Lloyd Love Stonehocker was born 1 Jun 1878 at Barnard, Nodaway Co., MO, son of Joseph and Mary Ann Rosannah (Woodring) Stonehocker. Joseph was born in 1847 in White Eyes twp., Coshocton Co., OH, son of John M. and Mary (Pew) Stonehocker.
Lloyd was a good friend of Charles Lewis Bole, my grandfather, who lived in Washington Co., KS.
As the story goes Lloyd, as a young man, was diagnosed as having comsumption and told he only had a few years to live. He decided to see as much of the country as he could in the time he had, eventually ending up in northwestern Canada and Alaska working as a commercial fisherman and hunting guide.
The only time I ever met him was in 1956 at Minot, ND, when he came to visit my grandmother, Elsie (Speers) Bole. I was sixteen-years-old at the time and mightily impressed by him.
I found him listed in the 1911 Canadian census in Victoria with his wife Bell, but I don't know if he had a family. I'm curious to know when he died. Any information would be welcome.
