Hi George: I just saw your reply from 2003. Anyway, I know little about my family's history except my great-grandparents came from Lithunia. My grandfather was Stanley Shugdinis who past away in the 1950's. He was born in Pittston, PA. I believe we have Shugdinis relatives that moved to Michigan. As far as I know, we were the only Shugdinis'. Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,
I see that you last posted several years ago but perhaps you are still around to see this message. My great-grandparents settled in NE Pennsylvania after immigrating from Lithuania. Their last name was Shugdinis but at some point they legally changed it to Greene. What's your story? Could we be related???

Albert Sugdinis from Waterbury, CT was my grandfather. He married my grandmother, Evelyn and had two sons, Albert and Edward. I am Albert's daughter, Sonia. I live in Western Massachusetts. They divorced in the late 1940's or early-mid 1950's. My father and his brother's last names were later changed to Avery when my grandmother remarried. Hopefully this helps. If you have any family information, I would love to talk sometime.

I posted here back in 2000 or so looking for information about my grandfather, Albert C. Sugdinis. He was originally from Connecticut and later relocated to Florida after a divorce from my grandmother. They divorced somewhere in the late 1940's/early-mid 1950's. Before their separation they had two sons, Albert and Edward Sugdinis, but later their changed last name to Avery when my grandmother remarried. I am Albert's Daughter, Sonia. I believe that my grandfather remarried in Florida also to a woman possibly by the name of Barbara? Just wondering if anyone has any information. Thanks for reading.

Hi Chris,
I'm David's daughter, Christine. I only found your posting now and hope it gets to you, I'm interesting in learning about the family and who is left in the Waterbury area.
I don't know about Ned- never heard of him; I was always told by my great aunt that all of us here in the U.S. are related, (Shugdinis')- but I don't recall ever hearing that name.

Hi George:

I do not have any information about ties to Lithuania nor many of the other Shugdinis'. All I know is that my grandfather lived in Pittston, Pennsylvania. I would like to find some information about his parents, cousins, etc... I know there were many Lithuanians in the Pittston area. I'm sorry I couldn't give you any information. Hopefully we will be able to find out more eventually. Good Luck and keep me posted with your search.

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl:

My name is George Shudinis and I live in Phoenix AZ. As
my brother noted in a response to Christopher below, our
family migrated here from Lithuania and we believe our last
name was changed a little. I believe my grandfather served
in the Russian military for a while before coming to the US.
Any additional info on the Lithuanian "connection" would be
greatly appreciated. This is "pretty weird" running across
someone with, what could be, the same last name after
thinking we were the "only ones"!?!?

George

Christopher,
My name is Michael Shudinis and I live in Denver Colorado.
My father is still living (82 years young) but, he cannot trace his background beyond his father.
My father did note that our last name (Shudinis) is a derivation of some other name (like Sugdinis, Shudzinis, etc.).

My grandfather was a coal miner that lived in West Frankfurt Illinois (via Chicago and I do believe somewhere on the East Coast i.e. Conn).
He died in the late 50's.

Please contact me as we are planning our Shudinis re-union this weekend in Phoenix Arizona.

Best Regards,
Mike

There may to be 2 separate Sugdinis family bloodlines from the Waterbury Ct. area and I'd like to confirm this.

The first includes Joseph's and Alberts side of the family (my grandfather), the David Shugdinis family, Joel Sugdinis's family (Joseph's son and my father).

The second appears to be a completely separate family line that includes a Ned Sugzdinis and his family line. I was able to get in contact with Ned a couple years back.

There is not much documented information to confirm a connection between the two families on either family side. If anyone has any information, please let me know.

If anyone has a documented family tree, please share it with us.

Thanks,
Chris
