Arthur Stokes
I am research Arthur Stokes b. abt 1745-50. He lived in Jones Co. North Carolina and moved to Barnswell district SC, where I believe he died. I am trying to find out who his parents were and how he fits in to the lines discussed in LeMack Stokes's book (The Book of Stokes). I have read on here somewhere that Arthur's father was William, born abt 1710, but that doesn't fit with any of the names I know from the book. Any ideas on this? Another question is that from the book, John Stokes had a son named David (born 1707) who started the Carolina branch of the family. Perhaps William was a brother of David? You would thnk there would have been more than one child, of John, but only one was mentioned.
