Lela Reynolds Strain was the daughter of Leona G Perry and John W Reynolds. In 1880 Census, Lela is listed with her mother in her grandfather's house (Burrell Perry Sr, Burrell is buried in Friendship Cemetery, 9 Jan 1805 - 15 May 1890, b. Davidson Co TN on stone). I can't find Leona after this time.
John W Reynolds was the son of Thomas Reynolds (son of Aaron Reynolds and Nancy Crowley) and Diadama Jackson (daughter of Beckley Jackson and Martha Brown). John is listed in 1876 & 1877 City Directory for Grayson Co TX as "John W Reynolds, dentist, office s s square bet Travis and Crockett, res near W city limits of Houston". Friendship Cemetery is near this description of his residence.
John Reynolds is buried in Friendship Cemetery (26 May 1844 - 25 Apr 1877). Family legend is that John was robbed of his money and murdered. I can't find any newspapers for Apr 1877 in the Texas Archives or Sherman and Denison. John's father, Thomas, was buried in Walker Cemetery in Grayson Co. As yet we are not able to locate this cemetery. John was my great great grandfather's brother.
Does anyone know what happened to the child of Lela and J D Strain? The child would have been born in 1892 or 1893. There is a Martha Strain in 1900 Census Grayson Co in the Poorhouse, no age listed.
