Lucy Stringfellow obituary

From "The Salt Lake Herald", Salt Lake City, Utah
dated March 20, 1881:

DIED
Stringfellow - At Draperville,
March 19th, 1881, of old age, Lucy
Stringfellow, wife of Robert Pixton and
mother of Samuel and George Stringfel-
low, of this city; in her eighty-first year
of her age.
Deceased was baptized at Sutton-
in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England,
and emigrated to Utah in 1864. She has
been a faithful member of the church for
about thirty years, and died firm in the
gospel. She leaves eight children, six
sons and two daughters.
Funeral at the Third Ward Meeting
House on Monday at 11 o'clock. Friends
invited.

Sorry it took so long to reply. I found out that William and Liccie were married Feb. 12, 1899 in Harrison county, Iowa. William's parents were George and Sadie Stringfellow. That's where my knowlege of William Stringfellow ends. Let me know if you find anything more, and I'll do the same.

Searching for the maiden name of Sara Jane (____) Jones. She married Alfred Felix Huffman, Sr. as the wideow of Thomas Calhoun Jones. Sarah and Thomas are said to be cousins. Alfred and Sarah named their 7th child Thorton Stringfellow Huffman. Was this to name him after the Baptist pastor or after her family?

They last lived in dayton ohio. Now deceased.

Do you have any more information about "Martin"? Is that his 1st or 2nd name. My family is from "Hiram T. Stringfellow" and of course back to William b. 1729 King Geo., Virginia who was married to Mary Ann (Martin) Stringfellow. While scanning my information I see a few Martin Stringfellows but haven't pinpointed one to being born in Tennessee. Please let me really read through what I have and I will share with you. Susie

I'm not sure if you are still checking this. William is my Great Great Grandfather. My Great Grandmother was Winnifred Gladys Stringfellow (Dray).

Winnifred G married Vago (Vego) A Larson April 14th, 1918 in Foley, Benton County, MN. They had 5 children: Delores Francis, (1920-1990), Duane Marwood (my grandfather) (1921-1986), Beverly Larson, (1922-1998), Ward J Larson, (1924-1993), Vego Gordon Larson, (1926-1974).

I have the same infomation you do as far as William, my father isn't sure but he thinks William passed away. My father also told me that he remembered his grandmother (Winnifrid) telling him that she was of English descent and Stringfellow fits the bill.

I know Liccie married Andrew Dray Oct. 5, 1904, in Harrison County, Iowa. So that gives us a little less then a 4 year window. My guess if he passed away is that it would have to be in Nebraska or Iowa.

Stringfellow from parents Robert B. Stringfellow and Nancy E. Stringfellow (1865) Have a few photos and have found grave sites of family in Gower, Sullivan and Stringfellow cemeteries in Nashville, TN. area. Would love to share info. Susie

His father was William Robert Stringfellow 1823. Mother was Mary Ann Richey. I have all of his children, sisters, etc.

No, it is not a book. It is a collection of papers contained within 5 folders. It was contributed to the Winthrop University Library, Rock Hill, S.C., in 1984 by William K. Stringfellow's widow. You may obtain copies of the documents by contacting the Louise Pettus Archives & Special Collection at the University.

Are you related to Benjamin Franklin Stringfellow, the Confederate Spy to General Lee and Pres. Davis. My husband is a great, great, great great nephew to him? My husband comes through his brother Martin Slaughter Stringfellow who also fought in the Civil War. In my Stringfellow research I have seen several john Stringfellow. How are you related to my husband??

You didn't indicate how much information you have concerning your Thomas Stringfellow's ancestors, but I'll give you a brief synopsis of what my research indicates.
Thomas was the son of Peter, son of Mastin (with a "s"), son of Robert. Robert was a son of William Stringfellow & Rebecca (Martin?). William was born ca. 1729, Virginia, died 1812, Barnwell District, S.C.

Perkins O'Neal, and Foster Rush Stringfellow had another brother named Robert Ossie Stringfellow, born Oct. 14, 1899, he died Jan. 14, 1972 in Jackson, Tenn. He married Willie Mae Britton. And they had a son named Allen Alton Stringfellow, he is my Uncle by marriage, Allen married my aunt Gwen Charles. Would love to contact anyone working on this Stringfellow line. Robert Ossie was the son of Thomas & Martha Adaline "Hill" Stringfellow. Thomas was born Feb. 17, 1857, the son of Peter & Martha Stringfellow, who lived in Pontotoc, Union, and Tippah Co., Mississippi.

Yes, Martha had William in 1852 (see the 1860 census - she was living in the home of E.D. Nichols as a domestic); however the census also says she has another son named James R. Rutherford (two years younger than William...this is news to me). She then married John Stringfellow in 1860 and had eight children that I am aware of:

Actually my Mastin was born in 1803 in South Carolina and died in 1877 in Mississippi, but (at least) one of his sons, my gr-gr-grandfather James C. Stringfellow, was in Johnson Co., Texas by the 1880 census. They eventually moved up to Oklahoma, where James C. is buried in Hammon, Roger Mills County. He had served in the Civil War. Which of Robert and Margaret's children are you descended from?

Hi

The only Malin Stringfellow I have ever came across was in the 1830 Federal Census
He had 2 male children under 5 years of age
1 female child under 5 years of age
1 female child between 15-20 years of age
it list 1 male between 25-30 years of age
1 female between 25-30 years of age
so if you figure the 25-30 male and female was Malin and his wife Margert, that would work.
also have a M Stringfellow that died at age 57 that list his age at 57 so that would put Malin as being born around 1803. he died in Philadelphia Ward 24 Precinct 3 Philadelphia, Penn, with the word FRIEND that would tend to show that they were Quakers which also holds true for the Stringfellow`s who were in Penn. at that time. That`s all I have.

Teresa, My name is Cindy Yarborough. Maiden name Stringfellow.
My grandpa was Benjamin Franklin Stringfellow and my great grandpa was Frank Mastin Stringfellow. My grandpa's sisters were Linnie, Lucy and Fannie. His brother's were Dave, Wesley and Marcus. My Daddy's name is Billy Franklin Stringfellow. When I was in about the first or second grade. I had a terrible experience at school. Everyone was telling me how sorry they were about my dad. They wanted to know why I was at school. Then my neighbor who was older told me I needed to go home that my daddy had wrecked his truck and been killed! I was hysterical and my mom came and got me. They already knew that "your Dad" Billy had been killed in an accident. My dad said that they were cousins. I'm sure it wasn't near as traumatic for me as for you.

I have found a death cert. for Malin Stringfellow. It lists his cemetary as "Wharton St. Church Vault" in Philly. Does this mean anything to anyone? His wife, Margaret, was a "friend" and is/was buried in Machpelah Cemetary-- moved to Mt. Moriah. I am searching for an exact birth date for Malin and who his parents might have been. Any Philly people out there who can make sense of this?
