I'm actually offering information to anyone who may be a descendant or collateral relative. James was said to have come to Illinois with a "brother" John but I have not found the John. They left Ireland after the failed Rebellion of 1798 and went first to Steelville Ohio and then Crawford Co. PA before settling in Randolph Co., Illinois prior to 1820.. I believe they are related to the David Strahan b. 1755 NC d. 1836 Illinois, the Matthew Strahan who settled in Oklahoma, and the Samuel H. Strahan who migrated earlier into Pennsylvania and family then went to Kentucky and Randolph Co., Indiana, etc.
