I just happened to come across your info and I too am a decendent of John Storm. It carries down through William Washington Storm, James Buchanan Storm (he came to Texas and settled in Wood County). His son Wash Storm was born there and he was my grandfather. I have some family history written by a family member in the 30's. It could be the same info.

Hi Harry:

Do you descend from Dirck Storm? It sounds like you do from the fact that you said the name started as Storm and then the "s" was added. I'm not sure of the rest of the Storm(s) family but my line which is from Dirck Storm, Hendrick Storm, Staets Storm, Staas Storm(s), Johannis Storms, John Storms, David Storms did change the name once they moved from Tarrytown NY to Paramus NJ.

What information are you looking for?

I'm David Storm, son of Charles Storm who was Frances' brother. I did a google on William Storm, my grandfather and found my way here. I'm always trying to find out where he came from and who he was, but it seems to be a dead end. Also trying to get contacts to other Storm offspring, children of the siblings, Frances, Ray, and Bob. The last I saw of any was back in the 50's when we visted Bob Storm and family in Omak, WA. Let me know if you get this note. I'd really like to hear from some other Storms.
Dave Storm, Sacramento, CA (infobiker@yahoo.com)
Katharine,

I have recently received an update to my family's geneology from a relative that is excrucitatingly intense about cross checking facts and his information is slightly different than what you posted in 2000 for Ewald Storm b.1569 mar. Eva van Swaenswyck.

You have Ewald as sire of 5 children, one of which is Dirck b.1630 d.1716 mar. Maria Pieterse Van Montford. The lineage I received for Dirck b.1630 d.1716 mar. Maria Pieterse Van Montford is his parent was Dirick b. 1599 mar. Eva Van Swaenswyck, and Dirck b. 1630 was sired by Ewald.

My info does not include any children of Ewald other than Dirick b.1599 and has Maria b.1663 as b.1662 and no other children included in the data.

Except for the missing generation under Ewald, your data matches what I have extremely closely and is more extensive for offspring out of my direct lineage. I would like to compare notes with you and see which version is correct in this respect as well as fleshing out some of the other siblings of my lineage.

Regards,
John Robertson

Stars and Stripes newspaper, the WWII Europe Edition
Monday 21st of June 1948.
Holdup Wave Hits Chicago: Chief of Detectives Walter Storm was ordered today to put every availabvle detective in the street to check a wave of daylight holdups and window smashings which has arisen here.
The order to "clean up those robberies or else" came from Police Commissioner John Prendergast after robbers cleaned up abut $27,000 in three holdups Friday. Early ysterday men in an automobile smashed 15 display windows in a number of stores and escaped after shots were fired by a squad car.
I am not researching this family.
Ohio Storm/Storms

I have finally found some information on my grandmothers family.
She was Lizzie (Elizabeth) Storm, daughter of Allen B Storm and mother was Florence B Long. she was born 24 June 1892, died 3 July 1925.
Allen B Storm was born 4 June 1858 to William H Storm and Charlotte Smith, died 17 March 1901. Florence B Long was born 18 Nov 1861 to Henry Long and Elizabeth Krister (?) and died 4 Sept 1914
William H Storm died on 30 July 1897 at age 73 and Charlotte died 13 May 1911. Charlottes' parents are unknown and she was possibly born 2 June 1836 in Maysville, Kentucky.
The 1880 census shows William and parents born in Ohio and Charlotte born KY and parents England.

Does anyone have more information on this family?
Thanks

Re: Storm

I thought I posted a message on this message board about a possible connection to this Storms family and my VanDeusen family -- but I do not find it here. My ancestors were Martin VanDeusen and wife Elizabeth Ostrander VanDeusen whose children were baptised at Claverack, Columbia Co, NY until 1778 when they moved "west". They had five more children born after that date and these are listed in the 1912 two volume VanDeusen genealogy but are show with only their names and approximate birthyears. One of these five was "Lucretia VanDeusen, b. abt 1786, married Storms". A search in the 1850 census revealed that a Lucretia Storms, born 1786 was living at Huron, Wayne Co, NY with her son, Samuel Storms and family. I believe this is your ancestor and I am wondering if we can pursue the possibility that the Lucretia from my VanDeusen family could also be your ancestor. I will be pleased to hear from you.

Re: Looking for Joey

Hi Anne, I live in the Camden/Annsville, NY area. In the early 1800's there were 3 or 4 different Isaacs' living here. My Isaac D. Storm was born 1753 in Tarrytown. His father was David T. Storm 1717-1779. David was married twice. Isaac's mother was the second wife Elizabeth Gardenier. Isaac D. was married to Abigail Graham 1753/55.
They moved to this area along with some of the other cousins. Could you tell me who Isaac B.'s father was and the birthdates? I have found that most of the Storm/Storms were named after each brother, father, uncle, etc. I have researched most of the Storm/Storms around the area as well as in NY, but I would need dates or even fathers, mothers, wives, sisters, brothers. I hope I can help. Pat (Storms) Jones.
P.S. Joey happens to be a cousin that was taken by his mom away from all of the family when he was around 2. No one knows where he went or what has happened to him. I was just hoping Joey or someone who knows him would answer. He would be about 55 or 56 now.
ejones04@twcny.rr.com (answer to my e-mail is ok.)

Pat,
Sorry I can’t help you with Joey. I hope you find him soon.
(Yahoo kept sending my e-mails back)
About Isaac B. Storm—He lived in Lee, NY in the 1800’s. I would guess he is the one that was married to Martha Hilton. The Hiltons started in Albany and stayed in NY until my GG Grandfather moved
his family to Michigan and the Storms went to Ohio. My grandfather came to Texas. Here’s what I have:
David Storm b 2/10/1717 in Tarrytown M 1740 to Catherine Lent b 4/24/1722 Westchester Co.
Son--David Jr. b 9/12/1741 Westchester Co. M 8/7/1761 to Anna Hunt b?
Daughter—Anna Storm b 9/6/1757 M Richard Hilton b 6/30/1753 Albany. (Their children are Martha & Peter)
Isaac Storm (son of Jr.) b 3/31/1779 Rensselaer Co. M Martha Hilton b 3/8/1784 NY.
Richard Storm (son of Isaac) b abt 1805 Oswego Co. M abt 1833 Louisa Hilton (Peter’s daughter) b abt 1815 NY.
Then there is Peter Hilton (Anna Storm & Richard Hilton’s son) b 10/17/1780 M Betsie Storm/Watson/? We think she might be kin to the Storms. (I don’t know where the Watson came from) They had 5 children, which included my GG Grandfather. Betsie died bet 1820-21 because Peter remarried in 1821-23 and had 8 or 9 more children. All of these stayed in NY. What we’re trying to find out: Is there a Storm we don’t know about that could be the father of Betsie?
Pat, I read the post-em you put on the ged. of either David or Isaac Storm. Is the Isaac B. Storm in the 1820 census in Lee, NY your ancestor? Several Storms intermarried with Hiltons in that part of NY.

I am his youngest daughter. We are from the Storm line that goes from him to Herman Ross Storm, Thomas R. Storm and etc. My tree have been posted so far. If any Storms out there can help me finish this for him I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!

Thank you. But, from what I was told by the cemetery is that Dirck Storm's monument is just that and that he is not buried there but possibly some place in Brooklyn.

I am trying to find the burial place of Dirck Storm and Maria Montfort. I've tried the Old Dutch Burial Ground in Sleepy Hollow but they are not buried there. I am wondering if they possibly went to live with one of their children as they got older.

Also, looking for Hendrick Storm and Niesje DeGroot's burial place.

Any information would be appreciated.

Dirck Storm, born 1630, died 1715 and married to Maria Montfort is buried in Old Dutch Burying Ground in Tarrytown, NY. This cemetery is adjacent to but separate from the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. I have a picture of his grave marker. Dirck is my 10th gr-grandfather.

I went on Findagrave.com and put in Dirck Storm's name and New York State and his monument comes up in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, but it does say that he is actually buried in the Old Dutch Burying Ground, adjacent to but separate from the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. His son Gregoris Storm's name is also on the monument. Hope this helps.
