I just now saw your post as well. I'm Timothy's eldest grandchild. Scott is my uncle. I'm William's daughter.
I would love some information on the family! Grandma (Susan) was able to make some copies of old documents and photos and that was wonderful. I've particularly been trying to trace the family back to Ireland to see where exactly they lived there and what they did, but I'm unable to find anything beyond the fact that they lived in County Tyrone.

I just noticed your post. I may have already contacted you and forgot. My Grandfather was Lester William Surgeon (Bill), your GGrandfathers brother. I have quite a bit of family info, that I could send you. I assume that Timothy is your grandfather. Is Scott your father or uncle? I worked on the construction or the Madras prison and run into Scott there. Timothy and I were acommplases at the Surgeon family reunions for many years.

My grandma's grandpa is John Alexander Surgeon. He was married to Olivia. They had children, one of which is my great grandfather, Lester W. Surgeon. He married Ruth Surgeon and they had my grandma Verna Elvira Surgeon. Anyone out there my relative?

My name's Brittny Surgeon and I'm 19. I live in Oregon where most of my family is from. My great grandfather was Lovell Orestes Surgeon and I think his father and his father's father were John Alexander Surgeon from Ireland. I don't know much about my family's history or decent and if you know anything at all, I would be so grateful if you would share whatever knowledge you may have. Hi! Yes I am Paul's cousin, & Tim's 2nd cousin. I do live in Florida. I thought that this link was out of use since the reply is just now appearing. But I am glad to hear from you.
What do you have on the Surgeon to 1787? I hope that it is not the John Surgeon as the parents of Andrew (b Ireland) and the father of Robert (b. 1850 VA/NJ), because that is NOT the correct father of Andrew. I have a copy of their marriage registration and it gives Andrew's father as William and his mother as Margaret. If you got the information from Bennie Phillips some of his information is incorrect.
I would love to see what you have. I have traced Andrew to his marriage in 1849 in NJ, but do not know when he arrived here only that he was born in Tyrone County in Northern Ireland and the date that is on his head stone in the McVey Cemetary in Fort Springs,WV. Paul was there with me once, as I showed him where it was located.
I also have some information on Grandma Virginia Burns Surgeon (Robert's wife) that is interesting, if you are interested. However, I do not have anything on the Stanley's side of the family. Sorry. My parents did however know "Mr. Stanley" Uncle Emmett's father.

Actually, you are my husband's (Paul Timothy Stanley, Jr.)'s 2nd cousin. Paul's son. You live in FL, correct? I have genealogy info. for Surgeons dating back to 1787, so thanks for replying about that. I am actually trying to get more info. on the Stanley family as I can't go back any further than Emmett Stanley, who married Lora Lynn Surgeon. Lora Mable Surgeon was my paternal aunt. I have a full line on the Surgeons back to 1849.
Paul Stanley is my first cousin. Are you any relation to the Emmett Stanley, Sr. family?

I reviewed your Surgeon webpage. You have My GGrandfather John Alexander Surgeon born 1861, with brothers William H, and Andrew, both born in the 1820's. His brother William H. was born in 1859, and his brother Joseph was born in 1860. There mother was Mary (Polly) Haines. She later married an Eye, after John Surgeon was killed fighting for the South, at Frazier's Farm in 1862. They are shown on the 1870 Green brier census records as living with a head of household named Eye.

I have a pedigree chart on the rootsweb site showing those connections.

madisons parents(unknown) had a land grant farm were the capital now stands.
madison was born in new jersey on nov. 27 th 1832.
james is madisons son james was one of 14 children.

Surgeon I'm not sure of his decent I know from storys that his family came over
on the wagon train and the family name is on a history marker here in

Seeking ancestors of the Samuel Surgeon family. He was born on March 15, 1894 in West Virgina and married Icie May Whitney on 18 Jan., 1914.
In the 1920 census for Nicholas co., W.Va. It shows children Hallie,Hattie and Lucille. Family records list 2 more children Charles and MaryLou.

Whitney family records also state Icie May Whitney Surgeon
died in 1968 in Baltimore,Md.

John Surgeon, Andersonville Prison

I have heard rumor that there was a John Surgeon that died at Andersonville Prison during the Civil War, but have not been able to confirm. Does anyone have any further info?
