Hi, My name is Samantha Takacs Brown, I am from the Takacs' of Braddock also, my father Paul Takacs married Debbie Ann Dufek, I was wondering if we where related?? My fathers siblings where Richard, Arlene, Donna, and David. Their mother was Barbara Takacs. I am not sure of who was before her, but I do know she married into Takacs. We where told growing up that our family fled from Europe (Slovakia area) during the first world war due to royalty and gold. We where told that one of the original brothers who came over had a chest full of gold and riches that would have been enough for 3 generations worth. The brother who carried the gold disappeared not long after arriving in the Pittsburgh area. It is said he went East. I was just wondering if our family fit into your line?????

ZSUZSA (SUSIE) TAKACS IN PASSAIC, NEW JERSEY

Searching for any info on a Zsuzsa (Susie, Susan) TAKACS living in Passaic, New Jersey in 1907. I don't know if this is her maiden name or married name.

My Grandmother, Rose URBAN, age 19, born in Edeleny, Borsod, Hungary, departed Europe from the port of Fiume aboard the SS Carpathia on 8 Jun 1907 arriving in New York on 26 Jun 1907. Her destination listed on manifest was Passaic, NJ; and relative or friend to be visited was Zsuzsa TAKACS, 387 388, Passaic, NJ. I don't know what the relationship was as it was unreadible on the original manifest. Numbers are possible street address.

In 1910, in Passaic, NJ, Rose Bodnar married Alexander (Sandor) BODNAR (born 8 Sep 1888 in Galocs, Ungvar, Hungary). About a year later, they moved to Washington County, Pennsylvania.

I have included the above info for any possible family ties. More than likely, Zsuzsa TAKACS, was from the Edeleny, Borsod area and was a sister, cousin, or aunt of my Grandmother.

Trying to tie up loose ends in my family tree and any help will be deeply appreciated.

Carol, here is a review of my book. My g-grandparents were from Palanka and settled in Trenton.

Collection of Genealogical Information of Palankaer-Americans and Related Family Members – 1895 to 2008.
Author: Dennis J. Bauer

Book Review
Palanka Heimatbrief, #15, May/June 2009
English Translation (original in German)

After long and painstaking work which stretched over many years, Dennis Bauer published his collection of genealogical data which pertains mainly to the death records of Palankaer in the area of Trenton NJ.
He has, with endless patience continued and expanded the collection of data, which our deceased countryman Peter Kiss started.
In 257 pages of the spiral bound book are contained a lot of information of interest to the genealogist.
Next to the statistical notes of the number of inhabitants of Palanka in the years between 1747 to 1948 we also find lists of Palankaer who immigrated to the USA from 1901 to 1957. The names of Palankaer immigrants before and after the 2nd World War, Palankaer who served in the US military between 1917 and 1942. There is even a list of subscribers to the “Nordamerikanischen Deutsch-Ungarischen Kalender” from the year 1935.
The heart of the book, however, is the listing of those Palankaer who passed on in the years between 1904 and 2008. The information was mostly gleaned from death notices in the daily press and contains all the information pertinent for family research.
In addition, where possible, the author cross-indexed the identification numbers from the Palankaer OSB.
A bibliography and source identification forms the conclusion of the book. The book opens with a short history of Palanka and the Donauschwaben. The only regret, is the fact that the book is in the english language, however, the main portion of the book, the register of the deceased and the various lists are formulated in such a way, that even those not conversant with the english language can obtain the significant data.
The book can be ordered direct from the author at US $ 40.00 including shipping and handling for overseas and US $ 30.00 including shipping and handling for North America at Dennis J. Bauer, 49 Conifer Road, Levittown, PA 19057-1718, USA.

Book Review by Richard Slama
I am especially interested in Margaret (Glagola) Takacs whom I think may have been an aunt of mine that I never met. I suspect that she graduated from Rahway (NJ) High School in 1940.

I am led to believe that she was living in Edison, NJ in the 1990's, but may have died in 1999 at Asbury Park, NJ under her maiden name.

She and her husband, Charles Takacs, had two children, They were Kenneth and Karen (Destler).

Very confusing, I know, but it's all I have to go on.

Bob

mld757

Michael would come thru an EI as Mihaly (Hungarian)
TAKACS is Hungarian for TAKAC^ or TKAC^ in Slovak (Slavic language)
Ungdarocz, Ung megye was never in Galicia. A map of old Czechoslovakia www.cgsi.org Your ancestor was from Ruthenia.
Hungarian "cs" is c^ sound in Slovak and "ch" sound in English.
My grandfather, Michael Takacs, emigrated from Galicia in 1905. His name on the ship's manifest is Tkach. Then, in 1909 when he married, it is spelled Sestcho. Then, in 1920 on the US census, it is spelled Tlakas. It eventually was spelled Takach and that is how it remained until he died in 1974.

Hope this helps, though it may be more confusing.

hi Cheryl...don't know if you remember me or not...I am Nancy searching for info on KOPCSO...we have corresponded several times...I gave you the e-mail of andras kopcso in HU, and you passed mine on to another KOPCSO you have been corresponding with. Anyway, this is a new name that I am researching, and voilla, there is your name again. I am not sure of the connection I have to the TAKACS...but I have been corresponding with Robin, a cousin (my mother had a cousin, Goldie STEFURAK PELLEY, and Robin is her grEat niece) I am not sure how my mother was related to Goldie but I know she was a cousin. Anyway, these names are from Robin: TAKACS, ZOLYOMI, Elizabeth NAGY whose mother was Barbara FORIZS, AND FATHER George. Other names I have come across are HORNYAK, PIGAY, SZABO, CSIBY and LENGYEL (I am not completely sure of the LENGYEL, it just keeps cropping up.

Let me know your connection to TAKACS and what you know about them, look forward to hearing from you again! The more I find the more confused I get!

Regards, Nancy

Takacs Brickwall

I have been researching what I can on the Takacs lineage of my family, but have run into a brickwall. It starts with my great-great grandfather Balint Takacs marrying Elizabeth Pangrace. They had 6 children: Mary, Josef, George, Anton, Gabor, and Terez. Mary married Lojos (spelling may be Lajos or Lajas) Szabo. They, in turn, had 6 children: Albert, Rose, Lajos (again with the spelling), Steve, George, and Mary. Any information on this lineage is greatly appreciated. As you can tell, I do not have any dates or place information for these ancestors. Please email me directly with any information: MommaLadyByrd@aol.com Thank you!
