Re: Larry Stotler (Cincinatti, Oh)

My husbands family is from Hillsboro, Ohio, but we live in Franklin, Ohio about 35 miles from Cincinnati! I know if you look on www.411.com you'll find a lot of Stotler's in the Cincinnati area. Don't know if my husbands family is related to yours. His Grandfathers name was Clyde Stotler and died in Kansas but lived in Maineville, Ohio. My husband met another Stotler in Piqua, Ohio at a Steel Mill where he was delivering a load and the guy looked @ his signature and asked him what his last name was and my husband said Stotler and said Why do you think you know me and the guy said no that's my last name. His name was Dallas Stotler and his grandfather was from Hillsboro, Ohio also ~ so we're pretty sure they're related. Hope this can help!!

Kate Stotler katestotler@yahoo.com

New DNA results for two Stotler families

I have posted some new DNA results on my website:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~sandrajone...

For Group 7 of Washington County MD we have a confirming match.

For Group 11 of Allegany County MD a STADLER male matched 12/12 to on of the participants. I have get hopes that we might learn more.

When I started this project I thought we would find connections between Groups 6, 7, 9 and 11 since they lived so close to each other. But each Group is distinct.
Hi Suzy,
Glad you are still involved. I hoped the DNA project would help but it hasn't. There should be baptism records for Casper and siblings in Europe but I haven't located any. My family tradition has them as French Huguenots but they were certainly German speakers. I have combed Alsace records but no luck.

Sandra,

I agree with you on both points about the father of Casper and Jacob Stotler/ Statler.
In my 20+ years of research I have not located a name of the father of these two men.
My hunch is that Emanuel is the name of the father, as Casper, Jacob and Rudolph all give that name to a son but, in my book, that is not proof enough.

Sorry I haven't check this for so long. Thanks so much for the reply, I hadn't found them on the census and probably due to the name spelling. I have looked for a death certificate and haven't found it. At least this census gives me some more names to research and I will be doing that. Thank you again and I will post information when I find it for others who are researching the same family.

Bill, Would you mind e-mailing me a copy of the will. I have a Peter Stotler, a brother to Elisha Stotler (my great great great grandfather, children of John and Elizabeth Stotler of Morgan County, WV. Elisha married Christiana (don't know maiden name. I can't find marriage records in WV. They were both born in early 1820's so probably married in the late 1840's or early 1850's. If you ever come across the record please let me know.
Thanks for your help.
Janet

The Rudolph that you are referring to who came over from Germany- there are no records to prove this yet, and yes he was the brother of Casper, I have a large database on both of those lines, The Stotler lines scatter all over the place, they end up in Ohio also. They are all related, I personally think they are connected to Emmanuel Stotler, because that name is very predominent in both lines, both Rudolpg and Casper have children and grandchildren with that name. I will gladly share in you or anyone else is interested in these lines.

There is a possibility that your John Stotler could be connected, nothing is impossible.
I believe found your William Stotler in the 1900-1920 census records.
1900 in Short Bend Township, Dent County, MO
William Stottler born Sept 1859 age 40 married 12 years occupation laborer at an Iron Works
wife Emma born June 1869 age 31
son John Q.(?)M. age 11
Willliam age 9
daughter Cora M 6
son Emerald E (?) 4
daughter Vergie G. 1
In 1910 and 1920 they were in St. Francios County
1910 again listed as Stottler
Emma listed as Sarah E.
Cora as Minnie C.
Emerald E. as Earl E.
Vergie as Gracie V.
additional children
Myrtle May age 8
Aaron age 5
Emma M age 2
In 1920 William is listed with some of the children but (Sarah) Emma has probably died.

I can't find William in the 1880 census unless he is the 19 year old in the home of John Stotler age 28 in Phelps County. I suggest you try to get a copy of William's death certificate as he probably died in St. Francois County and the certificate should list his parents.
