My grandparents lived in Maryville Tenn. Elizabeth and Oliver Stinnett. I would appreciate any info you have as I would love to know my heritage. My foks died when I was a teen so I don't have much to go on.

Thank you Teresa. I posted the query in 2008 when I was trying to find out a little more about what happened to the Ragar family. I think Donna married Theodore Gray whose parents were Richard Gray and Geraldine Ragar. Curiously, Geraldine's middle name was Lavera - Donna's mother and her mother-in-law Laverna had almost the same name.

I found a death record for Geraldine (1995 at Los Angeles Co) and I think Richard Gray was older and may also be dead. They had a younger son Michael and daughter Maureen besides Theodore, all of whom I would suppose are still living.

Geraldine's parents were Herbert Ragar and (Sara) Glada Roman. There was an older sister Darlyne. The Ragars went to church with my parents Manly and Hazel Meissner in Los Angeles in the 1920s, and I remember their family visiting ours in the 1930s when I was growing up. Darlyne was very close in age to my sister Doris, and Geraldine was a couple of weeks older than me (b Nov 1928).

Just started working my tree...from the start i knew my Great Grandfather Frinize Hunter Stinnett was going to give me trouble. He married Louise L Hudson and they had 1 child Frinzie Earl Stinnett. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

STINNETT family in Eagle Pass, TX

I'm searching for a Stinnett family who were in Eagle Pass, TX in the 1860s. William Stinnett, thought to have been born in France, married Nancy Lee Thursday (or Thirsty) of Oklahoma. Their son, John, was born in Eagle Pass around 1867.

I am trying to confirm this information for one of their descendants and would be grateful for any leads.

So far as I know right now, I am not related to Thomas. That may change in the future, however.

I posted the information because I occasionally check the obits from my hometown newspaper (Louisville KY) and saw it; thinking someone else may be interested in it.

I "AM" however, related to the Stinnetts because my great-grandmother was Louella Alma Stinnett (1875-1958) of Daviess County Kentucky; she married Norval Wesley Moseley.

STINNETT, THOMAS, 71, of Louisville, entered into rest Monday, September 22, 2008. He worked at the old Stauffer Chemical Company and was a pipefitter with Local 522. Mr. Stinnett was a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Stinnett; two daughters, Ellie and Abby Stinnett; three sons, Tom, Jim and David Stinnett; seven grandchildren, including Alexander and Jacob; five brothers, Walter, Glen, Alvin Jr., Clarence and Danny Stinnett; and two sisters, Thelma King and Margie Pate. His funeral service will be at noon on Thursday at the Hardy Funeral Home with interment following in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 2-8 p.m.

We talked several years ago. You and your mother, I believe, visited my mother, Lillian , daughter of Ethel Stinnett Brown.

My mother has always maintained one of her ancestors was a Cherokee Indian, She did not know her last name but said her first name was Margaret. Margaret Warren fits the time but I have no idea of the accuracy my assumption. Bill Smith referenced a birth certificate that did not indicate Inuit. But if she had been adopted the birth certificate would have been changed.

Now, thinking about it, I will give my Aunt Josie, Mom's sister, a call and see what she might recall.

I am back in Kentucky again, residing in Lexington.

Mom is healthy but is experiencing Alzheimers. She is still at the same house in Louisville where you all met.

Stinnett - Salina, KS

I am searching for descendants of John and Elizabeth/Lizzie Stinnett who lived with their daughter and son-in-law, Walsie and Harvey Fickes in Salina in 1930. John may have had a brother named Dick Stinnett who also lived in Salina. Other children include Arthur Stinnett (m. Virgie) and George E. Stinnett (m. Christina Merriam Wolf). George and Christina's obituaries indicate they had several children, grand-children and great-grandchildren so I am hoping that there are still living descendants of this family.

Elizabeth Stinnett was the sister of my great-grandfather, George W. Coker. John was the brother of my great-grandmother, Anna Stinnett.

There is an ancestry member with the user name Lily706 who appears to have some of these folks in a Johnson family tree. There is some kind of error in the profile however and I have been unable to contact this person.

Any information that would lead me to descendants of this family would be appreciated.

My great grandfather is George Winfield Stinnett he or his family came from the AR area. Later they moved to the Merced and Mariposa Area of Ca.

Gilbert Stinnett of Commanche county, buried in the ebenezor cemetary outside De Leon Tx. is my gr gr grandfather. His son Thomas Jackson Stinnett is my Greatgrdfather, therefore must be a sibling of Mary Elizebeth. Very interesting. Never heard my grandmother speak much of aunts and uncles although she did say they used to go to Eastland when she was a child alot. Are there more siblings? Thks

My grandfather was a Stinnett,his name was Roy Lee.I remember hearing the name of Bessie.My grandfather and grandmother lived and died in Owensboro Ky.I believe we are of Indian decent.I hope I was of some help.

My Grandfather was Robert Dalford Stinnett born 9/9/1882 Maryville, Tennessee, Blount County, he died 12/14/1960 Winston Salem, North Carolina. He married Nellie Roberta Melvinia Hudgens she was born 7/26/1896 Maryville, Tennessee, she died 11/14/1977 Columbia, SC.

They had 3 children

1-James Robert Stinnett

2- Mary Evelyn Stinnett born 6/2/1921 Maryville,TN
Blount County
died 12/13/2003 Columbia, SC, she married Oliver Eskridge Ivey on 11/2/1938 Fort Lawn SC. he was born March 29, 1919 Winnsboro,SC.
3rd child was John Joseph Stinnett born 8/6/1923 Maryville,TN Blount County, he died 7/7/1989 Kannapolis, NC, he married Velma Edgison born 5/11/1919
died 2/17/2006 Kannapolis, NC Cabarrus County

I just found these posts when I searched my dad's name. I am Thomas' daughter. I don't recognize Louella or James Stinnett, but that means nothing. Most of my dad's family stayed in Hardinsburg, while he moved to Louisville, KY. He moved around a bit in his younger days, and my immeadiate family isn't close to my father's extended family. My old sign in name was latewing, thought I'd let you know so you can follow my messages concerning the Stinnetts'.

From what I can determine so far, there was/are two different families of Stinnetts here in Daviess County Kentucky. I don't know if they connect or not, I haven't got into that far of the research.

My line of Stinnetts start with James Stinnett and Cecilia Bryant.

They had a son named Dennis, I'm sure they had more children, I just don't have the info noted.

Dennis married [widow] Elizabeth [Dunn] Harrison, on Feb. 6, 1854, in Hawsville, Hancock Co. Ky.

Dennis and Elizabeth's children were:
James Henry [my line]
Charlotte
Floyd
Alice
Addie

James Henry married Mary Jane Robison [Robinson] June 22, 1890 in Daviess Co. Ky.

I'm not sure if your line connects or not, maybe you will know, but if they lived in Daviess Co., the possibility is there. I have never found any Indian connection.

I do have several George W. Stinnett's if you have any dates it would help alot in loking for them. Also several Thomas and alot of William's. on the Mary Jane Odell not sure. Hi! I read all the postings and from what I can see we link together. James and Cecilia are in my outline. Thanks for posting their child and so forth. My line is from the Amherst, Virginia area but back in the 1800's Stinnett families moved all over the place like TX, TN, AR, KY, and AL just to name a few.
The Flowers and Stinnett line connects when Rafe Flowers from Ireland married Betsy Stinnett back in the 1700's.
