dear Debbie,

I believe we are cousins. my Grandmother was sarahJane sypher. She had a brother elwood born1874-1945. he moved to chester Conn. with his brother Frank. Elwood had 5 children-
Ellie, Etta, Howard, Kenneth and ruth. Are you one of Kenneths children? I believe he had about 8. My grandmother was married to Charle Koenig of the Bronx. His children were charles (My father) and Ilamay. For being German -the sypher family (Who I am researching) go back to germany 1700's tHE Wright family (Rachel Wright married William Sypher) are english and am trying very hard to research their connection. Rachel and william Sypher would be your great grandparents and they are from the Mt. Kisco,N.Y. area
Would really like to here from you. Just found your query tonight while searching for syphers. I do know my family of Syphers are from Chester , conn. visited aunt etta and ruthie when I was a kid.

I have some information on the Sypher family. I am descended from Peter's brother, Abraham. Abraham's son, Jacob, also settled in White Deer Township, Union Co. and was active in local politics there. The family was in East Vincent Township, Chester Co., PA, before and shortly after the Revolution. Sometime around 1800, Abraham went to Perry County, PA. Would be interested in exchanging more info.

Tricia you stated you have apparently seen Rufus Bible?
A letter was sent to me of late from another one of John Sypher/Cypher descendants in which was stated:
Rufus Bible listed Peter Sypher's death 1890.

John SYPHER/CYPHER [you see here both spellings for in the book of Hadley, Michigan it was listed John Cypher
it was a scanned copy of those receiving pensions and he of course from the War of 1812] (Most likely the name was spelled either way by a person on hearing the name)
My Mary Sypher was also spelled as Cypher and Sypher in her husband Joseph Cummings Bible.
I believe it was also spelled that way in papers received from the Goverment for Pension of Joseph Cummings who married Mary Sypher, daughter of Peter Sypher. At that time he did not sign his name but with an X; the letter was in favor of Joseph receiving a Civil War Pension.
John Cypher was also spelling given in Brock, Canada 1842 when he married Mary Salmond.
Peter Sypher married Esther Salmond.
Peter I have a feeling may have been an older brother of Rufus and the son of John Cypher/Sypher.
Do you have the other information from Rufus Bible for perhaps somewhere will be the puzzle piece I need to help prove he was. At this time have only year of his death and need month and day if possible. Also other names for deaths that do not seem to be Rufus children.
Contact me at EElspeth@aol.com by email.
Re: Sypher, Bluddo, Salmond, Fowler

Have been working recently on the line of John Sypher and Rachael Bluddo, and their son Rufus Sypher who married Rebecca Fowler.

The death date of 12 March 1894 for John is supported by both the family bible of Rufus and Rebecca SYPHER and John SYPHER's death certificate. John's death is recorded in the bible, although his birth is not. (I have copies of these.) There is a conflict regarding his age at the time of his death, however. The family bible states he was "103 yrs & 8 mo.", while his death certificate states he was '97 years, 8 months and 18 days." Cause of death was given as "old age". The informant's name is not stated on the death certificate. Does anyone have documentation for a birthdate of 8 July 1797 which I have seen posted by a researcher as his birth date?

Would like to exchange information with anyone working on this specific line.

Patricia

Hi Debbie. The Germany, NY, CT sounds promising as it is the same as mine. Send me the simple list of names you have as far back as you can, and I will compare them with my DB. I go back to a Jacob Sypher b. 1791, place unknown except the family story is Germany.

What genealogy program do you use? I use FTM. If you have a program that will accept a gedcom file (most do) then I could make a gedcom of my Sypher data and attach it to an e-mail to you.

When you send me the ancestor chart, send a duplicate to John Sypher at sypherjr@cfw.com .

He is actively working on Syphers too and We correspond a lot. We have not proven a link to each other yet, but if your info doesn't fit mine, maybe it will fit his. Glad to hear from you, Regard, Carl P. Cardey
