Wiley is found in Morgan County, Georgia on the 1823 and 1824 tax digest indexes with his father, I believe, Hillery. He, Hillery and Reddin all receive land in the Land Lottery in 1827 in Georgia, with their relative, Thomas Stocks, son of Isaac Stocks (married to Catherine Heard) presiding as President of the Legislature.

Robert Stocks was born in Yorkshire, to Charles and Mary Stocks(Byass) 2 0r 3 brothers left for America John, Robert and maybe Thomas Henry. One brother went to Australia, Edward. One half brother Charles Henry stayed in England and maybe Robert's sisters. I do have additional information.

I have been researching the same line. My gggrandfather was Guilford Stocks, brother of Redding, Wright, Wylie, and Isaac. I have a chart drawn by one of our relatives that indicates that William was their father, and a Stocks b. 1720 and d.1792 was his father. You indicate that John of Pike Co, NC. I would appreciate any information you have about this family.

Some time ago I was given erroneous information that Basil Wilson of Missouri married a Sarah Ann Stocks, who had been married in 1863 to James Wilkins. That is totally incorrect and has been copied many times. Basil Wilson married Sarah WILKINS, born 1844 in TN. child of Emoline/Eveline Wilkins. She bore a child known as Mollie/Mary Wilkins/Wilson in 1863. She was not married. Source 1930 Census. I will be glad to share information. ewhite9159@gmail.com

B 1836 and a sister Agnes 1841 My g Grangmother was Eglantine b 1837

I an interested in two brothers from Staleybridge, who are now burried together in Bebington cemetery:
(1) Samuel Edward Stocks (1851-1916) who married Sarah Ann Miller (1850-1906).
(2) Albert Stocks (1853-1922) tho married Rebecca Ann Robinson (1851-1928).

Samuel's 9 children were: Ann (1872), George (1874), Phoebe (1877), Gertrude (1882), Emily (1883), Sarah Ann (1886), Samuel (1888), Sussanah (1891) and John (1894).

If anyone has details of them and their life, or has pictures of Samuel Stocks and family, then please contact me.

Are you still interested in the Argyle Taylor Stocks family? What did you ever find out in your search?

My father and great grandfather were both Argyle Taylor Stocks. My great grandfather was Thomas Guilford STocks whose brother was Argyle Taylor STocks.

I am trying to go back through the generations. It isn't easy. Guilford was their father, and, it looks like William was Guilford's father.

I would love to have any information you have learned through your search.

I am replying as my great grandfather was Thomas Jefferson (Jack) Stocks from Sand Mountain Alabama. That is as far as our history goes. He was a twin to George Washington (Jasper) Stocks. My Grandfather was Dovard Belmont Stocks. I have no family history as I was the last remiaing male to carry family name until my son was born 6 years ago. My father and grandparents are all gone as well as my grandfathers only brother Ray Stocks of Boaz, AL. I would be interested to see if we have any connections there. The twins were orphaned as I understood and raised with the McCormick Family of Boaz area, Alabama.

Searching for Albert STOCKS who married Alice G DAVIDS. Alice was born in Rice County, Minnestoa in 1868 and went to Brule County, South Dakota with her family around 1883. She married Albert Stocks, probably in Brule County, South Dakota.

They had at least one child, Vinnie. I have 3 photos of this family - one is of Albert, Alice and Vinnie Stocks, photo 2 is Vinnie E Stocks 1896 age 3 - 7 and photo 3 - graduation Olive Vinnie Stocks, with note now Vinnie Stewert.

Vinnie was a 1st cousin to my grandfather. Any information on this family will be appreciated.

I know nothing of Florence Elaine Stocks. Also Cyril had a brother i think Norman Heath Wallwork who also lived and died in Blackpool. Can anyone help

Elizabeth Bennett b. 1860 - 1865 in Netherton, Worcestershire as the daughter of William Bennett, a coal miner. She was married to Silvanus Beddard November 17, 1884 in Barnsley, Yorkshire. They had three children: Silvanus b. 1884/85, Ellen Elizabeth b. 1885/86, Thomas Daniel Mar 1892. During the years of 1886 and 1887 they lived in the Wakefield Union House. Silvanus has been known for Coal Mining and Butcher work. Silvanus JR died in 1890/91, Silvanus SR in 1893. Elizabeth Hannah Beddard then married a John Henry Denton. They had a daughter named Lily Denton born in 1899. They emmigrated to Nova Scotia, Canada in 1903 - 1906. John and Lily either died in England or Nova Scotia, or just stayed behind when Elizabeth moved to British Columbia, Canada with her son Daniel. She then married a John Penford Stocks (b. 1875 in Basford, England). They married in West Fernie, British Columbia, Canada on 28 Apr 1913. John P. Stocks died 10 Aug 1958 in Saanich, British Columbia, Canada. Elizabeth died as Elizabeth H. B. Stocks in Fernie, British Columbia, Canada on 18 Jun 1932. I also believe she may have been related to George and Emma Hadley on the 1881 census as well as Pheobe Hadley (age 28) on the 1871 census. I feel this is how she met her husband. Silvanus and Elizabeth had lived together at the time of their marriage. Any information relating to any of the individuals in Elizabeth's life or her own would be greatly appriciated. Ellen, her daughter, is my great great grandma.

My father was William Warren Donovan, son of Catherine Donovan, daughter of John Donovan and Margaret Dunn. We do not know the name of his father nor what happened to his mother. William was raised by an uncle, Joseph Donovan. William was the nephew of Margaret Donovan Stocks. After John Donovan died, Margaret Dunn Donovan married Robert Laughlin. Robert Laughlin's daughter Mary married Malcolm Franklin Hearn. Another child of John & Margaret, Helen Donovan married Charles McCreary. There are more children of John & Margaret. I do have some more information and would LOVE to have any information anyone can provide.

I am trying to compile information on my ggggg-grandmother Nancy Stocks Smith who married Parmalee Smith in the 1800's. An 1870 census says that she was born in Georgia. Information I have also says she was an Indian. Any help anyone has is much appreciated. I do know she was born 10-19-1814 and died 03/05/1903. All i know is that he married Varena Elizabeth Radford. and they had at least one child who was Pearl Blanche Stocks. Pearl was born in 4 Aug 1881/82 in Fremont Township, Buchanan County, IA. She lived in Iowa her whole life. and Married John James Pogue. Together they had five children

Pearl died due to complications with child birth with last child Roy and then after he was kind of adopted by walley and birtha brown.

If anyone has any information on this family i would be verry verrry interested in exchanging what i have for anything new. I seem to have come to a bit of a wall.

I am searching for more info on my Stocks ancestry. My great-great-great grandfather was Robert Stocks, born 1853 in Retford, Nottinghamshire, England. He married Martha Ellis, who was born in 1861 in Doncaster, Yorkshire, England. They had 5 children, all born in Sheffield, Yorkshire. Martha and Robert and their children emmigrated to Canada around the early 1900s.

My Father's relatives came from Shireoaks, Nottinghamshire
and before that from Pinxton and Tibshelf in Derbyshire,
on the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border. They were mostly
coalmining families. If your research is in these areas,

I have a Joseph Stocks born abt 1857 in Carterville,IL. He was married to Nora Ellen Beasley. Joseph was son of Rueben born abt 1831 in England. He died 10Jun 1886 in Williamson County,IL. His wife was Nancy Adaline North. I believe rueban and Nancy are buried in North Cem. near Carterville,IL. If you have anything on decendents of Joseph and Nora would love to hear from you. I have the middle name as Barton, but the info is from the funeral home in New Haven, IN and there are several errors, so Barlow is okay with me. He was my grandfather.
His first (?) wife was Margaret Hasteday from Germany. She died May 11, 1898. I know they had a son, Samuel Joseph Stocks who married Italy Belle Hazen (parents from Canada).

There are two other children, but I'm not sure who their mother was - I thought Maria, but the time line is wrong: Orpheus (a boy) and "Ottie", a girl. There are only two people, living, who know and they never saw the girl's name in print. I found Orpheus on the death index for the Latter Day Saints web site, and I have a pic. of Orpheus, but his name is written Orphia on the back.

After Margaret died, William B. married my grandmother, Mary Louise Aubrey, on June 1, 1899, (I have the actual marriage license), and they had two children, my father, Newton William Stocks and his sister, Estella.

Looking for the descendants of Thomas STOCKS and Ann LAWRIE who were married in 1875 at Aberdeen (the surname changed to Stokes when they moved to Glasgow. They had the following children -

2. Hugh Stokes.

3. James Stokes was born 21 Dec 1882 in Aberdeen.

4. Annie Lawrie Stokes was born 7 July 1890 in Glasgow. She died 14 apr 1948 in Glasgow.

I'm looking for my grandfathers family. He was William Stocks b.28 jan 1907, in Springhill,Nova Scotia, Canada. His siblings were:- Wilf, David, Archie, Jim, Lottie, Nellie and Minnie born in Northumberland. Parents:- James Stocks and Mabel ?. Need to know Mabels maiden name.
