I am brand new to this board, but certainly
not to Strine research--I've been at it for
35 years now. Years ago there were only 3 of
us in contact, a few more have surfaced thru
the years--some of whom I see on the message
list--but I am amazed at all of the new
names! How exciting this aspect of the 'net'
is.
I haven't been able to consistently access
the messages, so it's been hit-and-miss, but
I know have information for several of you.
Byron, I was in touch w/you before you left
for Germany and I'm glad to see you're work-
ing on the family there.
I have much data from a professional re- searcher in Germany hired by a Strine descen-
dant in New York and she does exceptional
work. She does have the family pretty much
centered in the area south of Frankfort about
50 miles--Hebstahl, Beerfelden,Erbach, etc.,
but my husband's own line has not been proven
to the immigrant. His 3rd gr-grandfather was
Peter who md. Catherine Numan in York Co. in
1803; many of us feel he was the son of
George who died in 1796 and had a son Peter
born ca 1778. But as many of you have no doubt discovered almost every one of the
early Strine families had a Peter in the fam.
Our Peter moved to Franklin Co. before 1810
and died there in 1824. I have very complete
records on that family and have gathered as
much as I could on any Strine I have come
across anywhere. I've been to York several times, and do research every chance I get in in Salt Lake City which is 5 hrs. drive from where we live in Idaho. I'm not Mormon, but
I know several branches of the family are now.
I will be going through the messages as time
permits and will hope to establish contact
with as many of you as express your interest to me. I'm very anxious to start swapping information with any/all of you.
