Hi Linzi,

as well as everyone else on here I am also tracing the SYCAMORE line.

I have your g. grandmother in my tree as b.1877 (obviously a mistake!)to Reubin and Maria Braybrook Thompson.
Which means our trees are linked at John 1801 & Hannah Carter.
My tree then runs down from Job 1829 & Jane Hurley to
John 1872 & Mary Ann Donovan to my grandmother
Margaret Mary SYCAMORE with my father being John STONE.

You may be interested to know that the family continues to reuinte twice a year in Kent (descendants of John & Mary Ann) and I am trying to provide my father with as much ancestral information to take to the first of these reunions later in May.

If you can provide more details I'd be delighted and perhaps I can assist with your tree also.

kind regards

Liz Stone

Hi,
I have a William Sycamore born 1801 in Lamarsh, Essex. I believe he was married to Charlotte Cant (b 1813, Wormingford, Essex). I have 11 children attributed to them, including Samuel as the youngest (b. 1855 in Lamarsh) and married to Mary Plant. I believe Charlotte was William's second wife. His first was Mary Cangle. She died in 1823, in Lamarsh.
I got all this info from someone else, so can not ensure its accuracy.

Hi
Thanks for replying
I am a bit confused - dosnt take a lot!
I do have a Mary Plant but she was born 31/12/1853. She married Samuel Sycamore b 5/2/1855. They married 7/4/1882. Samuel was my Great Granduncle x 2. His father William b 1801 Lamarsh and Charlotte Cant b1813 were my Great Grandparents x 3. They married 22/11/1831. I will see where Kenneth Sycamore fits in to my tree and get back to you
Hope all above makes sense, any other info you need - may be able to help
Jan

I too have information on Sycamore's from the (mainly) Halstead/Earls Colne area. Some of the family ventured just across the border into Sudbury and Long Melford in Suffolk - also small links into Norfolk, London, and Northamptonshire. Am one of approximately 1200 descendents from one young man who "travelled the seas" and ended up living in New Zealand.

None are anywhere near Saddleworth.
Several Mary SYCAMORE, but all married and living with husbands in Essex, Surrey and Norfolk, except a 64 year old widow in Cumbria and a 3 year old girl.
Let me know if you need any more information about these entries.
Hugh Smith
Would be grateful for any information on William Sycamore married to Lavina Gartside. William's parents were Samuel Sycamore (Brick Setter) and Mary Sycamore (formerly Plant). Ironically, we do not know William's birth or marriage details but they both came from Saddleworth. We do know William had at least one brother, Ernest, born 16.1.1883 in Shaws Lane, Saddleworth. We think William spent some time in America and he served in the Spanish Civil War. He also worked as a Brick Burner in Saddleworth and later owned a brick works in Birkenhead where he died in 1962.

Hi, I'm trying to research my husband's family. His grandfather was William Sycamore married to Lavina Gartside. They had two children (we think!) Lorna (my husband's Mum) and Mary. We know William had at least one brother, Ernest, born 316.1.1883 in Shaws Lane, Saddleworth R.S.D. but ironically, we can't trace William's birth or marriage details! (Any help would be appreciated!)
We know their parents were Samuel Sycamore married to Mary Sycamore (formerly Plant). Samuel was a Brick Setter which ties in with William's occupation of Brick Burner. However, we seem to think William lived in America for awhile, but don't have much else to go on! Hope this helps.
