Robert W. Sumners was born June 4, 1919 in Houston Texas to DeFord and Grace Yeagley Sumners. He was married to Martha Burnette Sumners August 28, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Sumners passed away Tuesday, January 29, 1991 at the age of 71 in Humana Hospital, San Antonio. He was Vice-President and Treasurer of Anderson-Clayton Company and also a long-time employee of that company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Braunfels, the River Oaks Country Club, a 1940 graduate of Rice University in Houston. He was on the Board of Directors of the Festival Hill Foundation in Round Top, and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors are his wife Martha Sumners, daughters Marte Sumners Kellogg, Becky Sumners. Sons Donald DeFord Sumners, Robert William Sumners Jr. Sister Mrs. Carl Wischmeyer of Fairhaven, NJ. Eleven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Funeral services Friday February 1, 1991 at 1pm at St. John the Divine Chapel in Houston Texas. Memorials may be given to the Houston Junior Forum or the Festival Hill in Round Top, TX.
