John STUMP came to US c.1700 from England - family was from Prussia originally, but had lived in Eng. for generations. Came to PA, married Mary Catherine BAKERIN in Phila., 1726. Moved to northeast MD btwn. 1726 and 1730 - settled there in Cecil County. Lines extend into Harford and Baltimore Counties. Know there is a Frederick Co. line but not sure how it fits in yet w/ the Cecil/Harford/Balto. Also, some of these "Maryland" STUMPS ended up in Virginia and Texas.
