Hi Mary,
I am looking for information regarding the Tanguis family as well. This line comes from my mother's mother's side of the family. The first Tanguis in my line is a Clemence Marie Tanguis (b: 28 Sept 1905 Abbeville, LA/d: 8 June 1993 New Orleans, LA). She married a Maril Bernard Becnel from New Orleans. Her parents were Henry and Madora Tanguis. According to 1930 census, they were both born abt 1885 in LA. On the census, they had been married 22 yrs and their son Frank (Clemence's brother) lived with them at that time. He was 20 yrs old. I don't know Madora's maiden name.
It is my understanding that these Tanguis came from France via Canada. So When i read your post to another researcher regarding an interview with your father in 2001, i thought there might be a tie in somewhere. Let me know if the information i provided sounds familiar.
Thanks,
John McKeehan
