My maiden name is Stucki, and my grandfather was the only one in the family (that I know about)that came to the US. He settled in Buffalo, NY. His name was Walter Stucki (1889), Bern, Switzerland. His father was Johann Robert Stucki (1858) and his father Johannes Stucki (1830). Do you have any information on this branch of the family?

My maiden name is Stucki and my grandfather's family came from Bern. His name is Walter Stucki (He was born in Bern and died in Buffalo, NY about 1930). His father's name was Johann Robert Stucki and I think he was born in Bern in 1810. Anything you have with those names I would appreciate.

My husband is a descendant of Jacob Lortscher and Magdalena Stucki. Jacob's parents were Hans Lortscher and Susanna Flogerzi, all from Wimmis, Bern, Switzerland. He also has family from Diemtigen.

Arthur Conrad Stucki, Sr. was born in Amriswil, Switzerland on April 2, 1924 to William & Elise (Hohl) Stucki. He died at Flagler Hospital in St. Augstine, Florida on Wednesday, May 24, 2006. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, June 2, 2006 at the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home in Palm Coast, FL.
Mr. Stucki was a graduate of Georgia Tech University where he received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1944, and his Masters Degree in 1948. He began working for Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory in Columbia, MD in 1952, and retired as their Facilities Director in 1989. That same year, he moved to Palm Coast, FL from his home in Annapolis, MD. He enjoyed sailing and racing along the Chesapeake Bay, and he was also an avid tennis player, chess player, and bridge player. He also enjoyed bow hunting.
Mr. Stucki is survived by his sons, Arthur Conrad Stucki, Jr. of Norcross, CA, Thomas Warren Stucki of Glen Dale, MD, and Allan Paul Stucki of Vienna, VA; grandchildren, Dorothy Stucki and Kathryn Stucki, both of Atlanta, GA, and Sabrina Stucki of Vienna, VA; his brother, William Stucki of Kinnelon, NJ, his sister, Margaret Linstead of Pocatello, ID, and his companion, Joan Brackett.

Oooooh... how weird. I don't know but we could be distantly related: my mother's parents were born in Diemtigen, my mom's mom was Verena Knutti--I have pics of her house which I think became a police station and then was ruined in a recent (1990s?) avalanche. Verena married Gottfried Lortscher and they moved to Kansas. Verena had some sisters, I think, who were Rosa and ?? and they moved to NY. If this is interesting to you, I can get more info, but it's probably not. It's neat to see your info, though. Thanks (my last name is from my dad whose lineage is non-Swiss). -Mark

I have a Henry Malcom STUCKI, b. 31 Dec 1867 in Indiana, d. 14 Jan 1920 in Indiana. He married Ada DRAKE, 16 Aug 1885. She was b. 26 Mar 1867 in Indiana, d. 1 Aug 1924 in Indiana. I have only one child listed, Elizabeth Marie STUCKI, b. 1 Jan 1897 in Indiana, d. 18 Apr 1987 in New Mexico.
Would like to know who Henry's parent were and if any siblings.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I was very interested to read you post regarding the Stucki family in Canton Berne, Switzerland. It looks like you posted this 3+ years ago, so I hope your contact info is still current!

I am related to a Simon Stucki (Stuckey) II, who emigrated to the U.S. in 1737. He was supposedly born in Canton Berne in 1719, although some of our info shows him coming from the Saarland in Germany.

His father was Carolus Stucki, from Canton Berne we think, and mother was Maria Barbara.

Any chance Carolus is one of the Stucki's you have traced back to Berne through your Schneider line?

I am looking for any information on a Robert Stucki. He was married to Mary Flahavin[b.1843 county Kerry,Ireland]. They lived in Missouri int the Moniteau County,Mo area. Robert and Mary had 2 children I know of named Maurice[or Morris] and Maude. Either Robert died or he and his wife were divorced because abt.1864-65 she married a Maurice[or Morris] Sullivan. Hi, to start there is a Gottfried Stucki in our line
b. 4/27/1873 in Bollingen, Bern amd m. 11/25/1899 in Olten,
Solothurn to Anna Maria Kunz. Children were Edwin, Ester,Edna,
Walter,Frederic,Paul,Anna,Otta,Hilda,Hermine
,Esther, Martha and Frieda Clare ( Clara ).
His parents were Samuel Stucki b. 9/9/1841
in Buchholterberg and Anna Marie Hausammann
b. 2/19/1852 in Meikirch.
His parents were Samuel Stucki b. 11/1/1797
in Bucholterberg and Katharina Beutler b.
3/18/1804 in Bucholterberg.
His parents " Christian ? " Stucki b.3/2/1760
at Burcholterberg and Barbara Schenk.

There is still a Stucki family house in
Buchholterberg built in 1674 ( the old
family homestead ) and called " Nachstenacker ".

Other families are the Nyffelers of Huttwil,
Kunz's of Trub,Bill's of Munchenbuchsee,
Minder's of Rohrbach, Meuter's of Vinetz,
Zurchers of Trub, Schwendimann's of Wahlendorf,
and Beutlers of Buchholterberg.

Hope this helps somewhat and isn't too much information.
We have some of the original birth and marraige
licenses but hard to read in the old Germanic script.
Also interesting note is one Kunz and one Stucki
in my wifes family were killed in 1815 during
the invasion of Switzerland by Napoleon and thier names are
on a monument in Trub Heimat Buch, Bern.

Does anyone know of a connection between the surnames Stucki and Vonkanel? Looking for info. regarding my great-grandfather, Samuel Vonkanel who immigrated from Switzerland around 1886. I found a reference to a Jakob Vonkanel which also showed one Gottlieb Stucki as a relative. Any information or direction would be appreciated.

I am originally a SCHNEIDER with descendants from Buchholterberg and Oberdiessbach BERN, SWITZ and have traced them into a whole bunch of Stucki's from there. What names and dates do you have? I have about 15 pages worth of Stucki's that I have no clue if I can even match the connection with the Schneider's I'm looking for, but I'm pretty interested in this Stucki group...especially looking for one relative (probably never immigrated) named Gottfried Stucki that everyone -- including my SCHNEIDER lines -- seems to be related to. There is MUCH information on the RLDS site at www.familysearch.org. I would enjoy comparing information with you and sharing anything I have that you might be interested in!
