Hi Camille,

What a wonderful offer. In going through my grandmother's things, while visiting my parents over Thanksgiving, I came across a couple of pictures of Ac (Acquaviva). It brought back some fond memories of Ac and Jack Cregg along with John and Maureen.

From 1944 until 1958, when we lived in Chicago, we used to go back to Watertown, NY and Smith Falls for two weeks each year for vacation. We always visited Art and Marie, Martina and Stan. Unfortunately, we moved to the west coast in 1958 and fell out of touch.

Thanks again,

Kathy

Kathy,

Wow you lived in Chicago! That's where my husband and I now live. Margaret's birthplace is Iceland and her parents are John STUART and Margaret (unreadable - possibly SORENSEN). She was 21. They were married at St. Mary's Church by Father Ouelette. He was Catholic, she was Protestant.
His occupation listed was hotel keeper. I would appreciate any information anyone else has to offer.
Hi Pat, Theophile Sylvain was my great grandfather (from 2nd marriage to Marie Cameron). Harvey was my grandfather. Have you found any more details about Theophile's ancestry? I'm beginning to search too. My mother gave me some details about the Theophile/Emery line so your husband's grandfather has to be Joseph, Gaspard or Ernest. I don't have any more details about them. Would you be willing to send me details about your husbands branch? I know my mother would be interested to learn about her relatives.
Giralda Silver (Sylvain) from upstate New York

I am trying to find any relatives or descendants of Giralda Silver (Sylvain) who was the daughter of Morim 'Buck' Silver (Sylvain) and Laura Foucrault. Morim and Laura were married in 1909 at St. Edmond's Church in Ellenburg Corners, New York. It is believed Laura died before 1920 and that Morim remarried.

Giralda is believed to have married someone by the last name of Green and had at least two children, Lester and Laura. They could have lived in Mississippi as a family.

Any information can be e-mailed to jbsmokey@aol.com.

As far as I have gone back sideways I have
not found any connection. Primarily cuz the
original families were not same. Veau
Duplais were original surnames Sylvain was
a "dit" (we say also known as). I believe
that among the Quebec pioneer families
the Larosee line were the only "true" Sylvains. Some have kept the dit name (Larosee) not to be confused with Larose.
The first Quebec Veau, Viau, etc. was
Sylvain Veau. If you have your line to before
1900 I may have a connection for you.
Happy hunting- it's very interesting.

Don Sylvain

While searching for my Fathers family tree, I came across a gravestone in Gonic, New Hampshire with the name Delia Sylvain. The dates on it seem to be around the time you are looking for. I know that my Dads family was from Canada, and that his father Alfred Sylvain was one of a very large family (17 children I think!!) I am searching for info about his family, since he lost touch with his father at the age of 8.
I hope this information helps you.

Don,
I have been trying to research some information on my fathers family. His fathers name was Alfred Sylvain and lived in Gonic, New Hampshire.(He was one of 17 children! ) My Dad is now in his 70's, and I believe his father was born in New Hampshire in the late 1800's or early 1900's. His father left when he was 8 years old and never knew what became of him. Not too long ago, I visited a graveyard in Gonic and found several gravestones with the Sylvain name, other names on the stones included Gagne, and Routhier. I believe that his relatives were in the fur trade in Canada.
I hope this information is of help.
