Tony,
I'm thrilled to death to meet any relative of mine through Coutzie. I will email you directly, but should anyone search for her name on this site, I believe I speak for everyone in my family who knew and loved Coutzie, that she was the most amazing woman I ever knew or will ever know. I have ten thousand stories to tell, and I'm fortunate enough to be the repository of dozens of the original photos of her and my grandfather Ed Taber, as well as both their parents. Coutzie's mom was the original feminist, after her husband died a heroic death, she ran a grocery store in Butte Montana, had the first telephone in the state (as family lore tells us) and raised not only her kids but a bunch of other waifs as well. Coutzie did the same. I guarantee that at least a half a dozen grown men will attest to the fact that Coutzie raised them in her house with my dad and his two brothers as well.
She was a terrific golfer, she was a 300 bowler, she was a life master at bridge, and just about the best storyteller that ever lived. I'm a writer by trade, and I thank my grandmother Bridget Emma Fogarty/Taber for that gift.
Tony, expect a personal email from me following this post.
Dear Colleen, As I had earlier posted a response to your posting, my wife is a direct descendent of the FOGARTY line in MT. I am very interested in communicating with you since I have a number of questions that need answering about Coutzie. You can contact me at tonykon@hotmail.com Sincerely, Tony

Dear Colleen, My wife is Catherine Jo BRIGGS. Her maternal grandmother is Honora FOGARTY, a sister to Coutzie's father, Matthew. We live in Butte, MT. Honora married Patrick LYNCH in Butte, MT and they had 4 daughters, one of which was Nora LYNCH. Nora LYNCH married Stacey Ivan BRIGGS and they had 2 daughters, Jean and my wife Catherine (she goes by Kay). Kay & I are now both retired. I have been doing almost all of the genealogy research since Kay doesn't have much interest in the computers. As you can tell from my query, I had some contact with your uncle years ago. I have been doing genealogy for about 30 yrs now, and still occassionally find some interesting facts about the FOGARTY family.

Coutzie was certainly one of the more interesting members of the FOGARTY family. I still have some "holes" to fill in the database regarding Coutzie, so any help is greatly appreciated. I am certainly willing to share any info that you may be interested in.

Sincerely, Tony KONECNY

Architect Henry Austin designed the home of Wallingford industrialist Samuel Simpson, which originally stood on North Main Street in Wallingford. In the mid-nineteenth century, Simpson, a silver manufacturer, partnered with Robert Wallace in the firm of R. Wallace & Company, the forerunner of Wallace Silversmiths. He was later president of Simpson, Hall & Miller. Simpson’s great-granddaughter, Margaret Tibbits Taber, later had a bookstore in the house. The home was later moved to its current location on Scard Road in Wallingford.

Jason ,I read your message and several others and I think there are mistakes even by my own daughter Heather. My father was Robert Albert Taber. My uncle was Jack Taber who was in the Air Force and buried in Comal county along with Aunt Kay. My fathers parents were Dawson Wilson Taber and Mabel Juanita Brooks Taber. They are both buried in San Marcos Texas as I was at the funeral for both. Dawson Wilson Tabers parents were Edward Warren Taber and Bessie Justice Taber. Edward Warren Tabers father was William Tabor and Louisa T Hullum Tabor.. They lived in Mississippi. Dawson Wilson Taber brother was Hume Hullum Taber. His name came from Louisa maiden name. He was called Uncle Tutt. When the Tabors lived in Miss. They spelled the name or not er. Either way they are all related. I will stop as I have probably confused you enough. I have 22 three ring binders on the Taber family. If there is any thing else I can help you find please let me know. If Cousin Jackie is your father say hello .I always had a crush on him and he was such a flirt when they were at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, Texas. Patricia Ann Taber

Parents of Jasper Taber of Rhode Island

I am researching the line of Jasper Taber, who was married to a Phoebe Heath and had at least four children that I know of, Jane, Eli, Wesson and Statira. My line comes through his son Eli. I have seen others suggest that his parents are a Gideon Taber and a Sarah Hicks. I haven't been able to find any docuemtation linking Jasper with these folks, does anyone have any documentation out there on Jasper that could help me link him with his parents? I last have record of him still living in 1880, he was born in 1799, at that time he was living with his married daughter Statira Hull in Iowa. Thanks!

A word of caution...
There are several generations of the Taber's in Ozark County, Missouri during the 1800's. Most stayed in this or surrounding counties. Also, most of them used "family names" for their children. This created several households with almost the exact same names.

I am still working through this data but have posted what I have sorted through at:
http://rdfulks.com/genealogy/index.php

You can contact me at: genealogy@rdfulks.com

Ricky

The "2 brothers" story is a myth that is perteputated in almost all family and is rarely true. The spelling of a last name is the least and last concern in family research. Surname spellings were often the result of someone who could spell, writing it as it sounded. If the illiterate peron couldn't read or write, how could they spell?
Tabor/Tabor/Taybor/Tayber/Taybour/Tabour, etc - its all the same.

This whole Sir John myth has been taken on by every early English Tabor line in America, including the Southeren lineage. I have spent 20 years researching the heritage of William Tabor/Tabor found in Henrico CO VA and died here in 1713 and found no parents or place of origin.

We have the SAR/ DAR documentation, The link is Sir John, William Sr, William Jr (emigrated), Thomas, William Sr, William Jr,
William, then Stephen born 1788. My branch is from Stephen's younger brother Jesse.

I don't know if it is the same Thomas Taber, but I have a geneology book that contains lineage stating Mary Cooke Thompson married Thomas Taber and had a son Joseph Tabor who married Elizabeh Spooner. Benjamin Taber, son of Joeseph married Susanna Lewis (1729). Here is in excerpt :
Thomas Taber born around Fev. 1644 at Yarmouth, Mass. he was fifth of six children born to Phillip Taber and Lydia Masters. He married Esther CookeAugust 15 1667.
Let me know if this is the line you are wanting, I would be curious to know.

Shawn Dunn
Great grandson of Zalo Miles
