The "One Jesse 3 Stockton" theory is that the only Jesse 3 Stockton was Jesse 3 (Thomas 2, Davis 1) Stockton. In his will Thomas 2 Stockton, Sr., left his plantation to his son "Jessee." The "Two Jesse 3 Stocktons" theory is that there was also a Jesse 3 (Samuel 2, Davis 1) Stockton. The two major problems for the "Two Jesse 3 Stocktons" theory is that there are no records that show two different Jesse 3 Stocktons, and the will of Samuel 2 Stockton did NOT mention a son Jesse.
Mr. Catalano posted the following information about the "One Jesse 3 Stockton" theory.
"It has come to my attention that a theory proposing there is only one Jesse Stockton (Jesse 3, Thomas 2, Davis 1) exists. This theory is completely based on tax records from Virginia in the late 1780s and early 1790s." Mr. Catalano is NOT telling the truth about this.
My paper that Mr. Catalano is referring to includes will records, deed records for Virginia, North Carolina and Kentucky, tax records for Virginia, North Carolina and Kentucky, census records for North Carolina, Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana, court records for North Carolina, marriage records for Virginia and Kentucky, and much more. Yet Mr. Catalano states that the "One Jesse 3 Stockton" theory "is completely based on tax records from Virginia in the late 1780s and early 1790s." Mr. Catalano is WRONG about this, and he knows he is WRONG.
If anyone would like a copy of my paper, "Jesse 3 and Mary (nee Hays) Stockton of Albemarle County, Virginia" please let me know. Mr. Catalano was NOT telling the truth when he wrote that "Census records prove conclusively" that there was a Jesse 3 (Samuel 2, Davis 1) Stockton. Mr. Catalano was also NOT telling the truth when he wrote that I believed my Stockton family was related to the New Jersey family until DNA proved otherwise. And Mr. Catalano is NOT telling the truth when he states that the "One Jesse 3 Stockton" theory is completely based on tax records from Virginia in the late 1780's and early 1790's.
On one of Mr. Catalano's sites he shows Davis 1 Stockton as born in Flushing, Queens, New York, and that he was married to Sarah Anthony Gudylouch. Any serious Stockton family researcher will quickly realize that Mr. Catalano's research is full of pure guesswork. Just as he presents NO evidence that Samuel 2 Stockton had a son Jesse, he presents NO evidence that Davis Stockton was born in Flushing, Queens, New York, or that Sarah Stockton's maiden name was Gudylouch.
I have asked Mr. Catalano to post the census records he claims "prove conclusively" that there was a Jesse 3 (Samuel 2, Davis 1) Stockton. So far he has not posted these census records. This claim by Mr. Catalano is NOT to be believed.
I have a very good photocopy of T. J. Stockton's 1898 book that I can send by snail mail. T. J. Stockton is the source of the "Two Jesse 3 Stocktons" theory. You can decide for yourself if you think T. J. Stockton's information about Samuel 2 Stockton is credible, I don't think that it is. I know for a fact that Mr. Catalano's information is not credible.
