Sounds like we have a story that is close but my John is in the 1860 and beyond census's in Martin County IN until he moved to French Lick Orange Co. IN where he and Mary Jane died and were buried. I don't see how they could be the same person. Our John has on the census' that his parents were born in Indiana (probably not true). He could not read or write and if his parents died when he was young, he probably didn't know for sure where his parents were from.
