Hi Dick,
Read your post. Could you possibly share your 1930 Genealogy of the SWANN's & LEWIS' of AK? (email below) Love to see how it matches with mine.
My SWANZY/SWANN is Mary A. (Polly) SWANZY (1810-1880) +m. Humphrie JEMISON (1810-1884).
Their daughter was L. Mary Carrie JEMISON (16 DEC 1884 LA Bienville Parish - 1904 Ruston, LA, Lincoln Parish) ; she +m. Andrew Jackson TAYLOR (b. 1845 GA - d.Ruston, LA,Lincoln Parish )<<< He signed up for CIVIL WAR in Lauratown, AR with Col. Robert Glen Shaver in 1862.
Does your data show any JEMISON's with your SWANN's or any Land Grants/surveys showing they were neighbors?
My L.M.Carrie JEMISON was born in LA & is buried there in Ruston, LA, Lincoln Parish Cooktown Cemetery.
Did her mother's-SWANN's/SWANZY - side follow or stay in GA>AR>LA ??
Carrie's parents migrated to LA apparently since she was born there;
AJ TAYLOR,her husband ,was b.1845 in GA; does this mean the SWANN's were met there, were neighbors, family friends, or on the migration route? This is my SWANN/SWANZY puzzle. Any help anyone??
Again can you share your SWANN & LEWIS AR Genealogy? I'll be more than happy to share my findings. barbiedoll8086@hotmail.com

Forgot to say Oregon Swans also link in, I've about 30 names for that line too which I will add on at the appropriate connection point...this is also a very round about line as they crossed the Atlantic a few times!! (Probably collecting air miles!!)..... It will make a good board game.... "Swanopoly"!!

Sent you a family chart of about 50 members of the Swan/Swann clan which hopefully will link across to the other 50 or so Swans.

They were a big clan!!

You will see they connect to New York, Buffalo, Nevada, San Francisco,.... which then lines them up to linking to Santa Ana, this then further connects to Ontario, then back to Ireland where the 2 lines further connect.

I'm working on one particular one that returned to Ireland and his son's marriages here, these connect to the same family here a few time by marriages between the 2 families over the generations!

I need to do a bit more research in Monaghan and will get back to you shortly....

Hi Jack,
I have a RICHARDSON "cousin" who published a book on our RICHARDSON ancestors. He is on vacation & when he returns end of Oct. is going to call me. I will discuss your THOMAS JEFFERSON RICHARDSON with him & let you know what data he has in VA. & hopefully some good news. Reason I am hopeful is that my 2xgrgrandmother wasAMANDA IRENE RICHARDSON b. 1856 to "WILLIS" WILLIAM WILDER. AMANDA("RENIE") was d/o WOOTEN RICHARDSON. He migrated to North Louisiana, LINCOLN PARISH, and help founded the town of RUSTON...owned the land the town is now on. I also have a POLLY SWANZY/SWANN in my line; don't have my charts with me right now to give you any further data. But, the two names, both on my line also may mean we have a connection somewhere. Have you any WOOTEN's in that area? Will get back with you after talk to my cousin. Oh, my AMANDA IRENE RICHARDSON & WILLIS WILLIAM WILDER, had a daughter, MARY LOU WILDER, who married my great grandfather, CHARLIE TAYLOR,s/o ANDRE JACKSON TAYLOR, and their son, WILLIS HOPKINS TAYLOR, my grandfather, m. LELIA HAZEL COLVIN, d/o HAZEL PETRIE COLVIN & LOU ELLA AUTREY, HAZEL & WILLIS's son/my dad, WILLIS HAYES TAYLOR, & then me...BARBARA LOU. WOOTEN RICHARDSON , the WILDER'S, ABSALOM AUTREY , &A.J. TAYLOR were the immigrants to LA. It appears they arrived in LA between 1848- 1860. Will get back with you.
Augustas Swann is the name of some of my ggfathers, more than one. But I dont know if theres a connection. Im new to this, I just had the benifit of some paper trees done by relatives. My mothers fathers father was named Agustas, and his grandfather, etc. Our tree goes all the way back to 300 A.D. to Augustas of Rome. Feel free to view my tree and compare notes. I do know that the name was passed down many generations, so there may be several distant Augustas Swanns that are cousins.

Hi Nancy, I was bored at work playing around on the internet and typed my step fathers name into google only to find that you are looking for information. I believe we are talking about the same guy. My mother married your dad in the early 70's and I always knew he had a daughter named Nancy, a son named Garland Jr and I believe another son name James. I was under the impression that you were all from the Slaughter area. And I believe your mothers name is Dorris. If I'm on the right track let me know. I think I am because you mentioned his father was killed in Oregon. My email is kwmrinsulation@gmail.com if I can be of any assistance.
Dear Jean
I am so glad to hear from you. The birth you mention of James in 1794 is a possibility for my 3 times gt grandfather. I hadn't considered Liverpool before.

Is your Charles Douglas Swann the one living at 66A Bridge St in 1861? If so, both he and my gt, gr grandad Robert Swann had large families in common as well as living in Hulme. In 1873 my gt gt grandad Joseph was born at 20 Bridge St.

On my Robert Swann marriage cert in 1856, the profession of his father James, was a Mason.

From the IGI, I have a possible baptism for my 2 times gt grandfather Robert (spelt with one N) on 20 May 1832 at Manchester Cathedral. Father was James and mother was Mary. He might have had a brother Joseph (spelt with one N) also baptised at Manchester Cathedral on 12 Jan 1834. I have no way of connecting these births to my family.

Also from the IGI I have a James Swann (2Ns) baptised 19 Feb 1804 in Manchester cathedral. But no sign of him on the 1841 or 1851 Censuses.

With so little to go on, it is great to meet someone who is looking at the same name in the North West of England - even if we can't find a connection.

I have a memory of my father taking us to visit a relation at a farm which I seem to remember being at New Mills. None of my family remembers it though.

I would be interested in knowing more about Thomas, his siblings and children, if that's OK with you. I can let you have my email address if thats easier for you.

I look forward to hearing from you.
With best wishes
Jeannie

Joseph Swann (born 3 Jan 1873)

Can anyone help please. My Grandfather Joseph Swann was born in Chorlton on Medlock, Manchester but I can't find him on the 1901 census. I have tracked him in 1881 and 1891 when he was living with his family in the All Saints Ward of C on M. But after 1891 the children all went their separate ways. He reappears in 1909 with a wife Ann(nee Wilson) on the birth of their first son Albert and and is consistently around until his death in 1942 aged 69.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jeannie

Hi Amy
I know your post is old but I have just started on my Swann family in Manchester. My gr.gr. grandfather was Robert Swann born around 1832 but I dont know where. I have confirmed that he was in Manchester by 1856 and I think he may have been living in Marple in Stockport aged 9, with a sister Ann Swann in 1841. His father Was James Swann who may have been born around the same time as your Sarah. I wondered if any of these names had come up in your search?
Jeannie

Hi Jane
If any of your ancestors moved to Manchester then I may be of some help. I have a gr. gr. grandfather Robert Swann born about 1832 who was in Manchester by 1856 when he married Sarah Ann Bowman. I have all his descendants to the present day.

His father was James Swann who was a Mason by trade but James doesn't appear in Manchester or the surrounding areas. I wondered if you might have a James Swann working as a Mason in Cambridgeshire during the first half of the 1800's. Sorry I don't know his age.

Please contact me if you think there may be a link.
Jeannie
After a load of research on Swann (my mother's paternal side of the family) clear back to the 1700's I have learned that there are a number of African American's Named (Swan) one letter N in the name. Example my great great grandfathers brother was Thomas Swann born 02/03/1809 in Virginia he became Mayor of Baltimore and Governor of Maryland, Died 07/24/1883 back in Virginia. Google him you can read about him if you would like. He owned slaves in the mid 1800's. In fact I learned they took his surname but the spelling was Swan one letter N. You might find that to be the case with your name changing with generations and over time. I have also learned that to be the case with the Iris side of the family when coming form Ireland it seems they changes that surname was well from Bleany to Blaney. Good luck with your search.

RE; I have corresponded with a person researching this line. I have the line that they gave me back to Richard Swann of Ireland. I will be glad to share that with anyone who wants it. Of course, I cannot guarantee the accuracy of the line. I also research a Joseph B. My ggg g/father Joseph is the son of William.(The Dudgeons are well documented in Ontario.)

30th May 1883 Joseph Swann son of William Swann of Killygrallan,Tedavnet Parish, m. He is listed as the son of James Swann and Margaret Moore. Robert's wife is said to have been Catherine Chambers, and their marriage in 1827.
*
Marriage announcement March 16th 1866*
Swann & Wright, 6th March at Lisknaskea Church, Joseph Swann Esq, Clones, *_son of Robert_* Swann Esq, Dromore County Monaghan, to Isabella second daughter of David Wright Esq, of Lisknaskea.

*
Marriage Announcement February 24th 1869*
Swann & Boyd, 18th February at Clontubret Church, William Swann Esq, *_second son of Robert_* Swann Esq, of Dromore Lodge, County Monaghan,to Dora, fourth daughter of Stuart Boyd Esq, Clontubret, County Monaghan.

Related to Swanns of Warrenpoint!

Belfast Thursday July 25th 1867 Death announcement;

Swann, July 23rd 1857 at the residence of his Son In Law Mr James Swann of Warrenpoint, (I.E.
