My great-great grandmother's name was Ersebet Szilagyi Bertalan. She was born around 1853 in Hungary and came to the US from Ecser,Erkeseru (Kiskereki on the ship manifest) Hungary,in 1913 with her daughter Eszter Bertalan Politzer and her grandson (my grandfather) Imre Bertalan. Her husband had been named Zsigmond Bertalan but upon her arrival in 1913 she was a widow. She lived with her son in Morgantown, WV until sometime after his death in 1935. I've just found her on the 1940 as a resident in the Hungary Baptist Old Folks Home in Watervleit, Michigan where she was sent to live by her daughter-in-law we suspect until she died there in 1947. We have no record of what happen to her daughter (Eszter Politzer) after the arrival in 1913, and can only wonder if there was perhaps family in the Michigan area and that is why she was sent to live there.
On Elizabeth Bertalan's (Ersebet Szilagyi Bertalan) 1947 Michigan death record, her parents are listed as Teme Szilagyi and Elizabeth Cauka.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
