My relative William was born in Somerset in 1646 and died in New Kent Co. VA in 1726. His father was Thomas Symes born in 1605 and died in 1667. He lived in England all his life. My records show that the spelling of William's name was Sims - the first documentation I have of this. Can anyone tell me why this changed and when the change took place. Thank you - Robin
