Frank Stransky (another one!)

On my Stransky side I traced back to Frank Stransky. On his son's death certificate it says father's place of birth Bohemia but when I've searched for the Sr. Frank Stransky I also found a census where he states his parents birth is Austria. I don't know what is accurate, nor do I have much of the Sr. Frank's information. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Frank Stransky m.
Could you check your ship records
I am looking for a Frank Stransky he was born in Austria in 1859 but I cannot find any ship records. In fact I can not find anything before 1886 when he gets married in IA. You mentioned having ship records for several people who came over between 1879-1882 or so. Can you give me this info. I have seen several reports on an Ann and wondered if she could be a sister. The only thing I am going by is the birth year is close to Franks. The only thing I know about his relatives is his father was F. I have several spellings on the last name but I do not know what was the the way he spelled it. But the 1886 marriage has Stronska, Stranka for a spelling. Thank you

What is the "Leo BACA's 9 volumes" and where do I find them.
He did not have Soc sec card since his age and when they started and then the draft was again he was to old, same as Ellis he came to early nothings helps me his timing is off. The oldest file I have the name is Stronska and on the same form it is Stranka since he used Stronsky for years I would think one of these is more correct than Stransky.

I can not find anything that confirms birth place but death cert and it has name wrong too. I think son helped with info and was not sure anyway and man who did not know Frank or how to spell it. Census state Austria and Bohemia is the only proof I have.

SKA is a female ending
SKY is a male ending in Czech Republic and Slovak Republic.
Frank would have come thru a port at Frantisek (Czech) or Franz (German). You might want to check into Leo BACA's 9 volumes of Bohemians to America, Germans to America. You need to confirm his place of birth. By any chance he applied for social security numbers? I suppose no draft registration form?
Americans have trouble with Slavic surnames so who knows how STRANSKY could have been written and indexed by an office worker.

Hi, Michael,

I haven't found a Joseph & Emma M. in the info I have but I do have
Joseph Stransky born Sept. 4, 1938 in Chrudim Czechoslovakia & died
April 5, 1933 near Belleville, KS. He was married to Josephine Chlopeck in 1863. They had 8 children. I have their names. spouses & offspring.
I am finishing up a book on the Saip's (Cejp) & will be putting this info
on my computer. As soon as I finish the Stransky's I will forward it to you. It is hand written & rather difficult to decifer so be patient. There may be a connection. My grandmother was Anna Stransky, her mother
was Anna Stransky. I have their passport. It is very confusing when the
names are the same & in some instances changed. You might check the records in the Belleville, Kansas courthouse & the Belleville Telescope in the library. My info came from a Charles Stransky & Mrs.
Mary Nemec, a cousin of my mother. As I said, I will forward this info
to you in the very near future.

Bonnie

My connection to the Natkins is through my great-uncle, Nathaniel Stern, who was married to Lois' aunt, Rose Natkin. All I know about Lois, aside from what I already told you is that she died on June 5, 1994 in Deerfield, IL. I only have her obit, not the death notice, so I don't know where she is buried. Also, in the death notices for both of her parents (1959 and 1971), there is no husband's first name listed. Possibly she was divorced or widowed by then. Sorry, this is all I have. Hope it is of some help.

Sheryl

Sheryl

Well this is interesting. Have you been able to get a death certificate on Lois Natkin Stransky? Do you know where she is buried? Out of the brothers I listed, I'm pretty sure that Charles and Irv did not have any kids. Since I posted that message I discovered that Charles died at the young age of 22 with TB. On his death certificate they didn't list a spouse for him or that he was married. Irv did marry but family stories say he didn't have any kids. Joseph was married but I can't make out her name. I'll have to check that out. In the 1930 census they list one boy who might have been born in 1921. Can't make out that name either.

Jerrie I don't have anything on at the moment. It appears that they did move into the Berwyn area.

If you can get a confirmation on who her husband was then we can figure this out, hopefully.

Colleen

The only thing I know for sure is that Janette Stransky was in Central Islip State hospital in 1920 till she died. Her daughter Rose never knew of her existence as she was raised by her maternal grandmother (Winkler) who told her that both of her parents were dead. Janette was from Manhattan and I assume she meet Frank Stransky in Manhattan. Besides the 1920 El Paso census, there are 2 other "Frank Stransky's" that are interesting. One on E 73rd St, and one on !st Ave.

I do not know much about my family but I know my grandfather was Joseph G. Stransky born around 1915 in NY, moved to Montana after the war. My father was Michael Stransky he told me my grandparents died when he was around 18-19 but he also told me his mom's name was Ella Heiden but when I seen his birth certificate after he pasted away it said it was June Mullica. If you know any information on my grandfather I would appreciate it.

So any person trying to get any proper information those other people are contacted an not my self. I found this out because a person wanted information about my great uncle and "OTHER CLAIMED OWNERS" of the tree did not know how to direct them to me, but took it upon themselves to copy & repost an OLD FAMILY TREE DATA FILE which is very very inncorrect!

Thank you, sorry for getting back to you so late.
I am a bit confused that Ancestry did not let me know you posted this? I checked my profile and everything is correct?
-----
I have a website, http://www.knology.net/~stransky/
I have hit a brick wall, all I know is what I have found on documents? or what infromation they gave to the census taker.

The people are the same on each census, but dates do not add up, when they came to the US and why people are missing, Birth dates changed, first or last names changes.

Well I figured if my ancestors where trying to hide something, they did a good job! Well anything could be possiable, My Max (known also as George later on) may have come over with family around the time of 1890. By around 1900, he married and had seven children. and out of the seven children, was my grandfather Joseph. Now among the three last children Edward Joseph, and the twins Joseph & Anthony, These three knew of the older children Frank, Theodore, Valentina, Unknown Child.
So as you can see, the older children knew more first hand information, while my younger children, only had second hand imformation and lost touch with the older family.

Actually she was still alive past 1930. It is a miss index of the Jennette Stransky in Islip saying she was 81 years old in 1930 and the other 21 in 1920.

Someone mis read the 3 as an 8. There is no other if so there would be two Jennette's that would have chances to be found back to the 1850's and that is not the case. both in Islip and the same "Hospitol".

I found a close match for a Girl Winkler but living in NJ in 1910, But had a brother. It makes me think if Jennette's truth was hidden from Rose, maybe, could it be that the family mislead that there really were other Siblings? Could it be that the never talked about truth of family was lost behind the hinding of Janette?

What do you feel about that?

There may be a good chance that they could be found consider that she was born in 1899-1900.
Give me a few hours to look some stuff

As for Frank, once I get her side sorted out and try and find a ROSE info may lead info to point out which Frank it was.

just remember that all the info I pulled up on that
Jospeh G Stransky which resulted for a
a. Military Enlistment
b. Military garvesite
c. and that possiable 99% mistake on the SNN records by a transcriber.
Those three records does link that Joseph G Stransky as one person. (a+b+c)

1. You will still need to connect the dots that that Jospeh is your Michaels Father by sending away for that perticular SNN record I sent you. Once you send away for it, you will clearly see if the SNN last digit in the year was a mistake.
and if I am correct finding that out, you will know the names of your great grandparents to continue futher research.
I hope I found your brick wall, and got you through it before giving up.
2. connect the record dots later by getting more records to justify the facts which can over rule mistakes in a transcribers error reading the documents and inputing wrong information in the databases during search lookups.

I do remeber other Joseph Stransky's in the records an many out west about those times. If I remeber right there should be about 3-4 other Josephs and the wife being Ella Heiden or June Mullica, dont give up. many time people have a proper given full name but tend to use one of the middle name as a nick name. If two last names are given always try to rule out if a previous marriage name may have come through. then later in years when asking who females were, a original maiden name may come up and throw researches for a loop. I will check in a moment what I can dig up.
Note: many times transcribers may write the name wrong or the data indexing person does not always interpret the handwriting correctly. like Stra.. for Stro.. or stru.. or even worse Stra.. for Sha.. or Ska.. when the image is very light missing the cross line on the t

Hi Bonnie,

It has been a few years, I spent the last week getting access to my old out dated accounts on the boards. I am back now to help and others if the need help.
The last year I was working on a project of web scripts to display gedcom gedxml from my family tree site. got tired of waiting for the standard to come around. So I am making my own standard to display and convert back and forth.
I found some lost Stransky family connections of mine. 8 children Frank (family found who had a picture they are Tertechny connection to his sister tina Helen) one baby stransky died as a child. Theodore is still unknown history. All the others I have information on.
But I would not put it past that the upper end of those who came over with relatives which did seperate to diffrent areas of the usa.
I have aslo uncovered a number of Stransky's (whole families) which many various alt spellings all changed to Stransky during 1900's through to 1930's. most of that happened during the 1910 to 1920's as in my families case Strensky to Stransky.
Just to say I am back on the boards.

ok your frank was born in 1896. I have a missing frank in my family. Being that you do not have your ethic background on his parents makes me wonder if your frank is the one in texas bootcamp heading for wwi.
I have had my eye on his record for quite awhile, about 8years now. Which brings to mind WWI if your Frank was in the war your Janette would be head of household. Also a problem could be if she stayed at a relatives house the transcriber could have miss label the surname. There is a number of brick walls people hit. But if they are on the census it just takes bit to think out of the box to find them on a search.

Is that you tree "Ancesstry" online trees?

Hi, just from a general search there is nothing. Could you answer any of these questions it could help me do a broad wild card filter.

did rose have any older or younger siblings within 5-10years of herself.

Do you know birth years of Frank & Janette
and ethnic like russian, polish, german etc...

Did they live in NY all that time that you know of.

Reasons are sometimes you dont go striaght forward on searches. Many times children may have been named Mary or Mary Rose as an example. but later ancestors just knew them as Grandma or Aunt Rose. I am trying to perform a home profile search to filter a hit. Sometimes they are not the Duaghter or even head of household. but Frank could be a son and rose a granddaughter.
