Father of Mrs. Harold (Regina) Gotts of Cambria, William Strassburg Jr. of the Town of Wilson, Mrs. Duane (Lucy) Honick of Barker, N.Y., and Mrs. Harold (Irene) Willert, Miss Loretta Strassburg and Miss Ida Strassburg all of Buffalo.  Also survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, three nieces and four nephews.  Funeral services Wednesday, June 3, at 2 p.m. at Hardison Funeral Home, South Lake Street, Ransomville.  The Rev. Carl Oldach will officate.  Interment in North Ridge Cemetery.       <description>Please contact me if you have further information regarding my ancestors -- most of the following information is from Woldegk, Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Germany Lutheran Church records:&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;1708 - Christian or Andreas Strassburg&lt;br&gt;b.1775 - Johann Strassburg of Hinrichshagen&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;b.1800 - CHRISTIAN Andreas Strassburg (m.1824 to Maria Sophia Dorothea Kroger / Kruger) (Christian of Hinrichshagen or Holzendorf, d.1873 in Woldegk)&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;b.1825 - Andreas FRIEDRICH Strassburg (m.1853-4 to Dorothea Friedrike Auguste Kruger of Strelitz) (Friedrich of Woldegk, d.1903 in Rumford, Maine, USA)&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;1825 Friedrich has two possible sisters (b.1823 - Johanna Maria Carolina Strasburg / Kruger; and b.1827 - Maria Sophia Carolina Strassburg) - other siblings unknown.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;b.1859 - FRIEDRICH Ernst August Strassburg in Woldegk(m.1886 in NYC, USA to Clara Bruckner of Plauen, Saxony, Germany) (Friedrich of Woldegk, d.1908 Rumford, Maine, USA)&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;1859 Friedrich has two siblings (b.1854 - CARL Friedrich Wilhelm Strassburg; and b.1856 - MARIA Anna Auguste Strassburg).  Both Carl and Mary immigrated to NYC, USA in the early 1880s.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;1859 Friedrich immigrated to NYC in 1886 with his parents.  He stayed permanently, but his parents went back and forth from US to Germany.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Frederick's sister, Mary, married Helmuth Dreyer of Germany in 1883 in NYC.  Their children were Charles Dreyer and Mary Dreyer.  Mary Strasburg Dreyer remarried William Schaal of New Britain, CT (or Meriden, CT), and had another child, Frank Schaal, before her death between 1890 - 1900.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Frederick's brother, Carl, married Auguste Bruckner/Brickner in 1885 in NYC, and by 1888 they were living in New Britian, CT.  They took care of his sister's children, the Dreyers, after his sister died.  Carl died there in 1902.</description>

They sailed on the "Wilhelmsburg" in 1858 - family then was Christiaan Friedrich STRASSBURG, his wife was Marie-Therese ms WEYER and 3 children then, August, Friedrich and Marie-Therese.  Passenger lists for the ship gave place of ORIGIN as WOLLIN, Pommerania.  Any help would be appreciated. He was born in upstate NY around 1906, married and divorced in NYC sept 1938 , in Nebraska around 1944 and moved to Atlantic City june 1944 leaving sept 1944 for possibly Florida and that is where the trail ends. Have very little informaion on him. Strassburg, died Saturday afternoon at her home, 61 Jackson avenue, after a lingering illness.  Mrs. Strassburg was born in the town of Wheatfield and lived at St. Johnsburg all her life until removing to North Tonawanda a week ago.&lt;br&gt;Besides her husband, Mrs. Strassburg is survived by five daughters, the Misses Regina, Loretta, Irene, Lucy and Ida Strassburg, one son, William G. Strassburg, Jr.; five sisters, Mrs. Frank Sasse, Buffalo, Mrs. Edward Doebler, North Ridge; Mrs. W. Heidenfeldt, Mrs. Albert Warblow, and Mrs. Henry Hardy of North Tonawanda and two brothers, William Pankow and Arthur Piper, North Tonawanda.  The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at the late residence and at 2:45 o’clock at the St. John’s church, St. Johnsburg, Rev. Walter Thiemecke officiating.  Burial will be in the St. John’s cemetery.&lt;br&gt;</description>

Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Herman Ellman, Mrs. Bert Moore, Mrs. Edward Schroeder, Mrs. Walter Sut- and Mrs. Norman Aschenbach, all of North Tonawanda and Ms. Fred Zastrow and Mrs. Paul Mueller, St. Johnsburg; three sons, Walter and Benjamin Strassburg, St. Johnsburg, and Otto A. Strassburg, Newfane; twelve grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Charles Stange, St. Johnsburg, and a brother, Henry Andres, Ransomville.  The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the St. John's church, St. Johnsburg.  Rev. Walter Thiemecke will conduct the services and interment will be in the St. John's cemetery.&lt;br&gt;</description>

      <description>11 August 1942  The Evening News of the Tonawandas&lt;br&gt;Strassburg Family Reunion Attracts 60 at Gathering&lt;br&gt;Thirteenth Annual Event Stage Sunday at Hauck?s Gardens; Edward Gath Chosen President, with Other Officers Reelected; Committees Named, Good Time Enjoyed&lt;br&gt;The 13th annual Strassburg reunion was held Sunday, Aug. 9, at Hauck?s gardens, North Tonawanda.  During the afternoon various games were played in which both young and old participated.&lt;br&gt;Later in the afternoon the business meeting was held.  President Edward Gath called the meeting to order.  Sixty members and friends were present.&lt;br&gt;Officers Elected&lt;br&gt;The following officers were reelected for the ensuing year: President, Edward Gath; vice-president, Arthur Ostwald; secretary-treasurer, Mrs. M. Starck.&lt;br&gt;The following committees were appointed: Refreshments, Edward Stenzel, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stenzel and George Strassburg; entertainment, August Strassburg, Jr., Albert Strassburg, Sanborn; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Strassburg, North Tonawanda.&lt;br&gt;During the past year two marriages, four births and four deaths were reported.&lt;br&gt;Gifts Presented&lt;br&gt;Gifts were presented to Mrs. August Strassburg and Ernest Scheibert for being the oldest members present, and Paul Ernest Gath, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Gath, who was the youngest present.&lt;br&gt;It was resolved to send a resume of the proceedings to Corp. Robert Ostwald and Corp. Martin Strassburg, now serving in the armed forces of our country.&lt;br&gt;After routine business the meeting was adjourned and a basket lunch was enjoyed.  In the evening games were played and prizes awarded.  &lt;br&gt;The next reunion will be held the second Sunday in August, 1943, the place to be decided upon by the committee.&lt;br&gt;</description>

      <description>16 August 1934  Evening News of the Tonawandas&lt;br&gt;Strassburg Family Held 5th Annual Reunion Last Sunday&lt;br&gt;The fifth annual reunion of the Strassburg family was held Sunday, August 12 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gath on the Ward road with 71 members present.&lt;br&gt;At the business meeting the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Edward Strassburg; vice president, Edward Gath; secretary and treasurer, Jesse Strassburg.  Committees were appointed with the following appointed on the various committees: Mrs. Edward Berndt, Mrs. Albert Strassburg, Mrs. Walter Stenzil, Miss Gladys Gardei, Clifford Toellner, Arthur Ostwald and Albert Strassburg.&lt;br&gt;Following the business meeting a baseball game was enjoyed.  The single men defeated the married men by a score of 14 to 6.  Bingo was enjoyed.  The penny contest was won by Mrs. Edward Gath; dressing contest by Mrs. Walter Thiemecke and Albert Strassburg.&lt;br&gt;Rev. Paul Fretthold and Rev. Walter Thiemecke spoke briefly.  A gift was presented to Aaron Moll as the oldest man present and Mrs. Ernest Scheibert as the oldest woman present and to Betty Jane Toellner and Donald Stenzil as the youngest members to attend the reunion.  A basket luncheon was served.  Members were present from Nashville, the Tonawandas, and St. Johnsburg.&lt;br&gt;</description>

      <description>20 December 1944  Evening News of the Tonawandas&lt;br&gt;NT Fighter Tells How He Was Hurt&lt;br&gt;A U.S. Army Station Hospital, England – Private First Class Harvey Strassburg of North Tonawanda, New York, radio operator of a Sherman tank who was wounded in the shoulder by grenade shrapnel near Granville, France, is now recovering at this United States Army station hospital in England.&lt;br&gt;“During the thick of the battle my tank was hit by enemy shell fire,” said Pfc. Strassburg, “and thinking it had caught on fire and was about ready to explode, I jumped out and started to run for cover.&lt;br&gt;“I was no further than a few yards from my tank when a German grenade exploded nearby.  Pieces of shrapnel hit my chest, but I kept on going until I reached a place of cover,” continued Pfc. Strassburg.&lt;br&gt;“A medic gave me first aid right on the field and then sent me to the rear.  Later I was evacuated to England by air,” he said.&lt;br&gt;Before entering the Army, Pfc. Strassburg worked for the Buffalo Bolt Company.  He is the brother of Mrs. Donald Townsend, formerly of North Tonawanda.&lt;br&gt;</description>
