Hi I hope that someone reading this can help --I seem to be looking for different Sufferns to those so far posted .

My Sufferns also originate from Antrim but the descendants are all in Australia.

My granmother was Winifred Suffern -She was born in Brighton Victoria Australia in 1899 and married William Sturdy Brown in 1912.

Winifreds father was Geo or George Suffern who married Rachel Malcomsen Hanna in Brighton,in 1912 Australia -They were quite old when they married(32 and 33)
Rachel was born in 1854 in Bedford Co. Antrim . and I believe came to Australia with her brother Frederick Greer Hanna. I cannot find when geo left Antrim and came to Australia but on his death certificate he names his parents as Robert Suffern and Mary Clarke. On researching these two names in Antrim I found the following possible siblings to Geo .They all but the oldest two had birth sources naming parents but I have found none for Geo or David .
Geo 1853,David 1857, Corbett 1863, Ella Musgrave 1863, Frederick 1865, Mary Rubina 1868, Sydney 1869,Isabella 1870, Herbert 1871. The stories we were told as children was that our great grandfather on thr Suffern side were from France prior to Ireland and Geo had a number of seaman and Captain brothers who ended up in Australia - some chasing Gold-- I believe Geo is from this family for as well as his death certificate ,most of these siblings did come too Autralia and many on ships as staff or captain -also Winifred Suffern gave one of her children the middle name Clarke and -Can anyone help re Geo
