PIONEER RESIDENT OF BERGHOLTZ IS DEAD
Daniel Sy, eighty-one years old died at his home in Bergholtz, town of Wheatfield, this morning. He suffered a stroke of paralysis recently for the third time in the past sixteen years. Born in Germany, Mr. Sy located in Bergholtz when only seven years old and spent the rest of his life there. He was actively identified with the Democratic party in the town of Wheatfield and held the offices of justice of the peace, supervisor, and appraiser.
When he was a young man it was necessary to go Buffalo for food for the settlement where he lived and Mr. Sy often made the trip for the residents.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Supervisor August Sy of Bergholtz; three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Williams of LaSalle, and Mrs. Henry Urtel and Mrs, August Miller, of Bergholtz, and sever grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the late home and half an hour later Holy Ghost church in Bergholtz. Rev. A. A. Stark officiating. Burial will be the Holy Ghost cemetery.
