I am seeking the family or descendants of Mrs. Stueber whose maiden name was Engel and given name probably Christina. She was born either in Germany circa 1880 or in Iowa. She and her husband, Mr. Stueber, lived in Kansas City circa 1913 when a child was born to them. It is said that later they moved to New York City or that area. She was a cousin of my father, Oliver Herbert Engel, b. 1893, Gladbrook, Iowa. Christina (if that was her name) may have lived in Tama County, Iowa as a girl.

Does anybody know anything about a Stueber family that lived in Logansport, Indiana around 1900? My grandfather (Fred Stueber) was from Logansport - born around 1882.
That is all the information we have been able to find out about him. His mothers name may have been Anna. Do not know his father's name. Both parents were German. We think they may have come over from Germany but are not sure.

Eric, FYI- I have only been able to retrieve Uncle Hubs (Herbert's) burial location at this time. The rest of the family info is a mystery. Our ggrandfather Albert made cigars and our ggrandmother had possibly 3 children before marrying Albert. I have not been able to find the Stueber name on Illinois census but have found it in a couple forms in Wisconsin. Uncle Hub summered in Wisconsin so maybe there is a long lost connection up there. I have left messages on other genealogy boards but Albert doesn't seem to show up. Also, we had a ggreat-aunt Bertha who's married name was Brown(e) and she had a daughter named Mae. I don't know whether Bertha is Albert's sister or Emma's. Feel free to email me at
equinegal@libby.org We need to keep in touch better--we're not a very large family (yet!).

Hi, Eric-- Gee it has been a long time but I remember you well. My mother is your father's cousin-Sharon. I know that your mother and mine have knocked heads over our great-grand parentage but without success. I have learned that a Mrs. Emma Miller married a Albert Stueber in Chicago in 1891 so I am trying to follow up on that lead since our grandmothers were born there and their mother was born nearby. Also we have proof that Albert is their father's name and Emma their mother's. I have sent for a copy of the marriage certificate between Albert and Emma and hopefully I can learn more. Anything your mother and father can add would be terrific.

Stueber Family--Florence was my Grandmother

Florence Stueber Strelneck was my grandmother and I also knew "Uncle Hubert" from Chicago. I cannot remember correctly, but I think she was my Grandfather's second wife. They had a chicken ranch in Baldwin Park, CA (near Los Angeles) and they used to visit us often in the High Sierra, where I grew up. If I can be of any assistance, I will gladly do so and will also talk to my parents.

more on Stueber family connection

Ruth V Stueber Twitchell had a brother named Herbert (born in 1898) and sister Eleanor's married name was Tiltz and she lived in Hollywood Florida. (I think she has or had a daughter named Fran.) Possibly had 3 older !/2 brothers or sisters by another father. William or Bill-apparently their mother had been married previously and divorced (Illinois?).

Stueber Family connections

My grandmother was Ruth V. Stueber Twitchell (1911), her sister was Florence Stueber Strelneck, they had a sister named Eleanor who lived in Florida and a Brother called "Hub" probably Hubert who lived off and on in Chicago area. Grandmother may have been born in "Blue Lake" Illinois--she says court house burned down. There were other siblings but they have disappeared over time and my grandmother had not heard from them for the 60 to 65 years between their separation and her death in 1991. I would love to know if they are any family members out there and if there is any record of my grandmother's childhood, parents, etc. Thanks so much.
