Tapia from Leon, Guanajuato

My Tapia roots originate in Leon, Guanajuato. Many of them moved to the San Antonio, Texas area upon entering the US. I have many names such as Evaristo and Simon Tapia which appear to be heads of various families that I have not been able to connect but yet I'm pretty confident they are related. If your Tapia family does originate in Leon, please contact me. thanks.

I found Church record very helpful in some of my research. Most were baptist as infants and lot of nuns were midwifes here in NM for many years. So church record is another way to search.

Searching the Grooms' Index (only available July 1856 - May 1875) I did not find a marriage for Francisco Tapia in Los Angeles County.

Searching the Brides' Index from July 1856 - 1890 I found several West brides. The ones below had traditional California given names (as opposed to Mable, etc.):

Manuela West
married
Diego Cesonas

Oddly, there is no date on this one and no location. The marriage most likely took place in 1871. Reference is: Marriage Book 2, Page 75

Juanita West
married
Dominick E. Murray
April 23, 1888
in Los Angeles
Marriage Book 14, Page 100

Do you know who he married? I have access to Los Angeles County marriage records (listed by bride). If we find a Francisco Tapia in Los Angeles, with the bride you expect to see, maybe we can assume that the Los Angeles F. Tapia is yours and the SLO F. Tapia is not.

I have an ancestor, Francisco E Tapia born about 1854 in California,--trouble is there are two that were born in California about that time. One lived in San Luis Obispo and the other in L.A. Neither of them have the middle initial E. In their names. Anyone have a clue as to what the E. stands for? I'm hoping mom's maiden name.

Do you have a Ramona Tapia b. around 1897 in Fabens, TX or El Paso, TX? All I know about her is that she married Bartolo Aceves and they had a son named Horacio Lorenzo Aceves b. Aug 10, 1921 in El Paso, TX.

I noticed you had a Lorenzo in your line. Could it be possible that Horacio was named after him?

Ramona died giving birth or soon after having Horacio. So, he never knew his mother. Bartolo traveled back and forth to CA.

I would like to find out whom her parents were and when and where she died. Thank you.
Hello

I'm looking for any information on Great grandfather Joaquin Tapia Sr. who was born in CA around 1894 and died in El Paso 1956. He married a woman by the name of Vicenta M. (not sure what M stands for, believe it may be Montoya) whom was born in New Mexico around 1897. They resided in El Paso. It was told by my father, that my grandfather, Joaquin Tapia Jr. had a tribal registration with a tribe which I can not remember now.

Any idea where to go to help gain this information? Family assistance is not an option unfortunately.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: ANDRES TAPIA b. abt 1877 New Mexico, married VIGIL 1900

Hello, I believe we may have conversed on another message board. I have done quite abit of reasearch on my Tapia lineage and Andres is my great grandfather. I also noticed it may be you who has some question about Matilda Tapia too. She is the wife of Ramon Vigil and Andres's sister. I have done 'some' reaserch about my Vigil side too but not as extensive as I'd like, yet. My father knows/knew all the above personally and has fond memories. If you need some info on either the Tapia's or Vigil's contact me at........
Etapiagoodtogo@aol.com
