Hi, I have been to the Friendship Bapt Church in Honea Path area and taken photos of gravesite of Vardre and Winnie Stoner. Their daughter, Alberta (or Berta), was my beloved Great-Grandmother "Granny Hill." She told me the photo I posted at my website was her grandfather Perry Stoner returning back from the outhouse. So that is ironclad. About Perry's final resting place I know nothing - since he was from Spartanburg area I believe he might be buried there. I have also heard on the Ancestry boards that Margaret Deen (wife) may have been part-Cherokee. Granny Hill never mentioned this to me or wrote this in her dairy (which I have posted on line). Granny's Hill brother Arthur Stoner died after WWI in the TB Hospital in Otee, NC. I have spoken to his daughter and she provided photos of Arthur. Maybe someday a photo will turn up of Vardre - he died in 1940s so surely someone has a photo of him. Thank you for writing/
Sorry, but I don't have any photos. Vardre was the brother of Thomas David Stoner, the father of Henry Homer Stoner (my grandfather). I have been working on Stoner line for about a year now. On Vardre I have the Obit and a photo of his grave in Honea Path but no photos. I have received a photo that MAY be Perry David Stoner but can't be verified. I have a photo of Vardre's brother William (Will) Henry Lawrence who lived in Enoree , SC. I also have a photo of Thomas David Stoner and his family from about 1920. Do you have any info on what happened to Perry David Stoner or Maggis M. Stoner?
In the 1910 Census they are listed as living in Greenville, SC but I can't find anything after that. He died in 1914 but he is not buried at Cedar Shoals, SC along side Margreta Dean Stoner (his wife).

AB or B Blood groups for Sussex Stennings, Stoners, Peacocks or Roses

My grandfather, Arthur Edward Stenning 1914 - 2004, had a notably Meditteranean appearance and AB blood. As far as I can trace our ancestry among the above 4 surnames they all seem to be Sussex local agricultural labourers. So where did the B come from? If I can find which relatives of the above surnames share the AB or B blood it might help spot where it "crept it". Help please!
Looking for connections to Arthur Stenning 1879-1964, Caroline Stoner, Fanny Mathilda Peacock or (Ester) Emily Rose.

Re: Paul Stoner Son Name

David Stoner and Susan Adams had a son David H Stoner. David H Stoner married Celia Williams and they had several children. One of which is my Grandfather Henry Albert Stoner. Some of my grandfather's siblings are Dencie Etta, Mabel, Willard, Olan, and Thomas Stoner. Henry Albert Stoner married Lydia Lenora (Oechsle) Stoner of Van Wert Co. Ohio. They had 5 children 3 of which died as infants. they had my mother Marjorie (Stoner) Smith and my uncle Richard Lee (Dick) Stoner. Richard lives in Fort Wayne and is Magician. He and my grandfather (Albert) started Stoner's Fun Stores. my mother was living in Fort Wayne until 1985 when she and my father moved to Coldwater, Michigan. My sister and I both live in Fort Wayne. I am looking for more information on Paul Stoner who I believe is David's father born in 1816. I have the will of Catherine Stoner (his mother who died in 1919). She left Paul in the care of George Hackett in this will. John and Jacob Stoner are also mentioned in this will. The will was written in Richland Co. Ohio. There is a lot of info on the internet about the Stoners in BloomingGrove Township Richland Co. OH.
Cheryl Huffman
chuffman@gmail.com

I am looking for the exact same info. I do have a copy of Catherine Stoner's will of 1819 where she died and left her son Paul Stoner in the care of George Hackett. They were living in BloomingGrove Township Richland co. OH. Since Paul was only 3 at this time, there is no record of him on the census. Only head of households are listed in 1820, 1830, 1840. I did find a paul Stoner on the 1840 census. i can't remember if it was Mercer Co. or Richland Co. I can't seem to find the connection of why George Hackett kept Paul and not John or Jacob Stoner who are also mentioned in this will.
Cheryl Huffman
Chuffman@gmail.com

Re: Parents of? John Jacob Stoner

My grandfather was Henry Albert Stoner b. 1904, who lived in Celina, OH Mercer Co. My grandfather had many brothers and sisters. Some of which are Willard, Olan, Mabel, Dencie Etta, Frank, Thomas. His father was David H Stoner and and mother Celia (Williams) Stoner. It could be that one of David's brothers had a child who is your great grandfather. I can't remember his brother's names but they are on the census of Mercer county around 1860 or 1870.Henry Albert's Grandfather was David Stoner b. 1834. I believe the great or great great grandfather to be John or Jacob. It appears they moved to Celina/Lima area from Bloomingrove Township Richland Co. Ohio. I am trying to find a census linking them but the 1840 census only shows head of household. It appears that several different people have entered this family tree in Ancestry.com. John and Jacob stoner can be found several times in the plat maps of BloomingGrove township Richland Co. OH and also in the biography section around 1820-1830. Just type in these dates and the name of township and county on your browser and you will see the sites that contain information. It is very interesting.
Cheryl Huffman
chuffman48@gmail.com

I also found them in a Kosciusko IN Census in 1870.

Let me know if you have any connections.

"Flossie/Flossy" STONER B. 1890/91 KS most likely died in CA

For several years I've been looking for information regarding Flossie (or Flossy) Stoner who was born in KS in 1890 or 1891. Her given name may have been Tharsia (or maybe Theresa?). She's found in the 1920 census along with her husband, Hal H Shackelton and two sons Hary W (b. 6/1914) and Jack W (b. 1918) in CA. The 1930 CA census recorded her as Tharsia with the same husband and children.

Husband Hal died in Los Angeles, CA in September of 1940.

Hopefully there's a Stoner family out there that might recognize some of these people who are attached to their trees?????

Would appreciate your help!!!

Leslie (AZ)

I am also looking for more information on this line, but it has been hard to come by. Duane Elmer Stoner (b. April 8, 1932) passed away on September 26, 2006 due to metasticized cancer. Married Velva Mae Crabtree (b. October 28, 1922, d. September 28, 1998) on November 30, 1968. I believe he was previously married, but I have no information on that.

I know you posted this 9 years ago and by now may have all the info you need, anyway....I live in East Tennesse and am the ggrandaughter of Andrew Jackson Stoner of Sevier Co., TN. I just started looking into his family roots. Found in the 1870 US Census in Sevier County George R. Stoner and Rebecca Stoner both from South Carolina. Their youngest child was listed as George R. age 7 in 1870. If you have already found this line I am looking for the parents of George R. Stoner Sr. born around 1818 in South Carolina. His father was born in North Carolina according to info I found in the 1900 US Census.
I hope you get this message and can respond.
Thanks
Janet R.
e-mail JTeacup@chartertn.net

I am the ggranddaughter of Andrew Jackson Stoner of Sevier County Tennesse. I just started researching roots. Found in 1870 US Census a family George R. Stoner (born around 1818) and wife Rebecca both born in South Carolina. One of their sons, is listed as Joseph F. Stoner, 8 years old in 1870, would put his birth around 1862. Another brother in that family is William P. Stoner, 20 years old in 1870, I believe he is the father of Andrew Jackson.
If you have found any other info on the family of George R. Stoner please contact me.
Thanks

Sorry that I did not have your family information for my book. My gg-grandfather was a brother to Cephas Lash who was Katharine Lash's father. I only had one son listed for Clarence Stoner. Is that correct? If you would like to buy a copy of my book, I will send you an order form.

I live in Grove, Oklahoma. I attended a Stoner reunion last June near Ponca City, OK. It was great fun to meet them.

My Lash family were wheat farmers in OK also, but we did not know the Stoners until a few years ago.

Shirley Lash

The book is all about the Lash family starting with Peter Loesch (Lash) and his wife Margaret. It covers all of their descendants who would admit relationship. As in most families years ago families intermarried with each other so it also covers part of the Greenawalt family. There are quite a few pictures of the family members including some pictures from the Lash reunion held at the Lash farm near West Newton, PA.

Send your mailing address to salash@sbcglobal.net and I can mail you an order form which also tells about the book.
