Hello!

I am a Stull from Frederick, Md. I've read the threads, and I would guess that I would be a generation 6 or 7? My father, Sherman Clayton Stull was born February 13, 1916. His father was Orange Clayton Stull and he had brother named Chad Stull. My brother, Douglas, has researched the family history and we are descendents of Capt. Christopher Stull who fought in the American Revolutionary War.

My father passed away in 2005, and at that time he had 7 children, 23 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

Dorothy J. Szymanski Stull, age 83,
a resident of Pleasant Ridge Manor West and formerly of Wagner Avenue,
passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009.
She was born in Erie,County, pa,
June 12, 1926, a daughter of the late Antoni and Bernice Szymanski.
Dorothy had been employed with General Electric,
Marx Toys and Wells-McLean.
She bowled for many years in various women’s leagues, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers
and Pirates fan.
She was also an avid pinochle player,
enjoyed playing bingo at Pleasant Ridge, and loved gardening.
She was a lifetime member of Holy Rosary Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles J. Stull, Sr. on July 15, 2000, by step mothers, Mary and Lottie Szymanski, six brothers, Anthony, Joseph, Leonard, Stanley, Stephen and Ernie Szymanski, three sisters, Theresa, Sophie and Helen. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia D’Annibale, husband Peter; two sons, Charles J. Stull, Jr., wife Nancy and Stephen Stull, wife Joanne all of Erie; four grandchildren, Jenifer Maksin, husband Mark of Fairview, Melissa D’Annibale-Tolhurst, husband Aaron of Cary N.C., Theresa Stull, and Amy Huffer both of Erie. Friends may call at the A. I am looking for any information about Hannah Stull who was the daughter of William Waddle d. abt 1814 at Camp Erie, Pa. of Camp Fever, and Catherine Stephenson who most likely died in Sandy Lake, Pa. after 1830. I am hoping information about Hannah Stull will lead to information about William Waddle and his sister Sarah Waddle McDowell, b. abt 1775 and d. probably in Wolf Creek, Pa. Hannah Stull lived in Mercer County, Pa. and would have been born before 1814.

Here is some information on your side of Stulls ....some of the older Stulls will need lots more vertification as his parents but believe they probably the right line since they also came from Maryland..

They are both buried in the Sandridge Cemetery, next to them is their son Jesse T Stull and their daughter in law Louisa Morris Stull. In front of Jesse and Louisa is William F. Stull and his wife Polly.

Mrs. Blythe Dies in Vincennes Sunday:
Mrs. Elizabeth Blythe, a former resident of Mattoon and North Okaw township, passed away Sunday at Vincennes, IND., where she had been making her home for the last seven years with a daughter, Mrs. Robert Kirchival. Death was due to the infirmities of age. The body will arrive here late this afternoon over the Big Four and will be taken to the home of Bert Stull a grandson living at 2609 Broadway, where it will lie until the hour for the funeral. Services will be held at ten o'clock on Tuesay at the Baptist church and burial will be in Dodge Grove cemetery. Mrs. Blythe would bave attained the age of ninety years in September. She was married twice. Her second husband, John Btythe, has been making his home for several years with a daughter. Mrs. Tillie Wiley, 1112 Broadway. Mr. and Mrs. Blythe were married forty-six years ago and in their declining years have been making their home with their children, being kept apart through necessity. Mr. Blythe will be ninety-ywo years old in October. Members of Mrs. Blythe's family state that South Carolina probably was her birthplace. Most of her life was passed in this state. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. David Stull, until Mrs. Stull's death. She remained with her grandson, Bert Stull, in this city until she went to Vincennes. Besides the daughter at Vincennes, Mrs. Blythe leaves a son, John Hastings, at Kinmundy. There are a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She has a brother, Henry Revell, living in Kansas.(Source: Mattoon Journal Gazette, July 30, 1928) This is all I have found, if there are any misspelled words, sorry.

I have searched for 5 years for Lawrence's brother/son wife name. James is a Lawrence Stull brother and Lawrence Stull named one of his sons James. This James Stull lived in Posey County Indiana and married a Elizabeth. She later married a Moses Cross after James died. Well I know her maiden name and have had it for some time and not paying attention to my notes. (so shoot me) Always reread your notes. It was the same thing I did with Josephine Hastins mother. Their first son was William R. Stull so I am assuming that's where you got the name of William. I have been stuck on Rebecca's family (other that to know that she was the daughter of Archibald and Sarah Harris, who were originally from one of the Carolinas -- North, I've come to believe)

William Stull was married to Rebecca Harris 1811 Christian Co., KY. Rebecca was the daughter of Archibald and Sarah Harris. The two families....Stull and Harris.... and their connection went to Jefferson Co., Illinois by 1820; moved over to Hamilton Co., Illinois by 1823 and 1824 where I found Archibald Harris a Minister at Ten Mile. I am not a Stull descendant...I descend from Rebecca Harris Stull's younger brother, Uriah Harris.
I will be happy to correspond with anyone who is researching this Stull/Harris people.

David G. Stull

David G. Stull of Taft Street, Hanover Township, died Monday at home.

Born Sept. 6, 1924, in Edwardsville, he was the son of the late Warren and Sara Amos Stull. He was a graduate of Kingston High School. He was an Army Air Force veteran of the second World War, surviving in the European Theater of Operations.

He was the former owner/operator of Wilkes-Barre Ice Co., and then for over 34 years, was an optical technician with Luzerne Optical, Wilkes-Barre, retiring in 2005. He was a member of Dr. Edwards Memorial Congregational Church, Edwardsville, and the American Legion Post 395, Kingston.

David and his wife, the former June Wallace, celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on March 28.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, David and his wife, Rose Ann Stull, Forty Fort; Thomas and his wife, Regina Stull, Larksville; Gary Stull, Swoyersville; grandchildren, David, Ryan and Jennifer Stull, Erin Stull, Gary Stull Jr. and Macy Stull.

He was preceded in death by brother, Warren Stull.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from Mamary-Durkin Funeral Services, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m.

SUSAN B. PRICE (d/o George & Elizabeth Martin) married John Atherholt 1833 in Rush, NY. They moved to Metamora, MI after 1847. Susan Price Atherholt died Nov 4, 1879 in Lapeer, MI and buried in the Atherholt family plot in Metamora, MI with her husband John d: Jan 12, 1883 and their eldest son Peter Price Atherholt. (Note: Peter died in the Battle of Winchester, Va Sep 19, 1864. He was buried in a mass grave on Farmer Dinkel's property in VA. I obtained a gravestone for him and have it IN MEMORY with his parents).
ADAM PRICE (s/o Capt Philip Price & Ssannah Layamn)b: Frederick, MD DEc 24, 1770. he married sister of jacob Stull but she died in Hartford. In 1802 he married Cathnerine Shaver. They lived in Rush, NY next to his brother Philip. He had 10 children. He move to Shelby, Macomb Cty, MI in 1824. Adam and his brother Jacob built the first saw mill and grist mill in Shelby in 1828-29. Jacob died in 1829 so Adam sold the mill and went into farming. He died Oct 1, 1838. He and wife Catherine are buried in the Connor Cemetery Shelfy Twp, MI. Their 10 children lived in Shelby Twp. - 1-Tobias Price b: 1804. He married Emma Fellows of Rush, NY. They had Julia, Rosanna or Arvillia. They lived their 1850 - 1860. 2 - Joshua Price b: Sep 15, 1806. d: Mar 11, 1887 Shelby. m. Ann Monfort. 3 - George Price b: June 24, 1808. m: Lorena Scott Dec 27, 1829 in Macomb Co, MI. They lived their in 1850 and 1860. All their children were born in MI. 4 - David Madison Price b: May 11, 1810 d: Apr 9, 1900 Bur in Shelby. HENRY PRICE (s/o Capt Philip Price)b: Jan 31, 1792 in Frederick, MD. He married Permelia Jefferds. In 1824 they moved to Hadley, Lapeer Co, MI where he died in 1874. They had 8 children.
WILLIAM PRICE (s/o Capt. Philip Price) came to MI in 1823. m: Sally Axford. He died 1857. They had 5 children.

JOHN STULL
Mr. Stull was a carpenter and came to Lancaster in 1801. He made the window sash for John Baldwin's house, a famous old landmark on the Newark road. He planted the sycamore trees in front of his lot on Broad Street, where Will Thimmis now lives, and which once belonged to him. The present house was erected by John Lyons. To his trade he added that of plasterer
He was a devoted disciple of Izaak Walton and spent much of his time in fishing. He died in 1846.

Go to Franklin County's Valley of the Shadow and read the last few pages of the Rev. Abraham's diary and it will give lots of information on the Cook family.
Rev. Abraham was the son of John Essick.
John's brothers were Abraham, Christian and Ludwig.
Sister was Elizabeth. John's father married a second time to Sophia Pap and had 4 more children, one died in her teens and he had Mary, Sophia, and Jacob. Adam's will is on file in Adams County,Pennsylvania

Phyllis L. Stull, 82, a former resident of Castanea, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2009 at Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.

Born Jan. 31, 1927 in Kato, she was the daughter of Leonard and Relda McCloskey Hinton.

Phyllis was married on June 22, 1963 to Cecil L. Stull, who died May 29, 2008. They celebrated 44 years of marriage together.

Surviving are one son, Gary E. (Mary) Probst Sr. of Jersey Shore; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Clifford.

The funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. today at the Helt Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Friends and relatives will be received one hour prior to the service.

Jeanne Marie Stull
went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2008 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Jeanne was the daughter of the late Ruth and Francis Caughey, born June 25, 1941. After earning her business degree from Tri-State Business Institute, Jeanne was employed by First Student Transportation Company of Millcreek Schools. Later,
she drove a school bus for General McLane School District until retirement. Jeanne was an active member of the St. Francis Usher’s Club of McKean,
and a former president of the McKean Lionnesses Club.
She is survived by her loving husband of many years - Robert Stull,
her son Glenn (“Chip”) Hultman of Erie, daughter Donna (Hultman) Mertens and her husband, Todd of Connecticut, daughter Carla (Hultman) DeMarco and her husband Mike of Colorado and her brother, Donald Caughey of Erie. She is also survived by her step-children, Robert and Kathy Stull, David Stull and Marianne Covatto â?" all of Erie. Jeanne will be missed by many grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and her niece and nephew. Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Glunt Funeral Home, 210 Erie Street, Edinboro, PA 16412. A service will be held there on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Shelow officiating. Burial will be in McLane Cemetery. Cecil L. Stull, 82,
of Jersey Shore, died Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Jersey Shore Hospital.

Cecil was married to the former Phyllis Lorraine Hinton, who survives.

He was born Oct. 19, 1925 in Beech Creek, the son of Frank and Hazel (Hoffman) Stull.

He retired from Piper Aircraft in 1985 after 33 years. Cecil was an avid hunter and loved gardening. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

Surviving are his wife and one son, Gary (Mary) Probst Sr. of Jersey Shore; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

The funeral service will be held Monday, June 2, 2008 at 8 p.m. at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, with Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday.

Private family interment will be at Dunnstown Cemetery.

Richard O. Stull, age 90,
formerly of Erie, now residing at Holiday Camplands in Andover, Ohio
and wintering in Sebring, Fla.,
died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital in Warren, Ohio.
Richard was born March 21, 1918, son of the late Wm. Arnold and Helen Peterson Stull. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Stull.
Richard was a life member of the Siebenbuerger Club, and a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory Valley of Erie and the Moose Club in Sebring, Fla.
He retired as a foreman from the General Electric Co.,
and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
Beloved husband of Marlene Stull;
brother of Robert Stull (Virginia) of Erie;
Father of Cheryl Browning (Ed) of Kingston, Mich.;
Richard A. Stull (Gail) of Boise, Idaho;
Guy Morelli (Carolyn) of Mill Village;
several grandchildren;
great-grandchildren;
nieces and nephews. Friends
may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East. 2607 Buffalo Road on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Saturday at 10 a.m. conducted by Rev. Wayne Sova of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Interment Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Family or Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, Pa. 16505.

My great grandfather was Andrew Rock born 1858. He married Mary Stull born 1860. They had two young sons Charles and Jesse. They both died of an illness when getting ready to move from Franklin Co. I know that you posted this thread a long time ago, but I'm new to this and just found it. My great grandfather was Josiah Stull he was born August 9, 1904 Nappanee Indiana and died in 1963 in New Castle Pennsylvania. His father's name was also George and his mother Susan. He also had all of the brothers and sisters that you have listed in your post. He married Antoinette Leitera who passed away in 2001. They had three children. That is all I can tell you for now as I am having a hard time finding the father of George. I have found a Joseph S. Stull who had a son named George born in Indiana around the same time my great great father was. That is all the info I have for now I hope it helped.

Thank you for replying; Philip Price that married Anna Marie Stulter and Henry Price that married Permelia Jefferds are connected with branches of my tree; but I am trying to sort the others out also; but Philip and Henry I really want.I have found several census and some bios out of Macomb, but whatever you have I sure would appreciate.

Do you know anything about the Price's that came to Michigan?
I have Philip W. Price that married Nancy Harvey; he is the son of Philip and Susannah Price.

I also have Henry Price and Permila? Jefferds, son of Philip and Susannah..There seems to be so many Price's in the Macomb area, I am having a hard time sorting them out. Philip and Nancy Price ended up in Oakland Co, Mi along with Henry Price family. Sure would like to know more about them?

The Jacob Steele (son of James Steele and Catherine Greenbury) who married Rosanna DeVilbiss (daughter of Adam DeVilbiss and Catherine Barrick) 1802 MD has been said to have come from Ireland, but without any documentation. Rosanna's grandmother was Anna Catharina Stuhl (wife of George DeVilbiss). Anna's father was the German immigrant Adam Stull. Is it possible that Jacob Steele is descended from the same Stuhl/Stull family and that these are all just different spellings of the same name?

Georgene passed away in 2001. I am her sister and I would like to continue her search. Does anyone know if Roy was from Germany or Scotland? What tribal nation was Surriah from (as there are 5 if I'm not mistaken)? I saw a photo of Surriah once and her nationality appeared to be native indian however family never mentioned this before. There is a family tree book that one of their grandchildren published in 1999.
