Teresa, I have even submitted to the DNA Project trying to find a direction in which to search. I matched (67/67) with known descendants of James & Mary Lafferty Stewart of old Augusta Co., VA. Since then a couple of descendants of James Monroe Stuart (moved to OK then TX) tested and also match this family although not perfectly. And a descendant of William M. Stuart (Neshoba Co., MS) also was a close match. So we are definately closely related to that Stewart family. Now if we can just find the "paper trail"!

Thank you for posting all of this...I fit into this line, too, through William & Hannah's daughter, Josephine Stuart (1853 - 1911), married John K. Talley.

Does anyone have any info on William Davis Stuart's parentage? I've been stymied by that for a number of months now and would appreciate any help in that direction.
Hoi Daan,
Ken je me nog ? Eugenie Braamhaar. Mail me dan.
Vast bedankt! Groetjes Eugenie

Small World!

My GGF was Dr. Edward Stratton Stuard. (1843-1924). He married Mary Jane Easton in Covington, KY in 1874 , and they had Harry Easton Stuard (1875-1957) (my GF), Ann Lavinia Stuard (1877 -??) and Edward Thornton Stuard (1879-1952).
Somewhere there was a move to Colorado, as Edward wound up in Salida, and my GF was in business in Denver, before moving to Berkeley, CA in 1917 with Colorado Fuel and Iron.

Edward Thornton Stuard married Nesta King (c 1911) and had King Stuard (1913 - c 1963) (whom I knew as a child) and Wayne Stuard (c 1928 - ??) . Wayne (per your info) married Dorothy McKenna and had Lucinda and Wayne, etc.etc.

So we are (at least in a small way) blood relatives through Dr. Edward Stratton Stuard.

I have copies of a number of Civil War records for old Doc Stuard (living near Wash DC made a trip to the National Archives easy), and it's an interesting story. Let me know if you'd like the rundown.

As an added note, I grew up in Berkeley and Castro Valley, and attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, graduating in 1969. I came east with the military (Viet Nam era) and met my wife at Ft. Monmouth NJ in 1972.

If you were in AG in the mid 60's, I should have waved to you as I drove through!

"Cousin" Doug
dstuard@comcast.net

Doug,
I think I can shed some light on Dorothy. She is one of five daughters born to Michael James McKenna and Gladys Florence ( Milne) McKenna. Michael McKenna was born in Lansford, PA in 1888 and died in 1959 and Gladys was born in Empire, CO in 1900 and died in 1998. They married in 1922. Michael McKenna earned his DDS at the University of MI. Gladys was a housewife.
Both served in WW I, he was a US Army PFC, 8th Med Ammo train, 8th Div USA and Gladys was a US Army Horseshoer. They are both buried at FT. Logan National Cemetery in Denver , CO in plots LO239 and LO238.
You may wonder how I have all this data...history is that I was born to Dorothy's older sister in Kansas City, MO and placed in St. Anthony's Home For Infants at birth. Some 18 months ago I hired a well known PI for the purpose of a search... I am not a dissatisfied adoptee by any means but medical matters prompted my search. That said, It would appear that Lucinda and Scott Wayne are my biological cousins as Dorothy is my biological Aunt assuming that we are talking about the same clan.
I have not contacted any of the biological relatives except my biological mother who answered health questionsand said " {She} is an old lady now and is happy with her life the way it is" so I will not intrude upon her life. Lucky for me they seem to be a healthy clan, what more can I ask for but information rather behind a screen, so to speak. Please let me know if I can help in any other way with information. Keep in touch.
Marie Oseguera
Arroyo Grande, CA

Wayne would be the son of "Uncle Ned". In my records I have that Wayne had children Lucinda (b. 1960) and Scott Wayne (b. 1963, Bloomfield CO) . These would be "Racinda" and "Wayne S". The ages are correct. Dorothy is new, as I had no info on the senior Wayne's spouse.

Thank you for your reply.

I am looking for any information or descendants of Woodford "Woodie" STUARD who lived most of his life in Waurika, Oklahoma.

Woodie was born in Kentucky on December 02, 1872. His parents were Thomas Stuard and Polly Ann Scott.

Woodie married India STEWART around 1900. India was the sister of my Great-great-grandfather, Joseph Stewart. India died in 1904 and is buried in Waurika Cemetery. Woodie and India had two children, Thelma, b. abt 1902 - who graduated from Waurika High School in 1920, and Louis or Lewis W. Stuard, b. abt 1903 or 1904.

Woodie remarried before the 1910 census. His second wife's name was June. He is widowed by the 1920 census.

Woodie died November 4, 1948 and is buried in Waurika Cemetery. I do not have his obituary.

I cannot find Woodie, Thelma, or Louis in the 1930 census or anything on Thelma or Louis after 1920.

If anyone has any information, please reply to this post. Thank you in advance for all your help.

Hello, Doug,
How is your research on the Stuard family going? Last we spoke, I had some information for you regarding the wife of Wayne Stratton Stuard. I know have a photo of the wedding. It seems he and Dorothy and her sister shared a double wedding ceremony. I don't know the date but it may well have been in the mid 1950s.

I have located a cousin and she sent me the photos. They are not terribly clear as they are xerox copies of the originals which were not terribly clear to start with. Let me know if you would like a copy and how to get it to you if you are interested.

Finding my cousin is a tale in and of itself and too long to go into here but the cousin is not a Stuard but is a cousin also.
Cheers,
Marie

I saw your message regarding a Wayne Stuard in which you wonder if there is such a person in Colorado. In my wandering searching out the same last name, I came upon a Wayne Stuard age 72 living is Salida, CO. I located this information using Rootsweb..I hesitate to post the address and phone no on a public forum.
What I do feel safe in sharing is that at the address I located I find the following names and ages. Maybe something here is a connection for your search:
Dorothy M Stuard age 74; Racinda K Stuard age 43; Wayne S Stuard age 72; Racinda K Stuard age 74. It appears as though these people live at the same address and phone no in Salida, CO. Beyond that I don't know how they may be related to one another.
The oldest Stuards are in Red River Baptist Church Cememtery in Adams. Uncle Jim, James W. is buried in the Bellwood Cemetery, just as you enter Adams from the South, Go thru the gates, graves are on the left of driveway. There are many Stuards, there, including some of the brothers of James Wesley. Stella

Re: Stuard Marriages, Marin County, California, USA 1981-82

Hello Kimberly:

Considering the time frame for the marriage records I listed is NINETEEN hundred eighy one - eighty two, I would tend to doubt it. They are within 22 years of my posting date.

What time frame do you think *your* Great Grand Uncle lived in? When did he live? When did he die?

Have you done your census work? If not, starting there could provide you with more clues.

Yours Aye,

Lauren
Stuard Boad Admin

Ancestory of Joseph Andrew Stuard of Drumore Twp., Lancaster Co., PA

I recently found a family tree (on One World Tree) that lists the parents of Joseph Andrew Stuard (1789-1860)and his wife, Margaret Kees (1816-1892), of Drumore Twp., Lancaster Co., PA as John Adam Stuard and Jane Feaster and John Kees. I am descended from their son, Joseph Andrew Steward (II, 1841-1924), and have much information missing from this tree. Does anyone know who might have posted this tree?
