Hi,

Thought I'd clear up something about Minnie B. (Woodward) Swallow. She is my great-great grandmother. Her husband was Charles Swallow. The confusion lies in the fact that William also married a woman named Minnie. I believe that she went by Minnie A.

I am interested in learning more about this Swallow line as I have just started tracing it. What I have shows that Charles Swallow's parents are John W. and Mary (Fantz) Swallow and John W. Swallow's parents are George and Elizabeth Swallow. That's all I have. I have George with a birth date around 1818 in Ohio. Does this match other people?

Matthew and Ellen Swallow were my great-great-grandparents. Their grandson, Edward Matthew Richard Swallow, was my mother's father. It was interesting to learn Ellen's maiden name.
There was another Norfolk connection, as Matthew and Ellen's son, Edward, married Annie Reynolds (born in Lessingham, Norfolk) and they had a farm in Hickling, Norfolk according to the 1881 census. However, after that they moved down to London (my grandfather was born in Brixton) and it seems that they split up, with Annie returning to Norfolk.
I am curious to know why Ellen Newhouse came down to Surrey.

William Hayden Swallow

I am trying to find information on one of my relatives. His name was William Hayden/Haydon Swallow, born May 9, 1873 in Ohio. His mother's name was Charlotte, born abt Feb 1834 in England. Family rumor is that she left her home in England to come to America (she came from a well to do family) either alone or with a brother. She was the housekeeper to a man named Swallow who was a doctor. They had an affair and she had William. They kinda just appear in the 1880 census, saying that she is a widow with the last name of Swallow.
Does any one know of any connection to this family? Her last name was prolly Hayden/Haydon. Thanks.
I can be emailed at howm00100@hotmail.com

Meghan

Sorry I did not reply for so long. First, my mother died, the next year my aunt and then my father. They all suffered from Lung Cancer. I just couldn't do much family history. My dad died and we had the memorial service last Tuesday the 24th. He really wanted to see some of his old navy buddies before he passed on, like Charles Swallow. Is your grandad the same guy? Just wondering!

Glad to see some of my kin is coming forward and posting. My line to Young is George Edward> William Edward> Jacob J> Young J.

My Jacob and your Felix were brothers. I belive I have the same photo of Young and the boys but would be interested in any others you might be willing to share along with any other information you might have. I am willing to share my line as well.

Would like to ask if any male SWALLOWS would be interested in doing a DNA family tree. I know most of us believe we are decendent from Andrew SWALLOWS from Overton County TN and I think the only way of proving that is though DNA. Trick is it has to be a male decendent. Anyway just throwing that thought out to ALL SWALLOWS men.

Looking forward to hearing back from anyone.

Debbie SWALLOWS Lowman
McLeansboro IL

I am chasing more information on Walter Swallow, who was born in Hertfordshire in 1881, went to New York in 1904, must have returned at some point because he went again in 1907, this time with his wife Ellen. He was followed to New York by his brother Frank (who was single when he went in 1912) and his sister Julia (she went in 1913 and was also single). I can trace them back quite a way, but can't trace the family past their arrival except for one census record. Any help gratefully received!

Trying to trace and confirm Swallow back from Herbert Swallow born 1881 died 1951. 3 sons.. William (my father), Sidney and Roberts died RAF 1943. I seem to get back to William dob approx 1845 and wife Mary(Polly). They MAY go back to George Swallow dob approx 1816 and his wife Isabella dob approx 1812.
I am not sure if this timeline holds up or any of the detail on births deaths etc.
Any help or information would be great.
Thanks Dave

What information do you need regarding the Swallow family? I knew Anne Swallow years ago, she may have died as she would now be in her 90s, and had moved from the Swan inn aka the Top House to Austerlands a few years ago. I may be able to contact Derek Swallow too.
