Strege

I have Joahin Strege and Wife Loiese Rasch as never have comming to America. Our family information says they were born and died in Germany. Joahin born 6-21-1804 and died 1-24-1885, Loiese born 12-24-1811 and died 5-21-1885. Of course sometimes family history can be wrong, so far though this has been pretty reliable information from the cross referencing I have done. Wilhelm Frederick Strege and his wife Johannah Frederitz are buiried in Augusta Cemetary in Marietta, which is in Lac Qui Parle County. Wilhelm Frederick Strege's wife Johannah is also listed as being married to a John B, Leo 9-28-1917 after Wilhelm's death. My husband is related to Minnie Strege, one of Wilhelm and Johannah's 15 children.

Yes, it was just a typo, the name is Strege. The information I have says she was born in Minneapolis 7-24-1874 and is Buried in Brainerd, MN (died 12-17-45). I found out from some information from another source on this thread (Maureen) that she had been married twice. I have her first husband listed as Charles Holmberg, they married 2-29-1893. Then another marriage to James Smith. She had children from both of these marriages, I believe 2 boys from her first, Maureen would know who from the second marriage.

Ida Stege

Thanks for the post. I have an Ida Stege listed as being born 7-24-1874, I have no death date, and the birth date could be wrong as this is old hand written information. Her parents are listed as Wilhelm Fredereck and Johannah (Frederitz). She is listed with 15 brothers and sisters. Richard, Ida, Adolph,
Wilhelm, Martha, Minnie, Minnie's twin who died at birth, Ernest, Louise, Emma, William, Louis, Clara, Otilia, Roseline.

It also lists her as being married to a Charles Holmberg in 2-29-1893. Father's birth and death dates are written: Wilhelm-Born 9-15-1841, Death 4-23-1910. Mother Johanna, Born 9-7-1855, Death 8-26-1926. The information also listed that she remarried after Wilhelm's death to a John B. Leo on 5-28-1917. Hope some of this helps you, My husband and I were wondering if we would be able to get a copy of Ida's death certificate? If we can, please let us know and I can send you our information on where to send, we would pay for the copy. thanks

Ida was not listed in the census, I believe she may have been married at this time. Ida was born in 1879 and died in 1931. At the time of her death she was married to James Smith, I believe she was married before. If anyone has any information on this I'd appreciate hearing from you.

On second glance it appeares there was only 15 children but do not see an Anna listed. There is an Annie Eliza Vaupel who married the oldest son Richard. He was apparently born in 1872 and died in 1945. I also have Wilhelm and Johannah Strege buried in Marietta, MN. There is other information such as the names and who the children married let me know if any of this is helpful.

Hi,
I'm looking for my ancestors. Unfortunately I just can track it back to Anna Strege (born on the 22nd of September 1872 in Wilkenfelde). She was married to a Stahlberg and later to a Karl Mueller. She had two sons: Friedrich Strege and Willi Strege. Both used to live by the Baltic Sea or around Berlin in Germany.

Anna Strege used to live in Wilkenfelde and Korkenhagen. These villages are situated near Stettin in Pommern (Pommerania).

Do you have any information for me ?

Thanks
Hendrik

James,
My name is Bill Rogers from Texas and found some interesting facts while researching my wife's family tree in North Dakota. I am not a relative but found the story so interesting, thought the Strege family would be interested. In " A History of Richland County" published 1977 by Taylor Publishing is a remarkable story of the Strege Family coming from Hammanstahal Chris, Pommerania to Mayville, Wisconsin and then on to North Dakota(but first made an unscheduled stop in Brazil). It starts with a William Strege and Friedrica Macheel getting married and their children emigrating to the USA and meeting Friedrica's brother in Wisc. Anyway Their is quite a bit of info in article and references to the old country and other relatives. If you cant find the book at the library, would be happy to copy it and send it to you snail mail. Good Luck Bill Rogers
Wilhelm's parents were Joahin Strege and Loiese Rasch of Prussia. They died in Lac Qui Parle Co. in 1885. I'm trying to find out when Wilhelm, Johannah and his parents came to America, what ship and what port of entry. Are we related? I wrote to the Lac Qui Parle Co. clerk, but haven't received any info.
Strege family

This is my husband's relation Joahin and Loiese were my husband's G-G-G Grandparents. We have information listing Joahin born 6-21-1804 and Loiese born 1-24-1811, death dates are also listed. We have them as born in Germany. I do not know if this is accurate or not. We have 7 children listed with Wilhelm being born 9-15-1841, he married Johannah Frederita in 1871. These two are listed to have 16 children total, (Johannah had also been married to a John B. Leo). Of these children, my husband's Great-Grandma is Minnie Strege, she had been a twin, but her twin brother died at birth. The story goes she became "in the family way" and was not married, Andrew H.Young was working on the farm and married her. It is said that the baby was not his. Who knows for sure? Anyway that baby was Clarence Lloyd, born 11-6-1905, this was my husband's grandfather. I do have family pictures of Andrew and Minnie if anyone would be interested and if anyone would be interested. Please e-mail me directly if anyone has anymore information or pictures on any of this.
