Greetings,
I have e-mailed you these two links, hopefully these web pages will help you with what you are looking for. If I am not mistaken, the name Rollo is Scandinavian. There seems to be a long history with Sunderland/Sunderlin with the Scandinavian, English, and Irish. I believe that my Grandfather's name was Rollo Sunderlin. He fought in WW2 and recieved the bronze Metal of Honor. The Sunderland and Sunderlin Crest and shield are the same. For some reason Sunderlins or Sunderlands have through out history switched the spelling of the last name.

http://www.houseofnames.com/fc.asp?s=Sunderlin&sId=
http://www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.fc/qx/sunderland-family-c...

Have a nice day!
My Regards
-Gary Sunderlin
<a href="http://www.garysizzles@yahoo.com" target="_blank">http://www.garysizzles@yahoo.com

I was glad to hear from you. I have a great deal of information that I believe that you can use. I know that Amos Baird Sunderlin had eight children the sixth of which was Rollo Clair sunderlin and that his wife was Ruby M. Sullivan. They had five children, Ralph, Tommy, Allen, Keith, and Larry.

I also have Amos's ancestors, back to Samuel Spencer Sunderland, born 14 April 1698. If you will send me your email address, I can send you more. I plan to publish an update of what information that I have in two or three months.

I am attaching a partial GEDCOM file which has Amos Baird Sunderlin and his descendents.

My email address is ted_rita@verizon.net

I am a direct descendant of Darwin’s Grandfather, Darwin Sunderlin. I am also a descendant of the Houck family. You stated that Henry Sunderlin was married to Eliza Houck. I have not seen that before but I have only been researching my ancestors for a few months. The Houck (Huyck) family is well documented but I don't have information on this Eliza Houck. Do you have any more information on her or her parents?

Thanks!
Martha Houck Jordan

Straightning out some names and Birthdates of the Sunderlin Family

I have come across some lineage of my line that needs updated for anyone doing the Sunderlin Hess Webster line. It is on Theodore Evans Sunderlins web page. Now before I go on I don't want to imbaress anyone. This web site is a wealth of information for the Sunderlin side. And I use it myself and has saved me hours of looking for my family. I just feel the need to get names and dates straight on some of us. For myself I am Kathleen Marie Harris My birthdate was wrong, but it is actually 08/23/1955. I come from the line of Amos Baird Sunderlin being my Great Grandfather, and Mary Olive Webster My Great Grandmother. Now for my Sisters birthdates Gloria Jean Harris(Mckinney) was born 01/01/45. not as stated, My other sister Judith Rae Harris(Hutchens) was born 10/10 46. My Fathers name was Leland RAY Harris (not roy) born 06/13/1923. He married my Mother Beverly Jean Harris on 03/12/44 in California..She was born a Curtis her parents being Lynn Hurst Curtis and Daisy Lucinda Dibble of South Dakota, and her birth date was 08/12/26. Now for my cousins that were also misprinted. My cousin Barbara Fern Merrit (Church) was the daughter of MarySunderlin and Roy Merrit. She married a Zane Duane Church. Her childrens names are Buckley Duane, Frederick Zane(not fredericka Jane), Gary Allan, Debra Sue (not delva) Cindy Lou(not Lindy) and Marilyn Rae. I don't have the birthdates for them in front of me but will print it shortly. Now since I am doing research on my Sunderlin side could anyone tell me if any other names or dates are incorrect? I want to make sure I say I am just correcting what I know to be correct and Really do appreciate all the worl Mr. Evans or his family has done and continue looking forward to reading more about the Sunderlins,Websters,Hess etc. Thankyou again everyone who has helped me search my line Kathy Harris

Ralph I am not sure if you are still looking for Rollo Clair Sunderlin or not. He was my Great Uncle, Brother to my Grandmother Edna Luella Sunderlin. I don't know how much I can help but my Cousin Barbara Church has a good recollection of this Sunderlin/Baird /Hess side. What she wrote for me about Rollo is that He committed suicide in Washington DC, and had married someone in Conneticut. His Father was My Great Grandfather Amos Baird Sunderlin and his Mother, my Great Grandmother was Mary Olive Webster. Barbara's Mother(Mary Rachel Sunderlin), was a Sister to Rollo(dode) and my GrandMother Edna. (Ted). Each and everyone of these siblings had nicknames. Anyway I hope this helps. I myself would like to find out who Rollo married and where they lived. Thanks and Good luck... Kathleen Harris

I'm trying to verifiy that my Jane Sunderlin b. 1843 and married to Elisha Harding of Breesport, NY was the dau. of Hansel and the granddaughter of Amos Sunderlin. If you have anything on this line I would appreciate a reply. Ginny

She was born 19 June 1793 in Dutchess County, NY, and she died 19 June 1863 in Sunderlinville, Potter County, PA. She was married to Joseph Sunderlin on 9 October 1811 in Dutchess County, NY. I have nothing on either of her parents or siblings. I have a good bit on her descendants. Contact me if you want more.

She married Daniel Sunderland on 5 July 1824 in Allen County, OH. She was born 2 March 1806 in Allen County, OH, and she died in 1838 in Michigan. I have much on her children, grandchildren, etc. My area of research is the Sunderland/Sunderlin line. I would really love to know what is the source of that information as I beleive it to be ture. Some Sunderlins contested a will of Levi Washburn who would have been Susan's brother.
I was recently sent a picture of a gravestone that says "Lucy,
wife of Joseph Sunderlin, born March 7, 1776, died Sept ??,
1827. She is buried in the Welch Hollow Cemetery, Ft. Ann,
Washington Co., New York and the grave is close to the Graves of Leonard and Lydia Baker, who were twins of Palmer and Eliza Baker my GGG Grandparents who migrated to McHenry Co., IL and are buried there. Palmer's wife's maiden name was also Sunderlin and are wondering if this Lucy Sunderlin is possibly Eliza's mother as the grave is also close to other Baker Graves. Palmer and Eliza also named their oldest daughter Lucy. Does anybody have any info concerning Lucy and Joseph Sunderlin. Thank You

Bonnie James

Rollo Clair Sunderlin was my Grandfather's brother. My grandfather was Allen Thomas Sunderlin. Their father was Amos Baird Sunderlin. My mother has always called Rollo "Uncle Dode" but I am not sure where the nickname came from. I thought this might be helpful to anyone doing research on this line. Have a nice day!
Cheryl

Hi, I'm not sure of Rex's birth place or siblings, but Pennsyvania sounds right. My Rex Sunderlin lived on a farm and was married to Virginia Walters from Ravena, Ohio. They had one son, William Conley Sunderlin, who passed away in approximatey 1965. His grandkids Sue, Cindy, Jean and Billy visited him at the farm with their father. Rex remarried and had other children, one named Robert. Does any of this sound familiar?

Ada was the daughter of Daniel and Mary. It goes Henry Sunderland, first Earl, Robert Spencer Sunderland, second earl, Jacob Sunderlin (who was born 1701 when Robert's wife was 55, so must be illegitimate, also notice the name change...looking into this one...the family info says Jacob came to America in 1740), Daniel Sunderlin 1733-1776, Daniel Sunderlin 1764, Joseph Sunderlin 1786, and then Daniel Sunderlin 1821 who married Mary Tuttle. They had Ada who married Howard Skinner.

Hello Rob, saw your message to Tom (whom I believe is my Uncle Tom in NY) ...anyway "Ada and Howard were married Dec. 31, 1895 at 6 pm at the residence of the bride's parents in Nora Springs Iowa with D. M. Packer officiating" There is more listed in the family records describing how wonderful they both were (great stuff) and then it goes on to say they went to New Hampton for a few days, then to Nora Springs for a month, and then to New York (York state) where Howard had prepared a home.
I'm so glad someone a long time ago decided to copy this information by hand from what looks like a newspaper article.
