The ages of the children were at the 1850 census, I added notes from other family information as to future marriages. The family seems to have moved from PA to NY and then back to PA.
The children were born in both states. I believe Maria was born in New York and DM ALexander was from Vermont. The family in the next generation moves west.

I found them on the 1850 and 1860 census living in Pennsylvania, in 1860 they had male Swartouts helping on the farm. I have family records showing Maria as a daughter of James and Hannah married in 1811, but on line the same James seems to have married Catherine. So perhaps Hannah is incorrect.

BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP CO BRADFORD AUG 1850

DM ALEXANDER FARMER BORN IN VT AGE 40 BORN 1810

MARIA AGE 38 NY BORN 23 FEB 1812

MARRIED 15 FEB 1832

JULIA AGE 15 PA MARRIED BB WILCOX
PERRY (JAMES) AGE 13 NY
JEANNETT F AGE 12
MARY AGE 10 MARRIES H HUNTLEY
ELIZABETH (BECOMES CLARKE) AGE 7 BORN PA
EUGENE AGE 5 PA
CELIA AGE 3
MAHLON AGE 1 M

JACKSON STEVENS 16 FARMER

DeMarcus Alexander or DM is what they census and geneology records say, his grandson was name John Marcus Clarke after that name.

I have Maria Swartwout (or Swartout) born 23 Feb 1812 married to DM Alexander 15 Feb 1832.

Any help?

Not my family, but I have a copy of The Swartwood Sojourn II by Robert E. Swartwood (2001). Very little information about Lillian M. Parsons who married Floyd Swartwood; just that Floyd was born 22 Jan 1894 at Tioga [County??], Pa. and married Lillian in the same place on 16 March 1915. She was born about 1895 in Pa. and she died on 5 July 1930. Floyd later married on 6 Nov. 1943 to Alma M. Houghtling [sic] at Erie [County??], Pa. No death date for Floyd. Perhaps Lillian's death date is the best info this book can offer you.

Floyd and Lillian had 2 children: Florence Swartwood, born about 1915, no other info. Charles R. Swartwood, born 9 March 1920 at Sabinsville, Tioga, Pa. He married Alice Brubaker on 18 Oct 1944. They later divorced and he married Dorothy M. Vogt on 11 April 1953 in Erie [County??]. Charles died Feb 1981 in Buffalo, Erie, Pa.

Charles R. Swartwood and his first wife Alice had one child, Charles R. Swartwood, Jr. born 25 Dec 1944. He married in 1967 but they later divorced and there is no info as to whether Charles Jr. had any children.

I'm looking for relations of David Nathaniel Swartwood. He was a sailor during WWII and listed his hometown as Flint, Michigan. He also entered service from MI. He was aboard the sub the USS Grunion when she disappeared on it's maiden voyage in the Aleutians. It was last heard from in July 1942. the families weren't notified for about 2 months (for my own ancestor on the sub it came out in the papers on Sept 30 and Oct 1, 1942). Apparently they weren't declared dead until Aug 2, 1943. 70 men died on the submarine and nothing was ever known of it's possible fate until recently. Now a search will soon be underway to find it by the sons of the commander. I heard from them 2 weeks ago and have joined the search underway to see if I can find others related to the sailors who died as I think it is exciting! I would also appreciate any leads on relatives of this man.

I have a copy of "The Swartwood Sojourn II" by Robert E. Swartwood (2001) and have identified this C.E. Swartwood as Cyrus Edward Swartwood on page 212. He was the son of Floyd Johnson Swartwood and Christena Irene Fannan and was born 12 January 1859 in New Milford, Winnebago County Iowa. He married (1) Ella Connell on 23 April 1881 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. They had one child who died in infancy. Ella (who was b. about 1861) died 23 April 1882 in Akron, Summit Co., Ohio. "Ed" married (2) Anna Knether about 1890. She was born December 1864 in Pennsylvania. They had two children, Helen born 28 October 1894 and Edward George, born 20 November 1895.
"Ed" Swartwood played outfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1892. He was 5'11" tall and weighed 198 pounds, threw right-handed and batted left-handed according to a website.
I was reading The Morning Times newspaper (Cripple Creek, Colorado) online for the date of Dec.3, 1895. I saw the folowing article on the first page under the heading "Personal":
C.E. Swartwood of Pittsburgh, PA., is here to look after his interests in the Fairview Golf Mining company. Mr Swartwood has changed his occupation from playing on the diamond (for he was at one time one of the popular members of the Pittsburgh team) to operating of mines at Cripple Creek with the intention of wearing diamonds.

http://www.coloradohistoricnewspapers.org/Archive/Skins/CHNC...

My Swartwood family seems to be devided on the spelling of our name,The farther back I go I find more of our family buried as Swo . My husbands grandfather Robert Benjamin spelled his name Swo and so did one of his sons. The other two sons spell thier name Swa. My Uncle Lee Swortwood is the oldest son and was not to happy when his fathers stone was written as Swa. Alot of this family is buried in Mountain Church cemetery in Horton Township Elk County,P.a also Tioga County and Sheffield. All from same family but with both spelling's of the last name. So I see it as very possible these are the same family.

Hello Cousin!
Do you have any information on Daniel Swartwood (1847-1918) or his ancestors? He was Fred's father.
Here are two articles my Grandmother saved about the accident that killed Fred Swartwood. Both clippings were undated, but I have Fred's death as January 6th, 1958. RIP:

Man Killed, Wife Hurt
BIG RAPIDS (AP) Fred L. Swartwood, 70, of Rte. 1 Stanwood, was killed Monday and his wife, Lucille, was injured in a car-truck crash on U.S. 131 about two miles south of Big Rapids. Police said Swartwood’s car skidded out of control into the path of the truck.

Wife Injured
Swartwood was killed and his wife, Lucille, critically injured when their car collided with a truck on US-131, about two miles south of Big Rapids.
Mrs. Swartwood is in Big Rapids Community Hospital.
Witnesses told State Police that Swartwood’s car skidded out of control on a patch of ice and into a truck driven by Ora Pratt, of Reed City. Pratt escaped injury.

From a scrap book of clippings collected by Lora D. Gaffney, nee Leonard
Transcribed by Ann La Marche
