I will use the spelling Sulser/Sulcer interchangably as did our ancestors. I descend form James Sulser b. 1819 VA. Siblings are Sarah P. Sulcer/Sutton, David b.1821, Andrew James b. 1822, George b. 1826/27, Samuel b. 1827, Nancy b. 1831 , all born in VA. For several years I chased a Henry as their father to find this is incorrect. I also do not believe their father was Larkin. I believe their father was Ambrose of VA, brother of Larkin, perhaps twin brother. Ambrose may well have left VA about 1832-1835 and came to Marshall Co., AL with the entire family. I believe he died before 1940, which is why his youngest child Nancy was living with her older sister Sarah Sutton by the 1850 AL Census. James Sulser b. 1819 and Andrew James Sulser b. 1822 are brothers, not the same person. James Sulser married 1. Tabitha Farmer 2. Manilla Cloud, both in Marshall County.
Does anyone have positive confirmation that Ambrose was the father? And who is the father of Ambrose and Larkin? My guess-only a logical sequence - is they connect with the sons of Mathias Sultzer/Selsor who came from Germany in 1730 and setteled in VA. Anyone else have information along this line?
Thanks, Phil
