my grandmother (mary lasek) and her sisters(kataryzna, helen, teresa and agnieska Lasek) came from mackowka galicia in early 1900's. they all settled down in jersey city, nj and new york city. also, a joseph kuras came here with them from mackowka, according to immigration documents. since your family came from them i am wondering if they all knew each other. from what i remember she said that they had a large family of sisters and brothers. all were raised as roman catholics.

chester jarosz

Our family line ties into the Jamrosz surname in the Galicia area early 1800's. Katarzyna Bratkowski (Bratek) was born 1825 in Rakszawa (Rzeszow area), her parents were Tomasz Bratkowski and Katarzyna Jamrosz. Katarzyna Jamrosz was the daughter of Franciszek Jamrosz.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
Because of the different times our relatives were born, there also could be a possible change of being born in different towns. Please keep me informed if you have any more information, I will do the same.
May I ask what your grandfather's first name is?
Were there any relatives of yours listed on the list that I emailed you?
Dorothy Walters

Dorothy,we have communicated before but your newest info makes me think we have a connection. My grandm. Josepha Drozdowska her parents Josef Drozdowski and Agnieszka SZCZEPAN. My grandf. Andrzej Przewrocki his parents Jan Przewrocki and Katarzina Rojek. grandparents Marcin Przewrocki and Reginy Krol and Marcin Rojek and Agnieszka JAMROZY. My mother was baptized in Mackowka, Other villages noted on documents; Olchowa and Zurawiczki. All of these are within a few km. of each other in Galicia near Przeworsk.Let me know if you have dates etc. I do have more and continue to search. A new found cousin on the other side of my family that lives in Poland is helping me--makes a HUGE difference in the documents you can get. Regards Joan

as far as i know my surname is jarosz. my grandfather came from rozniatow, austria in 1913. my grandmother and her sisters all came from mackowka, austria between the years of 1906 to 1914. as far as i know my grandmother maiden name was lasek. my grandfather's name on his immigration papers was jarosz. also, on ellis island records one of two of her sisters refer to mackowka as "markowska". apparently rozniatow, austria was about 90 percent jewish and he was one of the few poles that lived there. i was raised roman catholic in jersey city, nj.

chester jarosz

Thank you somuch for your input. I never could get the info from Adelphiforums. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. It is probably true that our families knew each other--My family settled in Erie, Pa. I know that My Grandma Drozdowska had a sister in Trenton N.J. but am having a problem finding much concrete info. I think she married a man named Stan Pazdan and lived across the street from St. Stanislaw RC church. Are you in NJ? I am in Dallas. If you learn anything in your search about the Drozdowski, Szczepan or Przewrocki families contact me again. Joan

my grandmother (mary lasek maidern name) came from the same village to the usa in 1906 and settled in jersey city, nj. her sisters also followed. helen lasek, teresa lasek in 1914 and kataryzna lasek in 1909. they probaly knew your mother's family. . i understand that this village is still in existence and there are about 8 or 9 families still leaving there. their papers state that they came from this town which was in galicia, austria. i found this out from ellis island records.
i found out about the town from www.delphiforums.com or org, "central and eastern european culture". they have a polish section and i asked about the town and told them to respond in english.

chester jarosz
