Richard Sullins

Anyone have any info on him? He was born in about 1720 in the British Isles somewhere. He was said to be a Scotch/Irishman (a Scot living in Ireland supposedly). He came to Virginia in the 1750s. I'm looking for his parents and place of origin. Some of my ancestors use Sullins (as I do)instead of Sullens.

I don't think so. Sullins was Sullens, at least in my family tree. My dad used to tell me that he thought our name came from Sullivan and probably O'Sullivan in Ireland. But my research says that is not very likely.

Looking for Patty, Robert or Kathy Sullins. They used to live in Atwater or Winton, CA. Kathy worked at the base before moving closer to her other daughter, Sheryl, possibly in Marin County. Robert worked at Foster Farms I think. Patty was married to a nurse I think, last name Watkins. (now divorced) We all grew up together in South San Francisco. Would love to get back in touch.

My grandmother Louisa Elizabeth Sullins (Crouch)she is the daughter of John Andrew Sullins, son of James Edward Sullins b may 27 1833, James was the son of James H. Sullins b July 11 1800, he was the son of John C. Sullins b about 1765, John C. Sullins dad was Nathan Sullins b 1742, Nathan's dad was Richard Sullins born 1720. My grandmother was 8th. born of 15 kids.

My best friend lived in Richton Park IL and we were the best of friends. I have tried locating her and her family but to no avail. Her name was Pam Sullins, she had a sister named Linda and a brother named Philip. Just figured I would try my luck but it is not happening. Thank you anyway.

HAMILTON, Ala. — Howard Ray Sullins, age 72, died on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2007, in Hamilton, Ala.
Born Feb. 13, 1935, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958. He worked at Tecumseh Products for 45 years, retiring in 1997.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ruby Pauline Sullins; a daughter, Wilma (Cletus) Smith of Clayton; sons, James (Lisa) Mason of Adrian and Dannie Ray Sullins of Hamilton, Ala. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Heidi Mason, and three grandsons, Kirk J. Anderson, Kyle Mason and Dean (Kayla) Anderson.
I do not research this family.

The Sullins (Sullens) families have been around since the colony days. My line VA > Tn > MO > AL. However, I have not known of a name change to Sullivan. I do have a cousin, Lillian Sullins (b1912, Al), m. Henry Sullivan (b. 1908, Al; d 1968). They had one son Robert Henry Sullivan (b 1941, d.1986. The families probably connected in Marion Co., AL. Sullins, also often spelled Sullens was quite a large family. My wife's mother was a Sullins from Arkansas with roots in Tenn and Va.

I doubt any had anything to do with the mame "Sullivan".

Carolyn I have seen you post on other boards our lines must cross more than once. John must have been my gggrandfather's brother. Andrew was in the Civil War and was a Col. Andrew's middle name was Wilkerson. Margaret's was Elmira(Myra). Fred Theodore was my gggrandfather. Fred married Nora Ellen Pendley and they had 11 children Vina, Adam, Ruby, Jesse, Winnie, Waits, Clyde, Lewis, Lawson, Gordon and Dortha. Anyways Fred's daughter Vina Sullins married Will Buchanan. Fred died in 1980 just shy of his one hundredth birthday. Fred I know was a blacksmith and had a livery. I think Granny said he was the sheriff or something like that too. I have more info, stories, pictures and such if you email me.

Do you happen to know what part of Texas she was from. I am also looking for information on the Sullins family. I have quite a bit of the geneology of my side of the sullins family, and I would be glad to look it up for you. My grandmother was Gladys Ora Sullins who died in childbirth with my mother in 1934. I am having problems finding information on her death or my mother's birth. Let me know if you know the county, and in the meantime, I will go through my records.

I am searching for my father, the name that I was given was a Michael Sullins from Liberty Hill, Texas. I was born in 1980 so I would guess him to be around mid 40-s now. I am not sure if he even knows that I exist but I would love to be able to find my missing side of the family and fill that part of my life with the information that has been absent from my life for twenty five years...
My Mother's name was Michelle Lynn Harper

Only one Crane family in 1850 Cannon- William 23 born Pa and Mary A. 23 born Tn. Only one in Warren County that year, William 23 born NY and Mary A,. 23, born Tn. Looks like the same couple with William's birth place wrong on one.

The only Eli I find in Cannon was Eli Balaam Sullins born 1855 with three wives, (1) Ionna Barnes (2) Sarah E. ? (3) Caroline "Tine" ? This Eli died 1931 in Ellis County, Texas. He was a son of Richmond Sullins, son of Jesse.

I'll keep looking.

Hi! Thanks for your post! Jesse Sullins (Sr) had a son that was Jesse Sullins Jr... I can't vouch for the middle initial, but that is what I know. Jesse Sr. signed for my Julia Hogan (his step daughter) to get married to my g.g. grandfather Elias Lane. Jesse's handwritting was very nice, and very clear. Do you know of any other information concerning your Sullins family?

The common spelling for the surname of William David [1878-1959], husband of Sarah Gallaher [1876-1954] from Batavia, New York and father of Dorothy (Sullings) [1898-1970] Frahn was Sullings and not Sullins. While there are several official records that spell the surname for the descendants of John [1746-1824] and Ruth (Spooner) [1750-1828] Sullings great-grandparents of William as Sullins the common spelling was SULLINGS. William's father David who died in William's home in New Decatur, Alabama on 26 January 1916 was my great-great-granduncle. Dorothy, his grandaughter, who was actually born in Batavia and not Alabama accompanied the body back to Batavia where David was buried with his wife Julia Augusta (Rogers) Sullings in Elmwood cemetery with his parents, sister Ruth and his daughters Cora and Georgiana. I have researched this family extensively for a number of years. We have visited the graves John (Revolutionary War veteran) and Ruth (Spooner) (descendant of Mayflower passenger Richard Warren) Sullings in Rutland Vermont and William and Temperance (Hulbert) Sullings in Batavia, New York. I am seeking any and all information on John C. SULLINS b. 27 Mar 1884 in Spruce Pine, Mitchell, NC. John was the son of Andrew and Margaret (Wiseman) SULLINS. He married first Allie Etta BUCHANAN b. 16 Jul 1886 in Mitchell Co., NC d. Bet 1920-1923 in ? (Allie Etta is my Great-Aunt and would love to have any information on her as well.) After Allie Etta died, John married Lydia Dayton and lived in the Grassy Creek area of Mitchell Co., NC.

Have just rediscoverd this message and realize that my ggrandmother sarah jane sullins married mark anthony abrams in 1908. he dies in 1918 of consumption. I am now on the track of her mother milly jack frances berryhill who married alexander sullins in 1878 in Cannon Co TN. I am able to trace the sullins line...but the berryhill buch is giving me brick walls. Any ideas?

Kenneth, I am searching for a Elizabeth Crane that married Eli Sullins on Aug 4, 1881 in Cannon Co., TN. She was born 1865 and may of also been known as Lily. She was the daughter of Allison Woodville Crane and M.E. Sapp and granddaughter of Josiah and Prudence Crane. She lived with her grandparents in the Cannon Co., TN censuses 1870 & 1880. Eli Balaam SULLINS (20 Oct 1855, Cannon Co., TN - 17 May 1931, Ellis Co., TX) was the son of James and Harriett (BARNES) SULLINS. Eli was the grandson of Richmond, son of Jesse, son of Josiah, son of Richard SULLINS the immigrant, who died in Halifax Co., Virginia, circa 1771.

Eli first married on 6 Jan 1875 in Warren Co., TN, to Ionna BARNES. They had one child, James B. SULLINS (b. 28 Apr 1876, Cannon Co., TN).

Eli secondly married Sarah Elizabeth CRAIN on 4 Aug 1881 in Cannon Co., TN. They had one child, Robert Neil SULLINS (b. Aug 1881, TN).

Eli lastly married on 7 Feb 1884 in Cannon Co., TN, his second cousin Melissa Clementine (Tine) [called "Caroline" in some records, including their marriage record] SULLINS (born 1 June 1858, Cannon Co., TN; died 27 Jan 1937 Ellis Co., TX). She was the daughter of M. Lavender (Levi or Lav) and Polina/Perlina (KERBY) SULLINS. Eli and Tine had 8 children.

We've always assumed that Sarah Elizabeth (CRAIN) SULLINS died around 1883. Is that not correct? Are you her descendant?

Walter SULLINS was the son of Richmond R. SULLINS and Elizabeth (Betsy) YOUNG. Walter appeared on the census of 1910 in Cannon Co., TN, living with his daughter Candace MURPHY. Burley L. SULLINS (Mar 1878 - Oct 1944) was Walter's nephew.

My grandmothers name was also Esta Mae sullins..hmmm interesting...my father's name is J.T. Sullins and I had several Aunts & Uncles but never knew any of them due to me only being only 28 now.
