Anna Elizabeth Stroope, b. September 27, 1850, Adams Fork, Ohio County, Kentucky - don't have the date of death

She married G. W. Whittamore, December 31, 1871, Erath County, Texas, don't have any birth or death dates for him

Her parents were James Greenly Stroope, b. June 22, 1815, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, died April 9, 1864, Arkansas

Her mother Phebe Fida Adaline Guice, b. June 10, 1829, d. December 15, 1871, Erath Couonty, Texas

Got the Stroope line back to our immigrant ancestor - my sister and I researched for years - and wrote three books on Stroope Family History..

Her father was James Greenly Stroope and her mother was Phebe Fida Adaline Guice

DNA shows Matthias STROOP of NC related to Joh. Pieter STRAUB of PA

Some unexpected DNA test results have just returned. They show a very close relationship between Matthias STROOP, the 1687 emigrant from Westphalia who settled first in Maryland and ultimately in North Carolina, and Johann Pieter STRAUB I, the purported 1733 immigrant to Philadelphia, whose descendants are found among the "Pennsylvania Deutsch," especially in Snyder Co., PA. Based on my own research, these two men appear to be the two most prolific STRAUB/STROUP progenitors in the United States, so these results affect many living STROUPs.

This DNA match raises many questions, some of which are discussed on the project's web page:

This individual was also a mis-match with another purported descendant of Matthias STROOP, who is now believed to have an NPE (non-paternity event -- an adoption or hidden paternity) in his lineage. Please see:

At this juncture, it would greatly help if more descendants of Matthias STROOP would be tested. If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them if I can.

we've done extensive research on our Stroope line (which is yours also)...be glad to answer any questions you might have. Exception being Elizabeth's maiden name (we have researched that for many,. many years)...best guess is Hopson.??? Kathy Stroope Veasey

I put this down for three years and just found all of my research again. That's so exciting. My grandfather and I have not been able to find Elizabeth's maiden name either. Stroope was my great-great-grandmother's maiden name. Any information you have about Jacob or Elizabeth would be greatly appreciated.

A secondary source has asserted that William's wife was a MILLER. I have no idea what the evidence supporting this assertion is, but it may be as flimsy as the middle name of son Ephraim Miller STROOPE. Obviously, the middle names of the other children weaken the claim, if that's all it was based on.

This William H Stroope was born in what was then Kentucky County, Virginia,1785. I am trying to find his wife's name. His parents were Jacob Stroope,born 1742, and Anna Marie Troutman. Grandparents-William Strupp born 1700in Germany and Mary Elizabeth, no last name, also Germany. First marriage of my great grandfather was to Julia Measeles.
On the 1880 Collin County, TX census they are married and have two children - a girl - listed at E. J. born 1872 and a boy - listed at W. E. born 1874. A few years later Albert has divorced Julia and remarried (to my great-grandmother). What became of the children of the first marriage. I've searched high and low..............HELP. STROOPE is often written, Stroopes, Stroop, Stroops, Stroup, Stroupe, etc.

My grandfather has started a family tree and we have both been working on our family's geneolgy. He has traced part of our family back to a Jacob P. Stroope born in Virginia in 1774. He married an Elizabeth from KY. Any information pertaining to these individual especially a maiden name for Elizabeth would be greatly appreciated.
