I am looking for info on Fredrick Studer b.6-9-1829 married Elizabeth Wahle B.2-13-1825. Their kids: Anna, Rudolf, Mary, Alexander, Jon, Fredrick, and Elizabeth. Fredrick and Elizabeth were both born in Switzerland and immigrated to the usa. I am not sure how many of their kids were born in Switzerland. They lived in Iowa after immagrating. This couple would be my Great, Great, Great Grandparents. I have no info on their ancestry or the decendants of their kids, except Anna, who would be my Great Great grandmother who married Gottfried Pfarrer..and thier son George Pfarrer who married Clara Groth. Any info would be wonderful. Thanks! Jody

I am willing to pay for the photos, any cost for scanning or shipping, etc. I know some have been posted to the Myfamily.com Studer site, but not sure who posted them or has the originals.
Any help is appreciated!
Lori

Let me correct you. The five STUDER brothers are: William Michael, Jacob, Clem, Lambert & Louos Gustaf - their sister was Rosie.

I have the picture to which you refer - Wm. Michael was my grandfather. I used to see Jake when we would travel from Michigan to Ottolville, Ohio whrere he was Sextant for the Catholic Church in Ottoville with the twin steeples. I met Uncle Lou when he visited my aunt, Myrtle Hynes in Jackson, Michigan about 1948-50 - He had made a trip from , Montanna, Idaho or Washington, I think, to Michigan. I never met Clem or Lambert. Believe Clem died young. I am positive the two you mention Wilbur & ?? were not brothers to Louis Gustaf. His mother Was Caroline SIEGRIST STUDER -lived to be 89 and died at the home of Son Bill in Jackson, MI about 1945. Her sister Mary SIEGRIST STUDER lived to be 91 & was married to Wendell STUDER's brother John STUDER both sons of Josef Franz STUDER born in Solothurn, Swtz.

Looking for any information on the parents of Sarah E. STUTER/STUDER, born Aug 12, 1852 likely in either Huntingdon Co., Juniata Co. or Mifflin Co., PA.

She was married to Samuel S. BROWN around 1869. Samuel S. BROWN was from the Mill Creek area of Huntingdon Co., PA and moved to Mifflin Co., PA.

Sarah died Aug 26, 1877 in Milroy, Mifflin Co., PA. Samuel remarried a year or so later to Rebecca STUTER/STUDER (born Apr 8, 1858), daughter of Jacob STUTER/STUDER and Theressa MILLER. Rebecca may have been a relative, but so far I have been unable to find anything that connects Sarah to this family.

Joseph Studer - Maria Anna Müller family

Looking for the European birthplace of Joseph Studer and his spouse Maria Anna Müller (or Miller). They arrived in Philadelphia on 9 Jun 1830 and by Nov of 1830 the family was living in Perry County, Ohio. The ship passenger list indicates the family was from Switzerland and Ohio census records list either France or Germany as places of nativity. From funeral records I know Joseph was born about Nov of 1785 and Maria Anna Müller about Apr of 1794. Six children were born in Europe - Joseph Jr in 1816, Mary Ann ca. 1817, Magdelena in 1819, Barbara ca. 1823, Bernard ca. 1825 and Aurelia ca. 1827. Joseph Studer is probably related to a Magdelena Studer, spouse of Michael Wagner (or Wagoner), who are listed in the same ship passenger list next to Joseph Studer. This family also settled in Perry County, Ohio.

Dwayne Montz

Hi John,

Thanks for your reply. I have not extended my research to the descendants of Magdelena Studer and her husband Stanislaus Weis. All I have are the birthdates of 7 children of the couple which I found in the St Joseph Church records and a few death dates. Which of their children is in your lineage?

Dwayne

I am now able to answer my query about this family. Joseph Studer was the son of Laurent Studer and Marguerite Spininger of Rittershoffen, Bas-Rhin, France. Maria Anne Müller was the daughter of Andre Müller and Eve Catherine Martin of Rittershoffen. Magdelena Studer, the wife of Michael Wagner, is the sister of Joseph.

Other family members also settled in Perry Co, OH. Laurent Studer along with at least two of his other children, George and John Franklin Studer, were in Perry Co in the early 1830s. Joseph Studer later moved to Mercer Co, OH, George Studer moved to Franklin Co, OH, the John Franklin Studer and Wagner families remained in Perry Co, OH.

Barbara Studer of Schonthal (Basel) Marries Jakob Mani

Hello,

Many years ago I discovered the work of Julles Belliter, a Swiss Genealogist, and one of the familes he had researched was the Mani Family of Diemtigen, Canton Berne, Switzerland. According to his research, my ggGrandfather, Jakob Mani, married Barbara Studer of Schonthal, Canton Basel in 1859. They had four children and emigrated to America somewhere in the mid 1870's to mid 1880's, settling in Holmes County, Ohio.
If anyone can help me locate my Barbara Studer and her ancestors (with their descendents) I would greatly like to hear from you.

Thank you,
Jim

Thanks to Linda in Hot Springs for RAOGK, we have some answers. M.B. Studer was in a wheel chair and died in an elevator accident in Hot Springs, where he had been living for about 8 years. He was survived by only his wife, Jessie Bell Hall Studer. He was a marine and a WWI veteran.

Jessie died in 1961 and was survived by a daughter and grandchild. The assumption is that she was married previously. If you would like more information, feel free to contact me.

Lori, Your post on Alexandra Studer, daughter of Jacob and Anna Maria Butticker caught my attention. Are your Studers and Buttickers from the town of Oberbuchsiten in the canton of Solothurn, Switzerland? My husband's line is from there and includes these names in his history except I don't know the last name of our Anna Maria. Jacob Butticker was born 26 April 1831, a twin of our ancestor John and Jacob married Anna Maria 11 July 1859 and died 1 May 1912, all in Oberbuchsiten. His parents were Nicolaus and Elisabetha Studer Butticker.

Hi Jessica,
My name is Larry Holt. I am the oldest of Janette Studer, one of Bobby's sisters. I know, or at least I used to know, Bobby pretty well. He and my dad and Charlie started Crest Bending in Crestline quite a few years back. I now live in So. California and have been here for over 20 years now. I was realy surprised to come across these posts. I didn't think I was ever going to find any kind of info--it seemed as if our family of Studers didn't even exist. And I know that isn't true--there are just to many of us. I am the oldest of 10 myself. I don't think I've ever met you or it may have been that you were very young at the time. How is your mother Dalores doing? I hope you get this post and that you might have some information to share about our history--anything, would be more than I know right now.
Take care...

California and have been for 20 years so I am a bit out of touch with everyone back in Ohio. I was doing some geneology research for Studer and I couldn't believe it when I came across your post. My eldest son in majoring in History and he has to do a paper on family geneology. I'm going to make him do a bunch of his own research--isn't that what he's supposed to do, but he was asking me some prelim questions and I really didn't have a clue for any answers. Was hoping maybe you had gotten somewhere in your search. Like, I have no idea of our ancestry and where we came from. I didn't catch your name, or why you were looking? Hope to hear from you soon...

Mother of Charles Studer

I am desperately looking for the name of the mother of Charles Studer. He was born in Worth, Woodford County, Illinois, in 1860, to Frank Studer and a "Mary C." I can find no information on Mary; no birth or death dates, nor a maiden name. I am assuming that she is from Germany, as Frank Studer was. Frank was born in Germany in 1826, and died in Illinois in 1916. Thanks for any help on Mary C!
