I'm looking for any information on Sudduth's in Mississippi including George Sudduth who was the son of John Sudduth and Lula Lacey. John Sudduth was the son of John Sudduth and Sara Frazier. Family lore says that this family line may have been Choctaw Native American. I would appreciate any information that other researchers have on this line.

Thanks,
Cathy

After they married they lived with Ermina's parents for at least one year. I have information on the Roberts and would like to share. There are not many who descend from this line. James & Ermina had daughters and some died young. At least 2 daughters lived to be adults and married. I'm hoping there are descendants of this line who would like to have some information I have.

Could anyone please help me? I have just begun to research family history. My paternal grandmother was Catherine Sudduth of Mississippi. She was born in 1900 per her gravestone. She died in Georgia. She married Augustin Washburn Stevens II in 1918. She told me that she was the last child in a large family. When she was born she had siblings with grown children. Her father was (I think) Thomas J. Sudduth and her mother was Eugenia Crossley Sudduth. If you have any information about this family please contact me at hugotkathy@msn.com. I would like very much to hear from you. Sincerely, Kathy Torrens

Mary "Polly" Sudduth

What a pleasure to find a "Sudduth" site on the internet! The name is so unusual that I have hopes that all of us may be distant cousins. I am a descendent of Mary "Polly" Sudduth. Beyond her name, I know little about her, and I've had precious little luck in finding anything. I do know that she married Lemuel Keeth on September 24, 1818 in Attala County (or maybe Amite County), Mississippi. She had one child that I know of, though I suspect there were several more. The one I know of is my ggreatgrandfather, Asa Keeth. If any of you have any clues where I might start searching for information about Polly, please help me out. Thanks, Shirley

Death date/place Catherine Sudduth Pullen & James M Pullen 1900-1910

Catherine WARD SUDDUTH was born 6 Oct 1863 Scott Co., KY, the daughter of James SUDDUTH (1815-1900) and Lucinda WARD SUDDUTH (1838-1928). Mary SUDDUTH STODDARD's book The Sudduths of Pretty Run, private printing, 1955, states that she married a Mr. - - PULLEN and that she died in 1912 "in Florida". Florida has no record of her death.

The couple appear in the 1900 census for the 2nd Ward, City of Everton, Rock Prairie Twp, Dade County, Missouri, ED 67, Sh 5A, Page 263A, Line 6, Dwelling 89, Family 90. Husband James M. PULLEN (age 40) and wife Catherine W. (age 36). Married 8 years, circa 1892.

I cannot find them in the 1910 census and assume they died in Dade County, MO. Can anyone confirm their death and burial?

Asking for input on Sudduth family finding.

I have been doing research for 20 years on the Southard family. Im very interested in the Sudduths as I feel there is a connection. I have been reading about Henry s/o David from Scotland. I have a problem with this. There is not a bit of proof of any of this ?? At least that I have seen. I checked the passenger list for David Suddon and it lists all passengers. NOT A HENRY LISTED !! Now if David had a son that came with him he would be listed on the list.
Second I have found a Henry Suthard that came to a southern county of Maryland in late 1600's which is listed on a passenger list. The Henry Sudduth of Stafford Co. Va. only had to cross the river from Md. to Va.
I think this is the real Henry and not this fairytale David/Henry linage story.
It is English / Scot tradition to name sons after their elders.
If David was the father of Henry then why isnt there a David in any of the linage ?
Im open for all opinions and remarks please.
Just looking for the truth !!!
Thanks for your interest.
Monte Southward

Sudduth Families of Pike Co. GA and Randolph Co. AL

I'm searching for information on the ancestors of James Sudduth, b: 1803 or 1810 in GA. He lived in Russell Co. AL for a time, and appears in the 1840 census there. He then returned to Pike Co GA in time for the 1850 census, then migrated to Randolph Co., AL. His father was born in VA, and is mother in either NC or SC. His family included his wife, Mary (Amerson?), sons William, Jonathan, Elijah, Eli, James A., Elbert and Daniel. Daughters were Mary A., Eliza and Jane. I suspect that he had a brother named Elbert, born in 1812 in GA. James died sometime after 1880, probably in Randolph Co, near Roanoke, AL.

My descent is via Jonathan, son of James, and his son James Chessley. Any information on ancestors or descendents would be very helpful. My E-mail address is jimmmm@comcast.com.

George W. Sudduth and Maranda Seaman were my 4th great grandparents. George was born in 1820, probably in OH and died 1894 in Union County, Ohio. He married Maranda Seaman about 1840. Their children were Josephine, Laura Mae, Benjamin, Frances, Emory, Romina, Marinda, Henry, amd Charlie. Josephine married Aaron Orahood and they're my 3rd great grandparents. I'd love to exchange information with descendants of any of these.

To the best of my knowledge I have no marital connections to the Sudduth family lines. However, I thought this might be of some interest to Sudduth family researchers:
Court Order Book 4 1805-1818 lists the following:
"At a court held for Clarke County at the Court house thereof in the Town of Winchester, on Monday the 28th day of August 1809. Present Nicholas (last name unsure), Benjamin J. Taul and Dillard Collins:

Allotment of the hands to work under Jacob Dawson overseer of the Road from Hoods Creek to Stoner :
Returned approved and ordered to be recorded which said allotment is a follows to wit: (first name unsure. May be Iese Cofer Sewell), William M. Clanahan, William Corbin, Thomas Rodgers, Levi Ashbrook, Jacob Smith, Lewis Sudduth, George Dean, Willliam Hall, William Danley, Allen Sewell, John P. Hill, John Danley ?, William Sudduth, Samuel Arnett, Isaac Constant, John Hood, Jonathan Myers, Charles Boggs."

Hope this is of some help.

Catherine Ward Sudduth 1863-1912?

James Sudduth (1815-1900) and Luncinda Ward (1838-1928) lived for a while in LaBette Co, KS, as well as in Shelby and Moultrie Counties, Illinois. Daughter CATHERINE was born, according to Mary Sudduth Stoddard's Book The Stoddard-Sudduth Papers, The Sudduths of Pretty Run, on 16 Oct 1863 in Scott Co, KY. Mary says Catherine "married a Mr. Pullen" and then died in Florida 1912.

The marriage was after the 1880 census when she was in her father's HH. I can find no record of the marriage in the usual family counties of residence, nor does Florida have a death record.

Who did she marry? When and where? When and where did she die?
