Buried Oak Hill Cemetery,Herkimer,NY. Was she married before? Why were three daughters identified by husbands' names and one by her own first name? To which Tenyck/TenEyck was Dorthy married? Why was Fred not buried in same cemetery? He was born 5-12-1853 son of William and Lavenia Blodough Tansley. He died in 1938 in the home of his daughter Mrs. Bessie Moore, buried in Stratford Cemetery.
What were first names of Bessie and Dorthy's sisters Mrs.
Service and Mrs. Decker? Were all four sisters maiden names Tansley? What became of Mrs. Dorthy Tenyck? Please and thanks!

I am helping a friend of mine with her family tree but I'm missing many dates and places and I'm looking for help or suggestions. She was born in 1979 and her parents are in thier sixties so that gives an idea of possible birthdates for her ancestors.

Her great-grandfather was Albert Edward Fletcher and he was from England. He married Florence Ida May Tansley.
Albert Edward Fletcher's parents were John Henry Fletcher and Catherine Colbourne. Catherine (Coulbourne) Fletcher was from/of Horsley Wood, Derbyshire, England.

This is all I have to go on and I can't find anything on the LDS website or Rootsweb to point me in the right direction.
Any info or suggestions?

Maggie

Dear John,

Five years on after your message, I suspect that you have found out more than you imagined about the Tansley family. However, in case this still interests you, here are a few tidbits.

We are connnected through Donald Dougans Tansley, my father, who still lives in Ottawa (born 1925) and Dorothy Tansley Sweet, my aunt who lives in Regina. She is about 96 years now. Their father was Nelson Samuel Tansley, who is a son of John Wesley of Oxford County, Ontario (your great-grandfather I believe). Samuel Nelson travelled with his father and siblings as a young boy to Birtle, and then Samuel went on to Regina. If you are interested in more detail, please let me know.

I now live in London Ontario.

Jill Tansley

The 1880 US Census for Baltimore, MD indicated that my great-aunt Mary Jane "Polly" Gornall was married to Thomas J Tansley. He was age 34, she was age 29. I do not know what year they married, sometime between 1870 and 1880, as she was 19 and still living at home on the 1870 US Census for Baltimore, MD. I would be interested in finding out where Mr. Tansley was born, who his parents were and where his parents were from. Mr. Tansley and Mary Jane Gornall had no children.

Hi there. I have an Orpha Tansley Born Sept 01, 1879 in Ontario. Parents were Joseph Setchel Tansley and Susannah Simpson Married Mar 1879. Joseph's parents were Joseph and Sarah Ann. Orpha married Charles Wesley McArthur in 1897 and lived in Alberta. I am not sure if they had a son (emil Gordon) in 1907. Charles remarried in 1910 and on the 1911 Census Gordon is 3. Story has it that Orpha took a horse and left (sometime after 1905). The horse came home but not Orpha. Do you have any information on her. I have been searching for awhile for her. If you Search on Ancestry my tree will show up that lists quite a few Tansley's. There is also a Family Tree on Roots Web about the Tansley's. I would appreciate any information that you can give me.

thanks
gail

Perhaps we can exchange information as these are my great, great grandparents. I've searched for Sarah Ann Curtis parentage and place of birth for over 30 years and could use your help.

I do have info on Joseph's father John Tansley and his three wives that I would share with you. Do you have information on John and Sarah Chambers children, Richard and Ann? I believe they were the children of Sarah Harwood (nee) Chambers.
Thanks, Minnie

Hi

Have you checked the library archives for Ontario births and marriages. If you can get their marriage cert. it may show his parents. Once you have the parent's names I'll probably be able to help.

Mike

Hi, Bernard,
Spotted your posting on Tansley family and as I am researching this name for a friend I wondered if there might be a connection. I have Joseph Tansley (1772 Haynes, Bedfordshire) married Frances Lancaster (1772 Haynes, Bedfordshire) 24 March 1796 Haynes, Bedfordshire
My friend Keith is descended through Charles Tansley (1808-1889), James Tansley (1834-1913), Francis Norris Tansley (1861) and finally down to the illegitimate daughter of Charles Tansley (1890). Can you make a connection?
Lynn

Josephine, it is possible that your grandfather William was the son of Fred Tansley of Gilmorton (1860-1919), who was also one of my ancestors. I have a fair bit of info about Tansleys, including details of Fred's will, naming William Tansley, wheelwright of Ibstock, as an executor.

I'm from Northamptonshire originally, and there are still a few of us around.

Ian.
