netta Stickney was born in 1866 in Buckingham, Tama County, Iowa

Gary, Augustine W., b. Apr. 29, 1848 m. Mary J. White, dec. 31, 1868. Augustine was one of 15 children of Henry C. Stickney (whose 3rd wife went off with the spiritualists) Augustine is #2149 in the Stickney book. and my great-grandfather. His grandfather was Abiel Stickney who married Sally Kittredge.

Lee Marie, I would like very much to discuss Joseph Earl Stickney and, particularly, Nancy Jane Smalley with you. I have been working on the Stickney Family History for years and am about ready to give it up but Joseph Earl still haunts me. He and his family are the only ones of Zephaniah Stickney's children that I could not trace.
Just a couple of months ago, through my subscription in Ancestry.com I located Joseph out west and was delighted but by this time he was m. to another lady and I still know nothing about Nancy Jane who, I believe, was his second wife.
Perhaps there is something I could help YOU with? I used to live in Watervliet MI, a Stickney stomping ground and have much info on later generations. Matter of fact, I was m. to a Stickney for 25 years and have four Stickney daughters.
To touch on the original thread of this query, you have talked about A B I A L. The querist is talking about A B I E L who m. Diana Churchill and went to IL. Took me a while to figure that out but I guess she found out where he is buried in IL and that was her question in the first place.

You may want to check out the family of Daniel Stickney, b. 26 Jan 1762, NH who died 13 Jul 1824 in Penfield, Monroe Co., NY. He had a son Daniel born 17 Oct 1802 in Penfield, Monroe, NY. Daniel Sr. moved from NH abt. 1802 and settled in Penfield.
There was a Daniel Stickney (1730-1813) who descended from William who settled in Boston abt. 1638 (Daniel, Samuel, John, William). Daniel settled in Enfield, NH and several of his children lived in that area and in Plainfield, NH. The Daniel b. 1762 was residing in Plainfield, NH in 1789 and then moved to Penfield, Monroe, NY.
