My grandmother was named Elizabeth Ann Strawderman and she was from the lost river area. Unfortunately, she passed away 2 years ago and was buried in Winchester. Mt. Hebron...or something along those lines was the name of the cemetery. Her father's name was Philip J.

I have Jefferson (Jeff)Strawderman being married twice.

To Catharine Barb (3-25-1834 to 2-21-1864) on 9-6-1855 in Shenandoah County, VA. (5 children: Martha, Fannie, Simon, Mary "Eliza" (McAvoy), Sarah (Moyer)).

To Barbara Delawder (1-10-1844 to 1-20-1899) on 9-9-1866 in Shenandoah County, VA. (10 children: Isiah, Catharine (Funkhouser), Nimrod, Edmund L., Charles Eastman, Cora A., Dora B., Fannie, Delilah (Funkhouser), Ida Victoria (Souder)).

My wife is related through the John William McAvoy / Mary Elizabeth Strawderman (Bayard, Grant Co, WV) line.

Len, my mother's mother was Goldie Strawderman and I have been researching for a couple of years now and would any help you could give me on the Strawdermans. I recently found a query on rootsweb about John Anthony "Anton" Strawderman and it was quite useful. Don't know if you have it or not, but it was from rootsweb on hardy county queries. Ruby Helen Strawderman, was my auntie.....she was my dad's sister.......I have many pictures of Ray and Ruby. I am pretty new at this so I hope I am posting right..... Also, I am still trying to put everything together. There are alot of Strawderman's and I am having trouble connecting the dots....

The parents of Leonard N.W. STRAWDERMAN (29 Dec 1833 - 4 Aug 1905) are reported to have been Adam STRAWDERMAN (b. 1785 where?) and Elizabeth _____ (b. 1790 where?).

Our records suggest that Mary Ann SAGER and Leonard Neff Washington STRAWDERMAN were married 3 May 1855 in Hardy Co., WV.

My relationship: My Uncle Hubert Ray HAYNES was married to the granddaughter(Ruby Helen STRAWDERMAN) of the above-mentioned Leonard N.W. STRAWDERMAN.

Not sure of a connection , but in my wifes family history book on the DeLAUTER various spellings there is a Nimrod STRAWDERMAN , s/o Jefferson & Barbara DeLawder STRAWDERMAN.
Although the book dosen't tell the location , most of the STRAWDERMAN in it were from Hardy,CO. WV.

Well it has taken quite a long time, but I think I finally have the records straight:

Reuben Washington Nazelrod/Nesselrodt was indeed my grandfather's (William Grant Nazelrod/Nesselrodt) brother. He passed away before my father and his siblings were born and they were always calling Eliza "Aunt Liza" thinking she was an unmarried aunt since she had the same last name and no husband. The children were very young when their aunt died. In addition to their confusion was the fact that their father (my grandfather) was previously married to Rebecca Sager Smith - who, come to find out - was the sister to Eliza. And they said there was always referencing about "Aunt Rebecca". Now everything makes sense.

I am a cousin to Garrett. He was the son of Reubin and Elizabeth Nesselrodt, and the brother of Lee, Dorie, Nannie, Stella, Garnet, Mabel, Bertie, Emory, Pearl, Robbie, and Nora. Shirley, I'm totally confused. You previously stated that Eliza who married Reuben Nazelrod was a Sager and her parents were Emanuel and Christine. Well, my father (Willard Nazelrod)and his sister (Laura) say that their aunt Eliza was a Nazelrod (Nesselrodt), the daughter of Emanuel Nazelrod (Nesselrodt) and his wife Christine Sine. I have Isaac Nazelrod (Nesselrodt) and Hannah Unknown as the parents for Reuben. HELP!

Shirley, I, too, remember the side car of great-uncle Garrett's motor cycle. I am Stella Nazelrod's granddaughter. Uncle Garrett lived with us in Texas for awhile in the 1950's, as did his son Gene. I have tried to reach Gene's daughter Grace before, but have been unsuccessful. Would love to connect with her!

Garrett married Nettie Grace STRAWDERMAN (1898-1932), the daughter of Isaiah and Martha (SNYDER) STRAWDERMAN.

Everyone may be straight now, but just in case, here are the facts:

Eliza Ellen SAGER was the daughter of Amos SAGER and Mary Catherine "Kitty" HEISHMAN. Per copy of marriage license for the 26 Feb 1885 marriage to Reuben Washington NAZELROD, she was born in Hardy County, West Virginia. Birth date 7 April 1863.

Eliza had a child prior to her marriage to Reuben. My grandmother Stella (Nazelrod) Hollen Porter Slaubaugh referred to this half sister as "Dorie Belle", but image of registry of births for West Virginia, which were viewed Jan 2006 clearly shows name as "Dora Alice SAGER". Father Angus Dispanet, occupation farmer, residence Hardy County. Mother Eliza E Sager. Information provided by grandfather Amos Sager.

I am Stella NAZELROD's granddaughter. I have tintypes of Eliza at age 8 and her sister Anna Rebecca (SAGER) SMITH NAZELROD (1858-1923), which I will be delighted to share.

Do you have record of Henry Jackson Strawderman, b ca 1835, and his wife Elizabeth? I'm searching for her maiden name, and ties to the Chrisman family. Four children were listed for them in 1860, but from 1870 census it appears that Henry and all the children had died. Do you have any info on this family unit?

my greatgrandmother, amanda mae teets, was the youngest of 11 siblings born to laban wilson teets and eula virginia wilson. mary hannah strawderman was one of her eldest siblings. she was likely born at lost city or vicinity as were most of siblings. however, she lived in winchester, va. and is buried with several children in mt. hebron cemetery in winchester. sorry, do not have notes to give children's names with me.

Eliza maiden name was Sager and her mother's name was Christine and her father was Emmanuel. Eliza husband is Reuben Nazelrod and the four of them are buried in the Strawderman plot in Mathias, WVA. It is on the road back to the state park. I use to spend part of my summers with your grandmother Maxine.

I had a great uncle Garrett who was born in WVa, fought in WWI, lived in Maryland with his sister in the fiftes. He use to take me for rides in the sidecar of his motorcycle. He later moved to AZ, where he died. I met two of his sons, Don who lived in NJ and Gene who lived in Yucca Valley Ca. I have more info in my records on him.

My Grandfather Brown Joseph Strawderman while he was married had a affair on his wife with a lady named Lillian I dont know her last name but they had a baby girl together.
I dont know her name as well. I know this is not alot of info but If anyone can help me that would be great.
